- A high-school senior drives cross-country with his best friends to hook up with a babe he met online.
- Ian, a high-school senior in suburban Chicago, is plagued by being a virgin. Online he's inflated his resume, met Ms. Tasty, and agreed to drive to Knoxville, where she promises sex. He steals his homophobic macho brother's GTO and heads south with his two best friends, Lance and Felicia. Every young woman who meets Lance, including Felicia, is attracted to him as he practices his aptly learned "Pick-Up Artist" skills. Ian, on the other hand, is a decent guy who wouldn't mind if his friendship with Felicia became a romance. By the time they get to Knoxville, they have encountered a jealous boyfriend, a menacing hitchhiker, jailbirds, carjackers, an Amish community, and Ian's better judgment.—<jhailey@hotmail.com>
- In a Chicago suburb, 18-year-old Ian is a naive virgin who is mocked by his classmates and his homophobic brother Rex; his best friends are Felicia and Lance. When Ian meets a girl called Tasty on the Internet, he writes many lies about himself; when she invites him to drive to Knoxville, Tennessee to have sex with her, Ian steals Rex's GTO Judge 1969 and hits the road with Lance and Felicia. When they have trouble on the road with the car, Amish youth Ezekiel offers to help them in his community. Lance meets Amish lass Mary and they fall in love with each other. During their travels, Ian and Felicia discover that their feelings are more than friendship and that Tasty is not how she presented herself.—Claudio Carvalho, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil
- Ian Lafferty (Josh Zuckerman) is an 18-year-old recent high school graduate. He searches for a girl online making it look as if he's buff and suave (claims to be part of the football team and bench pressing 300 pounds of dead weight), although he's sweet and unassuming. He soon meets "Ms. Tasty" (Katrina Bowden) and agrees to meet her in person. Ms Tasty also lures Ian with a picture of herself in a bikini at a beach.
Ian's has an arrogant homophobic & macho older brother named Rex (James Marsden). Dylan (Cole Petersen) is the third brother. The 3 brothers live with their father (Brett Rice) and their stepmother (Kim Ostrenko).
Ian is a typical high school boy at the edge of puberty. He has frequent wet dreams at night and wants to have sex with every pretty girl he sees. Ian works at a donuts shop at the mall to earn some money. His coworker is Becca (Allison Weissman). Ian is shocked when he finds that Becca is going out with Dylan.
Rex had warned Ian that the online person he is chatting with is probably a guy. Ian is best friends with Felicia and Lance. Felicia believes that girls wants a nice and decent guy, but Lance says that girls also wants a challenge and they always pine for the guy that they cannot get. Andy and Randy are their classmates, who have an insane ability to open a conversation with a girl, but then are not able to close it.
Lance throws a party at his mansion and tries to set up Ian with a girl who is totally ready to have sex. But Ian gets interrupted by Felicia, and spends the entire party talking to her. Ian and Felicia claim that they are only best friends.
Ms Tasty lives in Knoxville, Tennessee, while he lives in Bartlett, Illinois. Ms. Tasty promises to go all the way with Ian if he makes the trip. With his best friends Lance (Clark Duke) and Felicia (Amanda Crew), they go in a 1969 Pontiac GTO Judge borrowed without permission from Rex. Ms. Tasty was also impressed with the picture of Rex's GTO that Ian had shared, claiming to be his own. Ian's parents, Rex and Dylan were going for a road trip for a weekend and Lance convinces him that they could be gone and back before Rex ever knew that the car was missing.
To prepare for the trip Ian buys a pack of condoms for the first time in his life. Lance tags along as he says that he can help him close the deal with Ms. Tasty. Felicia comes as she had planned to spend the weekend with Ian at his place, as her cousin was driving her crazy with her wedding preparations.
On the way to Knoxville, they come across a hitchhiker (David Koechner), as the radiator in the Judge overheats. They attempt urinating in the radiator, which only works briefly as they try to leave the hitchhiker in the dust. The hitchhiker, frustrated at Ian's lack of concern for his well-being, leaves but not before urinating on the car window. As Ian and Felicia wander to find help, Lance is waiting with the car as Ezekiel (Seth Green) happens by in his horse-drawn buggy. Ezekiel and his Amish buddies repair the car while they join a Rumspringa party where Fall Out Boy is playing a concert and at which Lance meets an attractive Amish girl, Mary (Alice Greczyn). The three promise to come again on the way back to do some work in return.
They go to jail due to Ian throwing a tire iron into a state trooper car (due to his increasing frustration at trying to put a possum he hit out its misery) and are released after Mary pays the bail. They find a hotel that sports a wide variety of role-playing rooms. Rex, who has discovered the Judge missing, arrives angrily and insists that they go back, and that Ian cannot visit Ms. Tasty.
After Ian pretends to be gay, Rex allows him to see Ms. Tasty, hoping this encounter will change Ian's mind. Ian finally meets Ms. Tasty, However, when he tells her about Felicia, her seduction for Ian to take off his clothes becomes a threat as her psychotic boyfriend Bobby Jo (Dave Sheridan) puts a gun to Ian's head. It becomes apparent that the couple work at a chop shop and attempts to rob Rex's Pontiac GTO.
Lance and Mary arrive after having sex, as well as a redneck named Rick (Michael Cudlitz), whose girlfriend Brandy (Andrea Anders) slept with Lance earlier. Felicia, however, is hiding in the car when Bobby Jo tries to steal it. Soon, a green car that has been continuously drag-racing with the Judge throughout the movie arrives.
Ian manages to save Felicia, who then is able to run off and report to the police. Ms. Tasty tries to escape, but is stopped by the green car, whose drivers turn out to be Andy (Charlie McDermott) and Randy (Mark L. Young), two dim-witted self-declared "womanizers" from Ian's school, whom Ms. Tasty tried to manipulate into giving her the car.
Bobby Jo is treated after being shot by Ian in self-defense. Felicia tells the police about the chop shop location and the couple is arrested.
Upon finding out that if Mary leaves the Amish community, she will be shunned, Lance refuses to come back home and stays behind to marry Mary, while Ian and Felicia realize their love for each other. Ian and Felicia drive to a tree where Ian throws his shoes up into the tree. A few weeks later Ian is Felicia's date to her cousin's wedding. At Thanksgiving dinner, Rex tells his family that he is gay. On New Year's Eve, Ian and Felicia have sex, in Ian's basement on the couch under a blanket.
A picture is shown of Lance and Mary getting married, accompanied by Ian. Lance is shown sporting a beard exactly like Ezekiel's. During the credits, a short scene shows Ezekiel and Fall Out Boy arguing over the fact that the Amish fixed Fall Out Boy's tour bus for just "a five song set" in form for compensation, referring to a running gag throughout the movie.
