Expected a bit more from srijit

Story is unique and captivating but easily predictable. Film is good for one time watch but i had high hopes from srijit regarding this film so im disappointed a bit.

True achievement

A deserving yet struggling makeup artist meets a stranger for a challenging job. The actual character of the job turns his life upside down. And the stranger creates a quite a mayhem in Kolkata with his (un)willing help.

This movie is a real achievement for Srijit Mukherji, Rudranil Ghosh and Ritwick Chakraborty. All the actors did brilliant job. The screenplay is brilliant and intelligent. Only sometimes I felt some over-acting from Rudranil. Ritwick alone carried the film brilliantly. The overall story is amazing to continuous grip on the audience. However, the name "serial lawyer" does not make much sense, as not much law exercises has happened.

Bravo Srijit. Hope more like this will come from you.

A Masterpiece!

Psychological thrillers are very rare when it comes to Tollywood industry. Among them, very few are well executed. This movie is a gem. Good storyline, excellent cast and when it comes to direction, no one can compete Srijit Mukherjee. This movie is surely one of the best Bengali movies of all time.

An entertaining crime drama that tries to pose itself as an intelligent psychological thriller

An entertaining crime drama that tries to pose itself as an intelligent psychological thriller. The first half of the film was well crafted in a way that even when there was confusion over the idea they wanted to present it was finely handled so that it was always almost perfect. But afterwards, it was kind of becoming what it was criticising in the first half but not too much, just part of being Indian mainstream cinema even when it is a regional film without the top star cast.

Excellent piece of work!

Srijit is one one of my favorite directors. Specially I like his thriller products. After long time, he's back with another Crime thriller movie. Albeit the movie isn't very much twist ending one and not that kind of nail biting. But I think the director, Mr. Srijit Mukherje, has not wanted to create those things. What he wants to portrait by this one, I think, he's successful indeed. The way he has told the story with a disturbed tone and with colourless colour it made me to give 9 out of 10. Good job! :)

Piece of art

I really loved the story and the climax but they could made it more interesting. Sohini was really amazing. And loved Hritwik and Rudranil's acting. Srijit is one of the best director. Loved it.

Real Gem Of Movie-Vinci Da

The movie is a gem. The movie is a masterpiece. The movie is marvelous Feat.

Such movies deserve to be watched by world wide audience.

Bengali movies are way ahead of Bollywood in terms of content except for few masala Bengali movies and actors like Jeet and Dev.

Other actors and Directors are truely applaudable.

Good Movie!

Seems like this film is more inspired by 2016 Bangladeshi film "Aynabaji" directed by Amitabh Reza Chowdhury. Though the plots are different, the main theme is pretty Clear.

Must Watch "Aynabaji".

Pure art and thriller

Movies with lawyers are always my favorite. And Vinci, Nietzsche, ubermensch- all combined to turn this movie into a pure art.

The cast was excellent. Ritwick Chakroborty, Rudranil Ghosh, Anirban Bhattacharya, Riddhi Sen, Sohini Sarkar- everyone gave their best in the movie. However different and difficult their roles were, they played so gracefully. If you are a thriller fan, this movie with its local and global context can be a great suit for your weekend watch!

Thanks to Srijit for giving another superb thriller after 'Baishe Srabon'.

Mr. Mukherji Could Have Surely Done Better.

"Vinci Da" essays a disparate commixture of Thrill & Drama constituents. However, such devoted pursuit in one way or another begets blatant frailties here. As a forthright thriller it might've worked, yet I have my reservations nonetheless.

Methodized as a scrupulous thriller, the narrative only works upto an extent. The simple reason being its inability to persevere a level of consistency for the entirety of the runtime. Frequent tonal alterations coupled with disarrayed editing paved the way for further contortion. Therefore, every subplot failing to come at a verdict, contrary to all our earnest expectations.

Aside from all the conspicuous demerits, what undeniably work in here are its salient aesthetics, cogent performances and an indelible social commentary; wittily put through by Srijit Mukherji himself. Unsurprisingly so, considering his previous credentials.

Talking about the technicalities, as one would invariably expect; Mr. Mukherji does deliver. Both gloomy & ethereal undertones in Cinematography helped him illustrating the City of Joy i.e. Kolkata in a more shaded manner. Indradeep Dasgupta's gripping Score keeping apace with Anupam Roy's eloquent composition. As a result the condign ambiance quickly found its way through.

Moving onto the performances, wherein the most applauses are readily awaited. Rudranil Ghosh as 'Vinci Da' exhibits a certain vulnerability that consequently generates an affinity for this particular character. Which in return leaves a lasting impression. So does Ritwick Chakraborty with his usual enigmatic screen presence. Riddhi Sen & Anirban Bhattacharya; two accomplished personas in their own rights yet we get to see them for a very brief period of time. Alas!

