Varun Dhawan has joined Sunny Deol in the cast of Bollywood war epic “Border 2,” Variety has confirmed.

The film will be directed by Anurag Singh who previously helmed Akshay Kumar-starring “Kesari” (2019), based on the Battle of Saragarhi in which an army of 21 Sikhs fought against 10,000 Afghans in 1897.

“Border 2” is a sequel to J.P. Dutta’s 1997 blockbuster “Border,” also headlined by Deol, where, in 1971, along the border region of Longewala, a small battalion of Indian soldiers combat a large Pakistani strike force.

Gulshan Kumar and T-Series and Dutta’s J.P. Films are presenting “Border 2.” Produced by Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, J.P. Dutta and Nidhi Dutta, the film is due to release on Jan. 23, 2026, during the Republic Day holiday frame.

Dhawan’s recent releases include “Bawaal” and “Bhediya” and he has Prime Video series “Citadel: Honey Bunny” coming up. Deol enjoyed massive box office success in 2023 with “Gadar 2.

Top Bollywood star Ajay Devgn, who has enjoyed a tremendously successful film career combining box office success with critical acclaim, is making his series acting debut with Disney Plus Hotstar series “Rudra: The Edge of Darkness,” the Indian adaptation of the BBC’s “Luther.”

Devgn debuted with action drama “Phool Aur Kaante” (1991) and highlights of his acting career include the “Singham” cop universe films, “Othello” adaptation “Omkara” (2006), the comedy “Golmaal” franchise and historical film “Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior,” the biggest Indian box office hit of 2020. In addition, he has directed “U Me Aur Hum” (2008) and “Shivaay” (2016) with “Runway 34” coming up, and he’s a prolific producer as well with more than 20 titles to his credit.

Top Bollywood star Ajay Devgn and former Disney India head Siddharth Roy Kapur are joining forces to produce comedy-drama film “Gobar!”

Set in the agrarian area of Northern India known as the “cow belt,” during the 1990s, “Gobar!” (literally cow dung or bullshit) is a satire inspired by real events that transpire when an idiosyncratic animal-loving veterinary doctor chances upon a tangled web of corruption in his local state hospital, and decides to stand up against it.

Well-known advertising filmmaker Sabal Shekhawat, who debuted with the acclaimed 2013 indie “Fireflies,” will direct from a script he co-wrote with Sambhit Mishra (“Mission Over Mars”). Casting is currently underway and principal photography will start at the end of the year.

Devgn will produce via his Ajay Devgn Ffilms and Roy Kapur through his Roy Kapur Films.

Actress Sonakshi Sinha says that she doesn't pay much heed to trolls. The actress adds that there was a point when what they said would really bother her, but it does not anymore.

"There used to be a time where I used to get really bothered by what is being said about me on social media by trolls and would react as well. But now I have reached a point where it doesn't affect me at all and I have learned to move on," she informed.

Sonakshi adds that trolls are only people who hide behind their phones and spread negativity. They have no place in her life.

"These guys sitting behind their phones and constantly spewing negativity aren't important to me. My fans have been extremely supportive and that's what matters. I have always been myself on social media and I will continue to keep it 'asli'," she says.

Actor Sharad Kelkar is surprised that the audience is still hesitant to return to the cinema theatres, although other areas of the hospitality and entertainment industry have started to open up, post Covid lockdown.

"People have started going to pubs, coffee shops, restaurants, weddings and even to places like Goa on vacation. People are partying big time, so I don't know why they are not going to the theatres," said Sharad.

"Theatres are much safer, and also there is 50 per cent occupancy. Theaters are regularly cleaned and sanitised. This is one of the biggest industries we have, and it is dependent upon the audience. So I'd request everyone that if you can party, you can also go to the theatre," he added.

Mumbai, Jan 13 (Ians) Bollywood star Ajay Devgn informed on Wednesday that he has almost wrapped up shooting for the first schedule of his upcoming directorial MayDay.

The actor further revealed that he will begin shooting for the next schedule very soon.

"It's always immensely satisfying to be on set. One long schedule almost wrapped, next one is around the corner. #ShootModeOn #Mayday #filmcrew," Ajay Devgn shared on Instagram.

Devgn began shooting for MayDay in December last year. He stars in the thriller with Amitabh Bachchan, Rakul Preet Singh and Angira Dhar.

MayDay marks Ajay Devgn's return to direction after Shivaay and U Me Aur Hum. He will also produce the film.

Apart from MayDay, Devgn will also feature in the sports drama Maidaan, Indra Kumar's slice-of-life comedy film Thank God, and the period dramas Bhuj: The Pride Of India and SS Rajamouli's Rrr.

Mumbai, Nov 7 (Ians) Ajay Devgn is all set to direct Amitabh Bachchan in a film titled Mayday that will also see the two actors reunite before the camera.

Big B and Ajay have worked together in "Major Sahab", "Khakee", "Satyagraha", and "Hindustan Ki Kasam", and the new film, which belongs to the drama genre, sees the two stars collaborate after over seven years. Their last outing together, "Satyagraha", released in August 2013.

"Mayday" is being dubbed as "a thrilling, absolute edge-of-the-seat human-drama". It is said that Ajay will be seen playing a pilot. Details about Big B's character are being kept under wraps. The rest of the cast is still being finalised. The film is produced by Ajay Devgn.

Raindance Film Festival will premiere 11 short films shot remotely by students of the National Youth Film Academy who worked together throughout the Covid-19 pandemic as part of the Set Ready course initiative. The films will screen in Raindance’s Off-Competition section Oct. 28 – Nov. 4.

Each of the shorts will screen at the Odeon Greenwich with in-person crowds of invited friends, family and crowdfund donors. Four additional films from National Youth Film Academy students will also premiere in the Off-Competition section, selected at the Emerging Brits Industry Showcase in February earlier this year.
