El último justo

The photographer of war Teo Arroyo (Diego Martín) returns to his hometown and meets his girlfriend Victoria (Goya Toledo) in a hotel. However, two men break in his room, one to kill him and the other to protect him and Victoria is also shot and dies. Before dying, his protector asks him to hide. When Teo goes to his home, he finds that his dog Zeus was also murdered.

Teo meets a young woman, Miryam (Ana Claudia Talancón), who helps him to hide from the police detectives and from the killers that are hunting him down. Teo finds that a sect is killing the thirty people that have been chosen by God to protect the world and he is the last chosen one alive. Will Teo escape from the religious organization?

"El Último Justo" is a religious thriller with a predictable and unoriginal story. There are no surprises in neither in the twists nor in the conclusion. My vote is five.

A supernatural and religious thriller with noisy action , chills , suspense and violence . The premise is the following : two old armies have been secretly battling since the beginning of time . As 36 people have been chosen by God to maintain the equilibrium of world as we know it . But many of these chosen ones have been methodicaly chased and eliminated along the history , step by step they have been exterminated . Nowadays , it is time to take down the last of the chosen ones . What would you do if the world was going to end when the saviours disappear? . Present day , after years of fighting , there only one Just man left , Theo : Diego Martin, as he is suddenly involved into an ancient battle , being helped by a strange young woman : Ana Claudia Talancon, against an army of evil villains , led by Federico Luppi as the puzzle man , and his hoodlums : Brian Thompson , who want to destroy the human races in order to regenerate them. .

Decent spiritual thriller with thrills , chills and the action moments are fast moving and compactly realized , including functional special effects . This is an effective and interesting mystery thriller with graphic violence and action filled that will enjoy the action buffs . It results to be exciting because of its rich analysis about the evil and goodness represented by the guardians of the Apocalypse , The Just , including a final judgement to depend on their survival . Starred by Diego Martin as a war photographer who suffers a hot pursuit in which he is both the cause and the objective. And a nice support cast such as Ana Claudia Talancon , Federico Luppi , Brian Thompson , Raul Nuñez , Antonio Dechent as an stubborn police inspector and a brief role by Goya Toledo .

It displays a colorful and dark cinematography by Javier Salmones , a professional cameraman who has photographed notorious titles as Romasanta, Matar el tiempo, Martes Carnaval , Finisterre , Capitan Trueno y Santo Grial . And a frightening and moving musical score by Zacarias De Riva who has composed important and successful scores : Hierro , Machinist , Automata , Tadeo Jones , Bent and Black snow . Being competently produced by the Spanish prestigious "Filmax" production ,expert on terror/ Mystery movies : Carlos Fernandez , Julio Fernandez and Sandra Fernandez . This Spanish/Mexican coproduction was well written and directed by Manuel Carballo , though it has a few gaps . He has directed shorts , documentary and TV movies such as : Returned , Possession of Emma Evans , 13 Miedos and Reinas Tv series . Rating : 6/10 . Acceptable and passable mysterious movie . Well worth watching .
