Here we go again...first off, if you see a review that has a 10/10 rating and the opening line is, "I'm a huge horror fan..." that is just so ridiculous and stupid and obvious that it's a fake review. 🙄 Moving on, the "couple" is creepy in this movie, like my heading said this feels like a movie a family made at home. The problem is, dad's gone so the oldest son is playing dad instead. Yeah, "mom" looks more like grandma and "dad" looks like older brother, feels more like taboo than horror.
So, this is a POV/found footage style movie so you know it's no budget, bad acting, etc. I sadly have a soft spot for these movies, even at their worse.
Vickie, the "mom" grandma is just out of her element, so out of it that it's really annoying. For example, she decides to do a Vlog but keeps calling it a V log, no matter how many times she's corrected, it's stupid and annoying.
So yeah, the bad acting with terrible casting and awful script just completely ruins this movie and makes it impossible to get into it because all the characters are either annoying or ones you can't wait for them to die.
My advice, skip it, there's better movies out there from this genre.

(My first review) I loved it. After hundreds of found footage films - I stumble on this one. What drew me in were the leads. They were honest representations of very normal people. Kevin Hicks was a frightening and imposing character and his wife Vickie was immediately likeable and sympathetic. The supernatural elements were a bit different from normal. No deep explanations and you really don't need any. It is slow. It is handheld. It is low budget. There are no teen leads or nudity. No bad CGI spirits or ghouls. There were some creepy moments that were of the "blink and you missed it" variety (one was a bit derivative but still cool). At least one moment was frission inducing. Vickie Hicks' acting was totally convincing. Get this: A horror film with SEVERAL pets...and none of them die. If you are into found footage and such - I do recommend this as it's a welcome, and odd change.
The title spoils the movie for me. It's pretty straight forward with the story. It's a good watch when you're drunk and don't wanna think too much.
I jumped. I'll admit it. Maybe I'm not that sophisticated? Or, I watch without having distractions. No phones. No kids. But I jumped. And there's one point (no spoilers) where I asked myself, how'd they do that? I enjoyed the film.
Many moons ago, in my teen years working at the Ithaca Mall (back when it was still a mall), I spent hours playing a game called The Grid with Kevin Hicks when video arcades were still a thing. We had a mess load of fun and ever since meeting Kevin during those nostalgic times, I've always thought he was (and still is) a wholesome, driven and talented man of his craft. I even got the opportunity to meet Vicky when i visited them at their house in Lansing. Both of the Hicks' are very creative, wholesome people and I recommend supporting/watching any release they put out. They are a duo of endless ideas and they do everything for the most part DIY, which can be a grueling process considering it's something I've done myself in the music industry. Anyways, give this movie (and other Hicks' films) a watch! I highly recommend them.

- QuizExcept for the VLogs & video chats (screen-captured), the movie was shot entirely on a Google Pixel 3 phone.
