Dorm of the Dead

I know some of the people involved in this and they are all truly nice people and I was glad to do them the favor by appearing in a cameo role as The Doom Sayer at the beginning of the picture much like Criswell did at the opening of the Three Ed Wood Films he did. It was fun. I brought my own costume and improvised the opening in about five minutes. We shot another improv where I appear as a girls father and her horny date shows up and starts to talk about anal sex. It was stupid and sort of funny but SOme older woman who was there started to object in the middle of the scene so that was that. It didn't even appear as a special feature. The rest of the film well...It's pretty effin bad. Pretty much an excuse to show off some lovely young things and waste your time and money. If you care to rub one out to some very soft core erotica then be my guest just don't do it to my part. You have been warned. Dukey Flyswatter

All right first I'll vent my beefs' with the film. Number one the makeup and gore effects were pretty bad, even for a no budget film. Plus there was no suspense, or zombie money shots. Second the soundtrack, which had a couple decent rock tunes, but also featured some really weird out of place techno music during a love scene, that was quite laughable. Number three and maybe this isn't so bad, the film only went barely an hour. Really a three rating is generous, the only good thing I can say is the women looked good, and Tiffany Shepis is always a pleasure to watch. Speaking of Tiffany, she has a lesbian scene in this film, that ends way to soon and shows little. Other then that, this film really should have upped the sleaze factor, as the brief nudity in the film was all it had going for it. Sorry to say skip this one.

Everything was the worst attempt at everything. The acting was so stiff and stilted as if nobody really had any character motivation. The sound and lighting changed with every camera shot. Some shots were bright, some were dark. Some ambient background sound was loud then low. The background scenery didn't match from one shot to the next. I want to say that the editing sucked too, but the editor didn't really have much to work with to put together a coherent story.

This would be a great teaching tool for film students to see why you should and shouldn't do certain things. It feels like this movie was just thrown together over a weekend.

This film is an oddity, it's shot on different film stocks(actually video formats). It was clearly expanded with new unrelated scenes edited into its' runtime. More gore and nudity seemed to have been spliced in. The scenes that include Tiffany Shepis, have a much darker tone then when our heroines are together. The acting is all over the board, ranging from awful to quirky. What made this movie for me however is not the movie itself. The film ends at roughly 65 minutes, but there is a 7 min scene following the initial credits, that actually had me burst out laughing, and what was so surprising was that it was supposed to be funny! This felt like a student film and it probably started as one. I wouldn't recommend this to everyone, but there does seem to be some heart in it.

I'm a fan of Jackey Hall's and loved her in DORM OF THE DEAD. She plays a bitchy college girl who ends up turning her worst enemy into a zombie. If you like down and dirty zombie flicks, DORM OF THE DEAD will fit the bill! The two other girls in this movie I liked are Tiffany Shepis and Ciara Richards. Tiffany is pretty well known - I have seen her before in THE HAZING, SCARECROW, the trailer for HOMESIC and TED BUNCY. Ciara is a new actress but she actually had the biggest role in DORM OF THE DEAD. She plays a goth girl who ends up being turned into a zombie by Jackey. Also the music in DORM OF THE DEAD is incredible - sounds like someone was trying to copy Rob Zombie but doing a good job of it.
