Nice comedy. Fun characters. Awesome edutainment. Loved the concept. If you are interested in fitness and workouts, you should really try out this show.
Actually, sports animes are now widespread and often quite entertaining. The fight against yourself and/or your opponents can be presented in an appealing way, even more so if you put it all into a wider context.
Unfortunately, "How Heavy Are the Dumbbells You Lift?" is not one of these animes at all. The whole series has no plot at all. A few braindead girls are shown stretching and spreading, as lightly dressed as possible. As close up as possible between the legs and on the breasts. The whole thing is camouflaged with superficial weight training and nutrition advice.
The portrayal of the male characters in particular can hardly be described as anything other than brazen. These unrealistic bodybuilder monsters don't even make the slightest sense in the context of this series. Women with perfectly normal figures are portrayed as too fat. What is particularly perfidious is the mantra that is repeated again and again that you should be yourself and go your own way. In the end, the series is still nothing but body shaming.
None of the one-dimensional characters have any more brains than is needed for the small world of bodybuilding. Nevertheless, the series still manages to create extremely boring pseudo-characters, even for the anime world. The glutton, the rich, muscle-obsessed woman in heat, the martial artist with no qualities of her own and the teacher who is desperately looking for a man at 29.

This show really teaches me the correct way to do exercises and i don't mean to brag but it also motivates me better during my workouts. I hope it's endless show.
You can learn many useful staff about fitness from these series, I was enthusiastic at the beginning, also the mixture of characters from different ages.
The opening and closing themes are very nice.
But episodes by episodes, the enthusiasm gradually faded, the further you go, the more flaws you spot.
I like the characters in general, but they are a bit too stereotyped, maybe it is also due to the fact that all male characters are in reality just support ones. Don't get me wrong, I am not against a whole female series (Shojo is my favourite), but the lack specifically here makes them looking a bit limited.
Also some fantasy part about muscle-god, muscle- anything ec. I did not like, but they are just tiny parts.
If you are interest in fitness I suggest you this series, however, do not expect a masterpiece in the making.
