The Weirdest '00s Anime Just Got a Lot Easier to Watch, But Only For a Limited Time
Image
Anyone who watched Toonami in the mid-2000s likely has a fever-dream-like memory of a bizarre show about a man who fought with his nose hair. But that wasn't just a dream--it was Bobobo-bo Bo-bobo.

Bobobo-bo Bo-bobo was a 2005 series that parodied many shonen tropes. It had the strange premise of a world falling under the control of an emperor who hates hair, and sends out squads of goons to loot villages and shave everyone bald. The evil emperor is opposed by Bobobo, a rebel who fights using the "Super Fist of the Nose Hair."

Now, Bobobo-bo Bo-bobo is back after years of being incredibly hard to find, thanks to Toei Animation. However, fans will need to be quick if they want to enjoy the full series, as the bizarre Japanese comedy series will only be around for a limited time.

10 Comedy Anime That Took The Joke Too Far
Image
A great anime comedy can always bring smiles to viewers' faces. The best titles in the genre can deliver satisfying gags and characters that keep people hungry for more. Characters from popular comedies like Kaguya-sama: Love is Warhave become iconic figures in the anime community for years. However, every so often, a great anime series can overwhelm its viewers with its gags.

Comedy series must always walk a fine line between balancing outrageous gags with their more quiet, dramatic moments. A series that leans too heavily into the same comedic gags can risk becoming stale if there isn't anything to break them up. It's fine for comedy anime to lean into being silly, but too much of it can steer fans away from the show. This might even lead to the series declining in popularity and losing its momentum.

10 Confusing Manga That Only Make Less Sense The More You Read
Image
For every shōnen action manga series or 'by the numbers' isekai storyline, there's bound to be others that have the opposite problem. Plenty of manga will start with intriguing storylines that slowly unravel readers' brains as the characters and story beats become less consistent. Interesting characters from early chapters can become lost in the shuffle in the chaos of what's happening in the story. It contributes to readers being hit with the feeling that the manga they're reading can move too quickly.

However, these flawed stories can still fascinate in their own way. Sometimes, a reader may not want to read a story that makes perfect sense. Being able to turn their brain off and enjoy a chaotic story could fulfil in its own right. These series might not be easy to follow, but the amount of confusion they bring is still fascinating.

10 Confusing Anime That Only Make Less Sense The More You Watch

Many anime have well-thought-out plots, full of intrigue and plot twists. Their stories are crafted by masters who want to leave an impact on manga and anime fans. However, just because many anime value their storytelling, the same cannot be said of every anime.

Other anime prefer to leave fans surprised and bewildered with random happenstances that make less and less sense the more the series progresses. While a good story is entertaining at times, sometimes fans prefer nonsensical fun that leaves them scratching their heads.

Crunchyroll's Latest Shonen Jump Anime Is So Good It Doesn't Need the Three Episode Rule
Image
The Elusive Samurai's animation impresses before the third episode, showcasing memorable visual spectacles. Early breakout character Suwa Yorishige delivers hilarious visual gags and fourth-wall-breaking jokes. The anime blends excellent visuals, humor, and historical elements to create a must-watch series.

Shonen Jump has done it yet again, with the most recent anime adaptation of its gorgeous manga, The Elusive Samurai, making a potent impression on Crunchyroll viewers. This is no surprise for fans of Yusei Matsui, given his acclaimed work on Assassination Classroom and Neuro: Spiritual Detective, and even contributions to classics like Bobobo-bo Bo-bobo. Weirdest Gag Humor Anime
Image
Anime is a versatile medium that's able to effortlessly tackle different genres, whether that's romance, action, horror, or even wild comedic tangents. Plenty of anime are full of comedic moments and even some of the medium's more serious series like Cowboy Bebop and Neon Genesis Evangelion still indulge in big laughs. However, there is also a special breed of comedic anime that delight in pushing boundaries and breaking reality to better service outrageous gags at an overwhelming pace.

Gag anime prioritize jokes above everything else, which often results in humor that must be seen to be believed. Gag comedy anime can be an acquired taste, but there are some wonderful and weird examples to check out.

Canceled Anime That Are Still Worth Starting
Image
Hundreds of new anime hit the airwaves every year and with so much content to explore it’s easy to get caught up with the most popular success stories instead of the messier misfires that don’t last. Every anime fan knows about Dragon Ball, Sailor Moon, and Cowboy Bebop, but not all anime get to end on their own terms and fully finish their stories.

A number of factors can contribute to an anime’s cancelation whether it’s poor ratings, budgetary issues, or disagreements between the production studio and the broadcast network. However, a canceled anime is not always analogous to a bad anime. It’s unfair to completely write off these anime and even though they met early ends they’re still able to accomplish a lot and deserve to be seen.

Top Five Most Wanted Fighting Games for the 3Ds
Fighting games have become popular on the Nintendo 3Ds with Super Street Fighter 4, Samurai Warriors: Chronicles and Dead or Alive: Dimensions hitting the handheld earlier this year and with Super Smash Brothers, BlazBlue: Continuum Shift 2 and Tekken to be released sometime in the future I thought that it would be a good time to reveal the top games that I think should be released for the console.

Thinking about the graphics, controls and features on the hardware, I looked at many fighting games and while I would like to see Guilty Gear, Ready 2 Rumble, Vs. Capcom, Killer Instinct, Dissidia: Final Fantasy, Street Fighter Alpha and Virtua Fighter all come onto the 3Ds, I restricted myself to five.

If there is a fighting game that you would like to see be released for Nintendo’s console or have any opinions of the games listed, please feel free to comment below.

This Week in Comics: 02/22/10
Does the lack of ambient tracks on Lodger bother anyone else? Obviously after the brilliance of Low and “Heroes” the Eno/Bowie collaboration was starting to wane on Lodger, but the lack of ambient tracks makes it feel more like another transition record a la Young Americans to Station to Station. Except this time it’d be a transition to Scary Monsters (and Super Creeps), which isn’t very similar to Lodger, from what I remember.

So welcome to This Week in Comics, which has nothing to do with David Bowie.