To summarise, it has only been a fair enough showing, certainly not upto par. Primarily because it falls short of delivering on its pre-emptive promises. Although as for a Social Critique & on a Performance Perspective; this indeed succeeded in showing its mettle.

Intriguing story, but ...

This is an unusual story of two worthy but unsuccessful minds. Vincida is a makeup artist who is passionate about his job but could not shine in his field due to his straightforward character and Adi Bose is obsessed about law and order while he could not become a lawyer. However, when they meet, their lives change. The plot is unusual and the actors did their job in the best possible way. The cinematography, background scores, make up and everything was wonderful. However, in my opinion, the movie lacks to focus deeper on the two characters. Though its a difficult job when there are two central characters, but I think the movie demands more attention to the minds Adi Bose and Vinci da.. May be the movie could be extended another half an hour to look deeper into the characters making it more of a psychological thriller than a crime thriller. I rate it 5/10 due to this factor. It seemed that the movie got over before even we get to know the characters more deeply.

The Ubermensch.

Easily one of the finest thrillers India has ever produced, "Vinci Da" is an unique psychological thriller by renowned Bengali director Srijit Mukherjee. And as you'd expect from Srijit Mukherjee usually, reaching a conclusion for the movie's subplot is a subject of debate. And that's where the "psychological thriller" part starts making even more sense than a simple tag of "crime thriller."

Right from the beginning, the film takes you to a journey of questioning of yourself. Coupled with numerous layers and a Christopher Nolan-like-tone to make it even harder to find one answer. But while finding them, you'll never be bored. The two hour length of the film was justified and it never let get off the chair. And, while the subplot keeps influencing you to judge the Ritwick Chatterjee's character in an unorthodox manner, the original plot rather pushes you farther away from it & forces you to believe 'Aady Bose' is a psychopath. But what exactly is the term 'psychopath' again? That question comes into the spotlight after Rudranil Sengupta's countless attempts of showing the good-man-way of our beloved society. However, right till the very end, your brain will be bamboozled, you'll be in utter disbelief of your own morale & will keep on thinking about the term "Ubermensch." And yet, you'll most likely fail to reach a logical conclusion of differentiating "the good and the bad and the ugly" here. That's how magnificent the direction by Srijit Mukherjee was.

But is direction even possible without proper casting? Nope, mostly & Shree Venkatesh Films surely acknowledged the fact to gift us the most perfect cast ever, where everybody got their moments for shining and justifying their roles while setting up the tone for the film. The most underrated aspect of the film being Sohini Sarkar's adorable performance & how she ended up being the most important part of the "story written by god." What accompanied the cast so sweetly was definitely the crispy dialogue writing, fantastic cinematography (which always felt like watching a Christopher Nolan movie of his early days), way of narration & of course, situational songs with witty lyrics and a brilliant piece of background scoring.

Even after having the privilege of all these, the film by no means had a satisfying crunchy ending (even though the climax was fabulous). However, there's the point that did the film really want to present a perfect ending? I believe not. Thus, it's too hard for me to point out flaws here.

So, if you ask me, I'd probably tell you to go and live this brilliant journey worth of 2 hours to find out what "Ubermensch" means. Undoubtedly, "Vinci Da" will always remain within Top 50 Indian Thrillers ever.

A rare masterpiece in tollywood industry

Srijit Mukherjee is an asset of tollywood Kolakata film industry. This movie is another signature making work from him. Human ambiguity in between conplex reality has been subtly depicted in this film. The actors tried to give it a worth performance.

In bengali film industry, we rarely find this kind of psychological yet magnetic movie. 10/10.

Nice de-coding of davinci's passion of art

At the beginning of the story it was little bit messy with different character introductions. But after 20mins it is settle down.

The main 2 characters, vinci da and bose ( Ritwik and Rudranil bosh ) gives their best to build up the story through theor performance.

But Anirab battacharya ( polce officer) and Sohini sarkar (Jaya) taking their supporting chracters to the exemplary level which made the film is a master class.

Music is somewhat different from normal bengali film which gives a plus point. Of course no need to mention that is obvious, the make up artist is doing a hell of job to bring success to the movie.

The diractor tries to give a fair discussion to de-coding the passion behind the leanardo da-vinci's art. The chatogory of film here in Imdb should be add 'Drama' also.

Overrated garbage

Srijit is a top director with outstanding track record but this time he completely wasted talented actors like Ritwick and Rudranil.

The main idea is not fresh and screenplay is odd. The best part for me was Riddhi's part, he is a true gem.
