This Must Be the Place

This is a nice short film about a woman joining a coven of witches. However, it is also a story about what a woman is willing to give up for power. Bonnie is a woman desperate for power who sees two witches with power. The fact there is only a single sentence spoken in the film makes it clear that the sacrifice is her voice. This is a good artistic film about power and sacrifice underneath a story of a woman trying to join a coven of low end witches.

The cinematography is good with harsh lighting and neon. You get this feeling of events and people living on the edges of society. The magic is not flashy and falls solidly into the urban fantasy setting. If you enjoy this type of short films, you should also look up the short film Gutterwitch (2020) that follows similar veins.
