    High Paced, Frantic, But Enjoyable

At under an hour, this film rapidly establishes the stakes in the films antagonists and objectives. It's one of the few times in the series (film or otherwise) that the main crew come across as vulnerable to what are overall not so threatening opponents.

That being said, once the crew get past their vulnerabilities, the movie is virtually concluded. It's debatable if the two movie newcomers are necessary to the film's plot, but they do provide some emotional weight and story motivations. They may simply exist to help buffer the incredibly frantic pacing.

    DEVIL WORLD

One Piece: Clockwork Island Adventure (2001) is the second One Piece film, following One Piece: The Movie.

One of the film's biggest strengths is its energetic and fast-paced storytelling. The Straw Hat crew, still in its early days (before later members like Robin and Franky join), embark on a mission to recover their stolen ship, the Going Merry. This setup immediately grabs attention, as losing their ship is a high-stakes scenario for the crew. The animation, while dated by today's standards, is vibrant and captures the essence of the series' cartoony, exaggerated style. The island itself, with its clockwork theme, offers a unique setting that distinguishes it from typical One Piece locations.

The humor is another highlight. Luffy's goofy antics, Sanji's flirtations, and Usopp's cowardly bravado are all in full force, making it feel like a proper One Piece adventure. The interactions between the crew are entertaining and showcase their early dynamics, which longtime fans can appreciate.

However, the film suffers from a weak antagonist and predictable plot. Bear King, the main villain, lacks the complexity and charisma of One Piece's stronger antagonists. His goal-marrying Nami and ruling Clockwork Island-is generic, and he doesn't pose a significant enough threat to make the conflict feel urgent. The action scenes, while enjoyable, don't reach the heights of the main series' major battles, as they follow a formulaic structure where each Straw Hat gets their moment to shine before Luffy predictably defeats the villain.

Another drawback is its lack of lasting impact. Unlike later One Piece films such as Strong World or Film Z, which tie into the overarching story or explore deeper themes, Clockwork Island Adventure feels self-contained and ultimately forgettable. The story doesn't add anything meaningful to the One Piece universe, making it an optional watch rather than an essential experience.

For hardcore One Piece fans, Clockwork Island Adventure offers a nostalgic look at the Straw Hat crew in their early days. It's fun, lighthearted, and a decent way to spend an hour, but it lacks the emotional depth and strong storytelling of later One Piece films. Casual viewers or newcomers might not find much to hold their interest, as it doesn't showcase the best of what One Piece has to offer. If you're a completionist, it's worth a watch, but don't expect it to leave a lasting impression.

    Rating: 8.1/10.

A very fun swirl of action, adventure, and comedy

The nice thing about Toei's first 'One Piece' film of 2000 was that it required no previous knowledge or experience to appreciate, and it was a pretty great time all on its own. With a wild, fantastical, cartoonish blend of action and comedy in its high seas adventure - and just the right amount of heart to round things out - the only issue I had with the prior film was its ridiculously swift pacing, which served as its own de facto upper limits on what it could achieve. This, the second installment in the film series, also emphatically struggles with an astonishing velocity that sometimes regrettably reduces dialogue, gags, action, or entire scenes to a mere flash. On the other hand, it also bears all the same strengths as its predecessor, and it further benefits from a more polished art style that makes the whole all the richer. 'Clockwork Island adventure' is no more an essential must-see than 'One Piece: The movie' was, but it's a reliably good time from start to finish; what more could we ask for?

The artists of Toei Animation really turned in outstanding work this time around, with even more wonderful detail and texture in the highly imaginative designs for beautiful backgrounds and settings, colorful and fanciful characters, fast-paced action sequences, otherwise vibrant active elements, and so on and so on. This franchise is one that banks on very exaggerated expressions and reactions befitting a world of superhuman powers, monstrous creatures, and non-human characters, but at all times there's gratifying refinement and fluidity in the visuals that makes it all a joy to watch (even as it flies past too speedily). With such a noted improvement on hand, it quite seems to me that this dares to be even more far-fetched and whimsical with the ideas that it throws together, invariably bolstering the viewing experience. Even at that it's not as if the animation is altogether revelatory, but it's a welcome sight for sore eyes and is a big part of what makes the picture so entertaining.

