So glad I found this

First, I actually try to find "home grown" shows. I LOVED Trailer park boys, up until it was taken over by Netflix and "Americanized". (Historically TBP only started Canadians, then they brought in American money, American actors..).

I actually enjoy Canadian shows, with Canadian actors.

This is a fantastic show and I hope it is picked up for additional seasons.

I did not like the "Susan" character on TPB, but they brought Susan Kent in for "The trades" and WOW, she's fantastic.

Not a "kid friendly" show, but MAN is it funny.

So far, "Sensitivity Training" is my fav episode. They have taken this absurdity we see in the workplace and made a mockery out of it on TV and did a great job doing so.

The producers did an amazing job bringing in a stellar set of actors/actresses to make this show what it is. You will be hard pressed to find a character you dont enjoy.

It is interesting seeing "Ricky" (Robb Wells) playing another character, which he does very well.

If you like Canadian comedy and don't mind "how people talk in the real world" give it a try...

No Political preaching, no attempting to brainwash you with propaganda, just some great comedy.

It is nice watching a bunch of Canadian actors working together to provide a great show.

The Trades: A Dull Departure from the Trailer Park Boys Legacy

Wonky at first but packed full of potential

As soon as I saw that "Ricky" from TPB (Robb Wells) was headlining this show, I raced over to IMDB and was shocked to see but a single user review. What???

After having watched two episodes, I can say that this show was a bit wobbly at first, but it really has the potential to go somewhere. Heck, I remember when Letterkenney started, and it was a little rough around the edges as well, and now every dingbat on Youtube is in love with that show.

The Trades is less about, you know, people working blue collar jobs than it is a modern-day sitcom. Besides Ricky, you've got McMurray from LetterKenny (playing a character named "Backwoods"), Tom "my bum is on your lips" Green as perhaps the most substance-addicted human being on the planet, and a full bench of deep talent. There's also a little CGI raccoon (Snax) who's only played a small part, but I think he'll get worked into future storylines.

Unfortunately, IMDB's listing is incomplete, and I can't remember the name of the character played by Jesse Comacho, but he's been absolutely stealing every scene he's been in. And I love all the character names of the cast, including "Taser." Last, but not least, the washroom and its detailed graffiti is a separate character in its own right, so props to whoever did the art on that.

Are you gonna guffaw with laughter at this show? No, at least not right now. But it's got that magical spark that Canadian shows like TPB and Letterkenny shared, so I think it'll gain a loyal following over time. And honestly, props to "Tater Todd" aka Robb Wells for looking a lot healthier and more fit than he did during his Ricky days. Genuinely a charismatic lead.

Yikes, this is bad.

The jokes suck and are so bottom barrel, this show thinks that swearing is automatically funny and of course every character is a complete trope who can't act like a real person for more than five seconds. If that wasn't bad enough, you should see the acting, it is just beyond atrocious, like why does every Canadian sitcom suck so bad? It's got Tom Green in it and he's attempting to act so that should show you how top quality this is. Scenes go on and on with no purpose yet issues get resolved before the episode ends which is great writing. My favourite thing I look at the actors eyes and you can see in every scene that they know what they're doing is garbage.

A perfect bead on this comedy weld - Nailed the concept

This was a much anticipated show for me. I grew up surrounded by tradespeople. My mom was a carpenter in the 80's and my dad was an ironworker - they met on a bus in Calgary....these comedic stories are endless and I think this show is going to prove it. This just hits home for these tired-souls who grind away in these industries and professions just to keep the economy spinnin' round.

I crushed both episodes back to back and had to watch them again. Not only because I was laughing so hard, I wanted to take it all in.

I found myself pausing the show just to read the insults on the bathroom walls. Its raunchy, saucy and sweet, every character made me laugh. The writing and art department knocked this out of the park, the racoon is a nice touch.

I am very excited for the next episode this Friday and cant wait to see where this show progresses. It certainly is no Trailer Park boys - That show is hilarious in its own right, but this show has heart and it seems purposeful. I highly recommend giving it a view, worth the watch.

Trading Down

Well all hope was lost early on and I was wondering if someone had thrown a spanner in the works.

Being a metal trades-person myself for 40 years I found the whole thing boring, the comedy as flat as steel plate. I have seen better humor on the workshop floor, heard better jokes in the smoko room, and had the pleasure of sorting it all at the pub after work where you learn more about life than anywhere else. This was obviously written by and apprentice who has little to no industrial experience, no life skills, and like all kids, thinks dumb S...t is hilarious.

It was so uninteresting I zoned out into old memories that were actually funny and inspiring.

