Fringe is one of the better sci-fi series that I've ever seen. I'm a huge fan of this genre and have a lot of favorites so to say this is one of them is a huge compliment from someone that's seen a lot of them. It's about FBI Special Agent Olivia Dunham (Anna Torv) as she's assigned to the bureau's Fringe Division, which investigates unusual crimes and occurrences. Assisting her is scientist Dr. Walter Bishop (John Noble), his son Peter Bishop (Joshua Jackson) and FBI Junior Agent Astrid Farnsworth (Jasika Nicole). They go on to discover connections to their own past and to a parallel universe. Fringe is always entertaining and never boring. That's the most you can ask from a good series. I can't recommend this show enough.
There's an abundance of great writing, incredible performances and excellent execution on this show, but John Noble (playing the (to put it mildly) eccentric scientist Walter Bishop) steals every scene he's in.
His performance is one for the ages, and it's up there with Christopher Lloyd's Dr. Emmett Brown and Terry O'Quinn's John Locke.
A pure joy!
Watched the show as it came out, and have fond memories.
Watched the trailer with my teenagers, to see if we wanted to watch it as a family - Worst Trailer Ever!! I wouldn't watch the show after watching the trailer.
Trailer is more like a music video than a TV trailer.
Watch the first 4 minutes of the first episode, or better yet watch the whole first episode and know they are going to solve similar mysteries. Enjoy the show.

I started this show for the ratings, at first I thought it's good, but I failed to see what the fuss is all about but what kept me going to be honest - yes, I know it sounds very juvenile - is Anna Torv's face, there I said it! I mean you have to keep watching if the show has what must be the most beautiful woman on earth, right? Not only that but for reasons you'll understand along the road sometimes you get 2 Anna Torvs, and in some rare cases - I kid you not - you get 3 and your TV screen couldn't be prettier :)
Anyway by the end of season 1 things started to change, the plot starts to thicken - a whole lot - and ladies & gentlemen, John Noble (Walter Bishop) started to shine. He must have played one of the best father/mad-scientist roles I saw. His emotions were elegant but pure, quirky but deeply human, he literally stole the camera at every shot he's in. I loved him. And then you stay for the story you're now invested in and the complications and creativity it achieves nearly at every episode. And of course there's still Anna Torv, OMG!!
I'm glad I bumped into this old gem. Thankfully, IMDB ratings still can be indicative.

I'm about a decade or more late into watching the show. This show has everything you could need, comedy, sorrow, action and ideas that are just extraordinary I don't think I've watched an episode yet that I truly disliked. The cast works so well with each other and their personalities are so different and defined that I'm so grateful that I stumbled across this true gem of a show it's unfortunate that there aren't more of these types of shows out there anymore. Admittedly I had a hard time when we went to the alternate universe at first but then even that started growing on me I'm very grateful to this show for giving me hours of entertainment.

- QuizIn season one, episode nine, "The Dreamscape", the victim that fell from the Massive Dynamics building had a flight booked on Oceanic Air to Omaha, the same airline featured in Lost (2004). Oceanic Air is a fictional airline used in several Hollywood productions where bad things happen to aircraft. (Real airlines are understandably reluctant to be associated even with fictional crashes and hijackings.) It goes back at least to Executive Decision (1996) with Kurt Russell and Halle Berry.
