First, there is no way you would cross scrubby desert when traveling from New York to Austin. You would come by interstate highway thru the DFW metroplex and down I35 for 4 hours of traffic and towns to get to Austin. No desolate roads!
Also, yes we have accents, very different in different parts of the state, but Austin is more Matthew McConaughey sounding than what was portrayed.
Good show, but please get your details right!

Love this show, yeah it's not believable and it's kind of a joke. But it has a storyline. It's not a comparison to the other one, but normally the OG is the best anyway. I love the cast. It's TV people don't be so critical and sit back and enjoy. You voted for Trump and you think this is a joke. Haha. I'm glad I'm Canadian.
The writers acted like Austin was some small hick town with a diversity issue. Yes, those places exist in Texas. But, speaking from someone who has lived in Houston their whole life, Austin isn't that town, and I doubt you have to reach to places to like Chicago or L.A. to find a trans man or Muslim woman, they very much exist in a thriving, diverse, and blue for that matter, city like Austin. Not saying discrimination can't happen in Austin, terrible people are everywhere, but please for the love of god can t.v. and movie writers please actually go to Texas for once in their damn lives. The desert is in West Texas my dudes, Austin is liberal, I've never heard the spaghetti western accent they think we have, and Houston is considered one of the most diverse cities in the county.
All the reviews made me think this show was horrible but binge watching the first 3 episodes wasn't so bad. I actually like the show and hope that it gets renewed for a 2nd season!!!!!!
Let me put you on notice. If the biggest problem you have with this show is it's inclusivity, YOU are the problem... geez such hateful, stupid people.

- QuizThe episodes about the runaway tank in a downtown area and the cell-tower sniper are based on true events. Ex-Army officer Shawn Nelson stole a tank on May 17, 1995, and destructively rampaged it through the streets of San Diego. Cell-tower workers' being shot at by citizens who were disgruntled with cell phone companies and/or opposed to the presence of cell towers in their neighborhoods has been an issue recently.
- BlooperSeveral times Captains park in front of the overhead doors, blocking the trucks from exiting. No firefighter would ever block the path of the equipment coming out of the station.