Much the same could be said for the spirited performances of the voice cast, and Tanaka Kohei's dynamic, flavorful music. Meanwhile, all such value necessarily flows from the screenplay of Hashimoto Hiroshi, and I think that the writing is also more solid and admirable than was already seen in the antecedent. No, the story isn't specifically groundbreaking; sure, the narrative sometimes makes some leaps with suspension of disbelief to conjure what is entertaining, and certainly not what would reflect judicious storytelling. But the tale is engaging and enjoyable exactly as it is, the characters are a blast - and whether any given scene is built for comedy, action, adventure, or some combination thereof, each in turn is downright delicious in its blend while laying the groundwork for the animators to demonstrate their skill and ingenuity. With a bit more of a mind for violence in this entry, a slightly but definitely darker overall tone, and arguably a meatier plot, I wouldn't hesitate to say that 'Clockwork Island adventure' is a step up from its forebear.

It's still the case that the overly quick pacing somewhat dampens the effectiveness of the action and comedy, and the only necessary revision would have been a smidgen more restraint (presumably on the part of director Shimizu Junji). Yet this flick only wanted to have fun, and from top to bottom it handily does just that with excellent contributions from all involved. I assumed that given the chance to check out 'One Piece' for myself I'd like it, and as I've begun dipping my toes in with the full-length features, that has absolutely proven to be the case so far. There's no need to go out of your way for 'Clockwork Island adventure,' but it's a terrific slice of anime adventure that should surely check off all the proverbial boxes for anyone who is receptive to the relatively unserious, swashbuckling lark that the series offers. If you have the chance to watch, I'm pleased to give this my enthusiastic recommendation!

Why Does He Have A Fart Man On His Crew?

One Piece: Clockwork Island Adventure Is such a waste of a movie, I Have Nothing positive to say about it.

I know it's kind of hard what I wrote, the movie not God awful, but it's such and nothing movie that it's become saddening.

But the villains are such a pathetic bunch of pirates that it's hard to give even a single damn about them.

The paising of the movie goes by so fast, that it's hard to know where you are, or What is really going on, and because of that it really hard to connect to anything that is happening, It's just so much fast-pacing that is just a blur.

The straw hat pirates don't get any memorable moments, or any good fight , So it's just meh experience all around.

The first movie was very basic, but it did basic very good. This is not do anything good, It's not even good fill up by one piece standards.

If you're one piece fan that wanna to watch all the movies, I cannot stop you but for everybody else stay away.

One Piece's entertaining full length sequel!

In the second One Piece movie, our heroes are relaxing on a beach. Right until Luffy noticed that the "Going Merry" has been hijacked and departs from the coast line. Now they're drifting at sea to search for their stolen ship. They met up with the Thief Brothers: Borodo & Akisu(no relation) who gave them information that their ship is in the hands of the Trump Sibling Pirates. Who have taken control on Clockwork Island. After encountering the Trump minions and Nami(who has Luffy's hat) taken as a hostage. The straw Hat Pirates & the Thief Brothers must go to Clockwork Island to reclaim the Going Merry, Shank's straw hat, Nami, and the Diamond Clock(which the Thief Brothers find to be the most well crafted clock of all).

I give credit that this sequel feels like a movie rather than a 2 parter episode. Because it didn't had reused TV opening and closing. The animation and CG is very well done for this film. The cast of characters along with the main are interesting and well thought up. The story had a fast pace to it, so it didn't had any dull moment to it. But since it's One Piece it's meant to be as entertaining as the TV series itself. Plus the montage ending features characters who appear later in the series.

Overall a worthy sequel that all One Piece Fan will admire. Again the fan sub for it is easy to find off the internet or bootlegs.