It gets a star for including females in the Tradie mix and one for production values but the material is garbage on the workshop floor.

Apprentice... go see the store-man for me and get a left hand screw-driver, a bucket of sparks and a long weight(wait).... that's funny.

It had a slow start but by Episode 4 it's getting into gear..

Started life as one of the top end trades, in the late 70's. We certainly had this kind of humour and pranks, but factories in those days had just as many women as men working in them, sometimes far more.

And there was almost no graffiti in bathrooms, it was a punishable offence even back then! Can remember a boss saying if you had time for toilet art you're not working hard enough, and we have an easy fix for that!

That said it's starting to find its feet and once the low hanging fruit schoolboy humour stuff is out of the way. The characters are starting to develop, keep going and you may have a blue collar version of The Office..which is no mean feat!

Edit: Season 2 first two opening episodes..oooh dear! Perhaps they need a new piece of graffiti in the scriptwriters restroom..How can you fly with Eagles when you work with Turkeys 🦃

How did this get approved?

One value of a show like this is the employment it provides to people involved in its production and promotion.

I wonder if the producers hired one or several people to downvote negative reviews and contribute 10 out of 10 scores at IMDB. Maybe it's a coincidence that some people leaving 10/10 scores have only one review attached to their profile. That suggests they're here to promote a program, not to write a useful evaluation.

This happens when productions outside the mainstream manage to raise funds that allow them to proceed. This usually involves governments and publicly funded agencies putting up a pile of dollars without any expectation of a return.

Ok y'all...Canucks OR anyone that gets a kick out of blue collar laughs?

THIS one, is for YOU!

I'd never seen "Trailer Park Boys" but there have been many comparisons to that I'm aware of. I went in with no expectations other than good fun! Having seen it, comparisons to The Conners / Roseanne come to mind for my part....

This is streaming on CRAVE and it does NOT disappoint. Ridiculously humorous situations, and loveable characters that have already grown on you by the second episode .... like whatever is in that hot "" (?!!??LOL)...don't want to give it away, so....keeping it light - ever worked in retail? Dealt with a Karen? A cray-cray boss? This one's for you!

I couldn't wait for the second episode and I'm looking forward (beyond) to the next.

The laughs are legitimate. Situations are unexpected but HIGH-larious as they unfold.

Enjoy - I'll be back.

So will you:)

Heads Up: the languagecontent can be appropriately rough - keep the audience in mind as it fits with these characters.

Real life is funny

I worked my whole career in jobs like this, power plants, shipyards, steel mills and machine shops. This is funny because it is so real. I know these people. It does not show the bad side of these jobs like injuries and the day to day drudgery and filth that nobody wants to see. But, there were so many fun and humorous times like this show, which makes this hit home. People who have never done this kind of work will not understand this show, but those of us who have been there will get a giggle out of it. And some people will be offended by the bad language, but @$&? Them. I talk like a Sailor on leave in Singapore all the time.

Refreshing comedy that is rooted in reality!

What I love so far about this show is it's hilarious situational comedy; simultaneously ridiculous & absurd yet striking a refreshing balance of being rooted in reality. Its another really great sitcom utilizing the single camera style to firmly plant itself within its character's world.

To that effect, the characters are very well developed and familiar. I feel like I am watching a slightly exaggerated version of so many people I knew growing up in small town Southern Ontario! I think this is what is giving the series to much heart for me. These characters are also brought to life by a well rounded ensemble cast and so the series does not lean too much on one actor/character either. I again find this...Refreshing!

This is the Canadian Content I love to see! Highly recommend you check it out if you are a fan of: Trailer Park Boys, Superstore, Letterkenny, FUBAR, Parks & Rec.

Great take on blue collar workers!! (Update)

So, decided to watch the first two episodes of the trades. To be honest wasn't sure what to expect. Off the hop, I'm glad to finally see a show that is related to a field of work that represents blue collar workers and bring a comedic spin on the trades.

I work in a refinery for 20+ years and being able to laugh at things that happen day to day to myself and being able to relate, is a breath of fresh air.

Nai sayers may say that it's not what they expected, however, thank god it's not another law office or crime series.

I can't wait to see what this show has to offer because the first two episodes were very entertaining.

*Update*

So I watched episodes 3 and 4 and I have to say, it's totally growing on me. Most comedy shows I watch are usually hard to get into until you get a feel for the show and if you like the characters, but with the trades it's different than most shows. It's not just like watching actors in their living room episode after episode. The fact that this is more of a in the workplace scenario makes it different and better, kind of like the office.

