Otis Dean's Union Jack carrier bag bears the logo "I'm Backing Britain" - this was a short-lived patriotic campaign in early 1968, aimed at boosting the British economy by getting staff to undertake an extra unpaid half-day's work in order to boost the country's financial status. Soon deemed wildly optimistic, the campaign folded not long after.

After going to great lengths to tape-record the first telephone contact from Jennifer's kidnapper, Adam doesn't bother to whatsoever for the second one (which they are expecting), as doing this would not serve the plot any further. In reality an investigator would be keen for as many clues to be discovered as possible to trace the missing girl.
