Brand, 49, was charged last month with one count of rape, one count of indecent assault, one count of oral rape and two counts of sexual assault, in connection with incidents involving four different women that took place between 1999 and 2005.

The allegations were first made in a joint The Sunday Times, The Times and Channel 4 Dispatches investigation in September 2003.

Russell Brand has been charged with rape, indecent assault and sexual assault by London’s Metropolitan Police.

The charges relate to four separate women and incidents that took place between 1999 and 2005.

According to the police, detectives had begun investigating in September 2023 after receiving a number of allegations following a major expose undertaken by both Channel 4’s Dispatches and the Sunday Times.

The 50-year-old has previously denied the allegations.

“The women who have made reports continue to receive support from specially trained officers,” said detective superintendent Andy Furphy, who is leading the investigation. “The Met’s investigation remains open and detectives ask anyone who has been affected by this case, or anyone who has any information, to come forward and speak with police.”

Russell Brand has been charged with rape, indecent assault and sexual assault by London’s Metropolitan Police, with the comedian and TV host saying he is “incredibly grateful” to be able to defend the charges in court.

The police said this afternoon that Brand has been charged with one count of rape, one count of indecent assault, one count of oral rape and two counts of sexual assault after detectives started investigating 18 months back.

The investigation was sparked by allegations reported by Channel 4 and the Sunday Times. The charges relate to four separate women. It has been alleged that Brand raped a woman in Bournemouth in 1999; indecently assaulted a woman in 2001 in Westminster, London; orally raped and sexually assaulted a woman in Westminster in 2004; and between 2004 and 2005 sexually assaulted a woman, also in Westminster.

Regina Hall is set to star with Will Ferrell and Zac Efron in an untitled comedy film from Amazon MGM Studios.

Nicholas Stoller is directing the project from his own script, with the movie previously titled Judgment Day. The feature reunites the director with Ferrell following their collaboration on You’re Cordially Invited, which launched on Prime Video earlier this year and also stars Reese Witherspoon.

The new film centers on a young convict (Efron) who gets out of prison and takes an unscripted TV courtroom hostage, as he is convinced that the judge (Ferrell) delivered a ruling that destroyed his life. Details regarding Hall’s role are being kept under wraps.

Jonah Hill is set to direct and star in the comedy feature Cut Off for Warner Bros.

The film has landed a $10 million California tax credit and is expected to begin production later this year. Cut Off, which has not yet solidified its cast, centers on a pair of fraternal twins whose wealthy parents stop supporting them financially.

Hill recently wrapped production on the Apple feature Outcome, which is slated for release later this year and stars Hill opposite Keanu Reeves, Cameron Diaz and Matt Bomer. Hill produced the film through his Strong Baby banner alongside Matt Dines and Ali Goodwin.

Strong Baby is also behind the Benito Skinner-led series Overcompensating from Amazon and A24.

Hill’s previous movies as director include Mid90s and the Netflix documentary Stutz. His recent onscreen credits include You People, Don’t Look Up, The Beach Bum and Don’t Worry, He Won’t Get Far on Foot.

“Elle,” the “Legally Blonde” prequel series, has found Elle’s mom.

June Diane Raphael has joined the Amazon Prime Video project as Eva, joining the previously announced Lexi Minetree as Elle. The series follows a younger Elle Woods, who was played by Reese Witherspoon in the two “Legally Blonde” films, finding her footing in high school.

“Elle” is created by Laura Kittrell, who is an executive producer and co-showrunner alongside Caroline Dries. Witherspoon is executive producing the show through her Hello Sunshine banner, alongside Lauren Neustadter and Marc Platt. The first two episodes will be directed by Jason Moore. “Elle” is produced by Hello Sunshine and Amazon MGM Studios.

The original 2001 “Legally Blonde” film was a box office success, grossing over $140 million worldwide. Its sequel, “Legally Blonde 2: Red, White, and Blonde,” was released in 2003. A direct-to-video third film came out in 2009, which Witherspoon produced but did not star in.

Russell Brand has shut down his addiction and mental health charity, UK media revealed yesterday.

The Sun newspaper reports that the national Charity Commission was told back in September 2024 that the comedian turned online guru’s Stay Free Foundation “no longer operates,” and was removed from the official register of charities last month.

Brand founded the charity following his own recovery from heroin addiction in 2003. He was a frequent advocate for health services to provide more support for addicts, and in 2013 made a documentary about the subject for the BBC.

The move follows a 2023 investigation jointly between Channel 4’s Dispatches programme and The Sunday Times newspaper, in which four women accused him of sexual assault between 2006 and 2013. Brand denies all allegations against him, saying he is the victim of an establishment smear campaign. He recently moved to the US from his home in the UK.

Despite airing late in the fourth quarter when the game was already decided, the commercial had fans talking and the consensus was, the beloved franchise needs to return, and it needs to be done right.
