Funny cast hindered by painfully overt messaging

These guys are genuinely funny, and their best skits are the ones where they just let their imaginations run wild. But so many of their skits just feel as if they were written by some downtown-Toronto white person (or white-adjacent person) obsessed with ticking boxes to demonstrate "wokeness." It gets to the point where you sit there, already cringing, just waiting for the diatribe about some intense social issue. I watch comedy to escape this kind of thing, not to be slammed with it over and over. And I'm an immigrant! Their perspective is just way too big-city-university-white-person-focused. They don't make any jokes for real immigrants. They never explore any of the successful immigrant communities. It's the most misleading and ridiculous portrayal of Canada. But it's a shame because these guys really are funny, and we really were lacking in diversity for comedy sketch shows, so I welcomed this when it came on. I think they should be brave and just rely on their humour, not ticking boxes.

Love this show

This show is so cute and lovely, and of course, funny - it's one of my favs. I also appreciate more sketch comedy coming to out, the more the merrier.

Horrifically Unfunny

A complete waste of the 16 mins I managed to endure before having to turn it off except for the lesson learned. The people who gave this show the green light have no business bwing in the "comedy" business.

A Fresh Take on Canadian Sketch Comedy

A 21st century update of the Canadian sketch comedy format. Likable characters, fast pacing, and packed full of local references.

13 Seconds Into It And It Was Enough To Make Me Turn It Off

It's as if they made this show for a bunch of 12 year old boys!

I got to 13 seconds and I just couldn't watch it anymore. Ninja style cries that remind me of Jackie Chan. I mean I turned to my mom and I said "Okay, that's enough of that!"! I'd rather watch a new season of Schitt's Creek because that show's creators are funny.

My mom didn't like it either so what does that say about the writers of this show?

Great show, especially love Guled Abdi

I've sincerely enjoyed three seasons of Tallboyz. It shifts well between joyful absurdity and thoughtful takes on pertinent issues. I especially find myself drawn to the genuine, and hilarious demeanour that Guled Abdi brings to his performances. Looking forward to following the career from all four core members of the cast.

sooooooooooooooo bad

Terrible actors, terrible, never ending, redundant, pathetic, seriously to be that many to make this is sad, how could they get a job doing this in the land of the trailer park boys?

So Canadian

I really enjoy the silly humour of this show. The Toronto mans' accent and various BIPOC perspectives are spot on without sacrificing the funny. It takes some scathing shots at race and politics but wraps it in absurd comedy and I love that. I'm pretty sure I've seen all the episodes and and the production value just kept getting better and the storylines funnier. Each Tallboy brings something hilarious to the table and I can't believe they haven't been tapped for more. Also, it's rare to see a show with only minorities as the leads. If you like dumb humour, sketch comedy, and inclusivity then Tallboyz is for you.

Meh. Rewatch Letterkenny over and over instead.

I like sketch shows and looking forward to this one out of Canada. But of course its just trying to hard to tick all the left boxes. With a mixed cast cast you would think it would bring more culture and diverse views to the table but its really not an educated funny show. There is no laughs to be had in this 'comedy' show. Its really not saying much on anything that its target audience wouldn't agree with and thats a shame because it comes off as one sided and unfunny. This is the type of show that looks, 'for claps not for laughs' from the audience. 1 episode of Letterkenny is worth a hundred of this show.

One of my favorite shows! Smart, political

Tallboyz is one of the best sketch shows ever made. I had just finished binging the first season of A Black Lady Sketch Show and Baroness von Sketch when I gave a shot to Tallboyz (I just love comedy). I was so impressed! It was even better!

As an intersectionality writer and a huge fan of Mike Schur, this is the level of writing quality I aim to reach one day. They 3 boyz manage to be hilarious AND political, which makes it quite intellectual (I understand why some people might be lost). I find it very intriguing that they manage to denounce things without having the usual awkward moment you find after calling out people with privilege. This is how subtil and talented they are.

I was speechless and blissfully happy when I got a small part in that show. I am no actress and it was the life goal I didn't know I had. As a matter of fact, I was on a plane the next day, and when I thought it would crash, while everyone was screaming, I thought "Perfect timing! At least I got to be in Tallboyz!" I can't believe it's not on Netflix yet.

Can't believe tax dollars paid for this

I had to make an IMDb account just to vent.

This show is funded by the CBC, which means every sketch has to be run through a filter to make sure it's inoffensive to literally everyone. That alone kills comedy. You can't be funny if you're afraid to take risks.

But even if they were allowed to push boundaries, it wouldn't matter. None of them have comedic timing. Not one. They feel like people acting funny as opposed to actually being funny people.

I'm sure these boys are a good hang, but I genuinely have no idea how this show has won seven awards.

I've seen funnier TikToks made by 11-year-olds.