Watching shows like this makes way more relatable for all people. I mean let's be honest, if you have watched the Trades, we all have a Todd at work, we all have a Todd's sister at work and most have a Backwoods (hilarious). It's things like this, that make shows entertaining to watch.

I'm hooked and can't wait for more episodes to air!

Got me hooked!

Fantastic premise for a comedy. We all have been in these types of scenarios at work and fantastic writing to turn it into a comedy series! The soundtrack was hilarious and fitting for the storyline, Cant wait to see how story evolves. Easily could have binge watched the entire first season. Alot of great canadian talent showcased in this series, which should have everyone excited to start watching and give it a shot. Fantastic to see Rob Wells in another comedy and going to have alot more stars coming out of this series... episode 3 cant come soon enough! Signed up for crave just for this show.

Very funny and highly recommend watching

I've been waiting to watch the Trades since I saw the commercials during the Super bowl and it did not disappoint! Such a funny show, I loved the first two episodes.

What can I say about the cast of the show, they brought in some top talent and it shows!

A show like this was needed and I love the way they showing us a job in the trades with some brilliant comedy.

I was excited to see how each of the characters would be in the show and they nailed it!

I strongly suggest getting together with some friend and watching the first two episodes and enjoy some laughs, you will thank me later!

Great job!

Home Town Proud

After already falling for the charm of shows like Letterkenny and Shoresy, and remaining nostalgic for the return of something along the lines of Trailer Park Boys; The Trades is what I didn't realize I was hoping for all along.

Growing up in a blue collar town, and seeing all of the hardest working men I know, represented in a such a fun-loving and genuine way, had me prouder than ever, while also laughing really hard at the mundane yet nuanced intricacies of work politics.

The cast is amazing. Instantly loveable and relatable (depending on where you grew up of course). I highly recommend and can't wait to watch the rest of the season. Long live Conch Industries.

Hilarious depiction of the trades

Loved the first 2 episodes! Can't wait to see the rest of the season. Rob is great as a main character and the supporting cast is hilarious! The chemistry on screen shows and it seems like it's going to be a fun show to follow. The creator/writer/producer Ryan seems like he's got the show going in some great directions. I always love seeing new Canadian talent hit the scene. I've been in the trades for 20 years now and can relate to some of the gags they're playing on eachother. Tom Greens character is over the top and made me laugh out loud. Great start to a great show and I can't wait to see what Ryan and the crew come out with moving forward!

Super funny

Great show. Loving the cast and storylines. Hilarious and relatable stuff. Signed up for Crave just to check out this show and glad I did.

Rob Wells and Dan Petronijevic are such beauties. Perfect pairing.

Super cool to see Tom Green back on television. He's as funny and quirky as ever.

My only complaint is that I can't binge watch the entire season yet. I'm looking forward to seeing what other characters will emerge after these first two episodes. Awesome to see the production company come up with a great Canadian based show, shot in Canada with Canadian actors. This is the next Schitts Creek.

It's Not a Cops or Docs Show

This is a great comedy to show the blue collar side of life. It's not an exact replica of true life but it gives close enough hints to know how it is in the trades, the fun side.

The Trades is a true Canadian comedy. It is a blue collar version of Seinfeld or Friends.

The actors portray the characters perfectly. The use of the raccoon adds a great twist of humour.

The subtle jabs that are had may push the envelope of PC. It is good to see someone doesn't mind giving some lines a hard push in todays soft society all for a good no harm done joke

I am looking forward to seeing where this is going.

A heartfelt Canadian comedy

Just finished watching season two of The Trades on Crave and I'm seriously glad I stumbled on this gem. It's the kind of real-world comedy we don't get enough of-raw, hilarious, and full of heart. The cast absolutely delivers, with standout performances all around.

Tom Green's cameos? Legendary. And Robb Wells-what can I say? The man is a Canadian acting icon and proves it again here.

The show nails the vibe of everyday friendships and real-life situations with characters you can actually relate to and root for. If you're looking for something funny, honest, and uniquely Canadian, The Trades is 100% worth the watch.

Hilarious with heart!

It was nice to see one of the trailer park boys branch out and do something new. He managed to not be the same character and has pulled off a character with heart that we can resonate with. Outside of that guy, the rest of the cast is a hilarious ensemble. The writers did a great job of being quick and witty, with some of the comedy feeling like it can hit with new and old generations. The episodes so far don't drag and I'm always wondering what happens next for Todd. The look and visuals of this show are great They took time to make sure they shot it well! Can't wait to get in the rest of the season and already waiting for another! Keep em coming!
