Satria Dewa: Gatotkaca

Cringey, lame and disconnected script, very lame jokes (I couldn't believe they could make Rigen and Butet, very funny comedians, to sound lame and weird), cheap and obnoxious advertisements and product placements all over, weird lighting and angles and continuities, storyline and acting like a low budget sinetron (telenovela), out of place and unnecessary characters (Quinn is annoying as hell), over the top but weird action scenes, awkward editing, and the list goes on.

I couldn't even force myself to finish watching this movie (I'm writing this as the video is playing, over half way through the movie). Was actually looking forward to see a good movie in this topic and story, instead I ended up cursing and being confused more and more as the movie plays.

All in all, a total disappointment.

To those who give 10/10 stars, I can only assume you either work with the production team (and/or sponsors) or are very supportive of someone you know that's related to them.

Story or Script is Really Bad, Directing is Fine, Acting is Cheesy and Cringe (This Acting Looks Like Soap Opera or FTV), Cinematography is Fine, Editing Camera is Really Bad and Broken, CGI is Failed, Production Design is Good, Gatotkaca Costume Design is Okay (Kinda Captain Marvel Little Rip-off), Sound and Music is Really Bad, And The Most Annoying in Movie is A Lot Many Commercial or Ads.

Overall, A Disappointing Indonesia Superhero Movie, I Giving Score is 6/10, The Next Satria Dewa Movie Arjuna is Gonna Be Better Than Gatotkaca.

Might be a good start for a studio name satria dewa, but please fix this movie, i dont have a problem with the visual effect, the problem is with the music and the story, the story was uninteresting and the music was so dramatic. When will indonesian superhero movie will be good? What im saying this movie isn't bad or good, its like low average.

Terrible writing, mediocre acting, cringe dialogue, and too much ugly advertisements.

There is so much plot holes and unexplained things through out the film. No character development at all. I don't feel any emotional attachment to any characters. There's also two useless character that should be just thrown off.

The dialog is boring as h*ll and filled with lots of long expositions. Not follow "show don't tell" rule at all. And don't get me started on the advertisements! Ugh, I understand they need a lot of money to produce a movie, it's normal. But how they show us the advertisements is like an insult to viewers.

I'm glad Hanung Bramantyo (director and writer of this film) not directing Gundala like what it originally planned. Gundala ends up in better hands and not turning like this film.

GATOT KACA does an admirable job of introducing the origins of an Indonesian superhero, providing a detailed exploration of who he is and tracing his journey from an ordinary individual to a celebrated hero. As the film progresses, it continues to unfold new information, effectively expanding the narrative and introducing additional characters that contribute to the overall story.

In terms of improvement, GATOT KACA appears to address and refine several aspects that were seen as shortcomings in other Indonesian superhero films, such as GUNDALA. It seems to build on the lessons learned from its predecessors and presents a more polished and engaging superhero experience.

Visually, the film is a standout. For an Indonesian production, it is quite impressive to see a superhero in flight with all the accompanying spectacular and magical effects. While it may not yet rival the visual grandeur of Marvel superhero films, the film still manages to deliver a visually captivating experience. The special effects and cinematography contribute significantly to the film's appeal, showcasing a superhero genre that is both exciting and unique within the context of Indonesian cinema.
