“Amy is a world-class executive and producer whose track record speaks for itself,” Affleck said in a statement. “She brings a wealth of experience, not only in leadership roles at major studios, including our valued partner in Sony Pictures,...

Will Smith's Critically Panned Sci-Fi Action Film With 12% Rt Score Is Losing Its Streaming Home Soon
Image
A 12-year-old sci-fi adventure film that ranks among acting legend Will Smith's career lowlights is set to leave the streaming spotlight very soon. Fans have little time to check out the Smith-led effort, After Earth, on Netflix before it becomes an afterthought.

Netflix has confirmed that After Earth will be one of several movies leaving its platform on Sept. 1. It's the second time After Earth will depart a streaming service this summer, after leaving the Disney-owned Hulu in July, six months after it hit the service.

Directed by polarizing filmmaker M. Night Shyamalan, After Earth was the latest sci-fi entry on a resume for Smith that includes the Men in Black franchise,...

When Will Smith Began Filming This Blockbuster Sequel With An Unfinished Script: “The Decision Sony Made Was…”
Image
Which Movie Did Will Smith Begin Filming Without A Finished Script?(Photo Credit –Instagram)

Back in 2012, Men in Black 3 kicked off production without a finished script, and somehow, it still turned out to be one of Will Smith’s biggest hits. Risky move? Absolutely. However, Smith and director Barry Sonnenfeld believed the studio’s bold play had merit.

In fact, Sonnenfeld stood by the chaos, saying (via Newsweek), “Starting the movie without an absolutely finished script is not normally the right way to do movies. But I feel the decision Sony made was the right decision. On this one, we might still be waiting for the script. Sometimes, if you just dip your toe in, you’ll never dive in because it’s too stupidly cold.”

That icy plunge didn’t stop Men in Black 3 from pulling in a cool $624 million worldwide. Sure, it didn’t match the pop-culture explosion of the 1997 original,...

When Will Smith Reflected On Heartbreak As A Father After Jaden’s Emancipation Request Following After Earth Flop: ‘He Felt Misled & Lost His Trust.’
Image
Will Smith reflects on his heartbreak as a father after Jaden’s emancipation request (Photo Credit – Instagram)

Will Smith’s blockbuster-filled career may look like an endless highlight reel, but one flop left him devastated—not for himself, but for his son, Jaden. In his memoir, Will, the King Richard star opens up about a painful chapter from 2013 when he and Jaden took a chance with After Earth.

The After Earth Fallout: Will and Jaden Smith’s Toughest Challenge

After Earth wasn’t just a box-office bomb; it shook Will and Jaden Smith’s bond to the core. The father-son duo hoped to deliver sci-fi magic, but critics—and audiences—were unimpressed. Instead of a cinematic triumph, they faced one of Hollywood’s harshest flops, forever altering their on-screen dreams. To add salt to the wound, Jaden—just 15 at the time—was receiving harsh media and fan backlash. “Fans and...

30 Actors Who Looked Completely Unrecognisable in Their Roles After Extreme Movie Transformations
Image
Movie-making is an art, no doubt about it. But some actors treat it like a full-contact sport. Behind every unforgettable performance, there’s often an insane amount of preparation. For some stars, that means going way beyond just memorizing lines. We’re talking hours in the makeup chair, extreme movie transformations, and physical sacrifices that make you wonder if they ever found their way back to normal life.

Actors like Christian Bale, Matthew McConaughey, and Charlize Theron don’t just play a character. They live the characters they play. Whether it’s dropping or gaining a shocking amount of weight, piling on prosthetics, or vanishing behind layers of makeup, these transformations blur the line between actor and character in the best possible way.

Directors love it because it keeps things grounded in reality without relying on heavy CGI. And for us as viewers, it makes the entire movie feel that much more immersive.

Jaden Smith’s Acting Retirement: What is Will Smith’s Son Doing Now?
Image
Jaden Smith has largely disappeared from his on-screen roles in recent years. He has also had long periods of absence from acting in the past. His last major on-screen appearance was alongside Cara Delevingne in the 2020 film Life in a Year. Smith hasn’t officially announced his retirement from acting, but it appears that he has shifted his focus to music, where he’s more successful.

Will Smith’s son first impressed us with his performance in The Pursuit of Happyness, which won multiple awards. He played 5-year-old Christopher Gardner Jr. in the film. He later appeared as Dre Parker alongside the legendary Jackie Chan in The Karate Kid.

Both this film and his collaboration with Justin Bieber for the song, Never Say Never, elevated his popularity at the time. He later released his debut mixtape, The Cool Cafe: Cool Tape Vol. 1, in 2012. However, he was devastated after his lead...

Image
Reacher became a household name for Amazon Prime Video, leaving fans clamoring for more shows as good as this. Well, it’s always a good time to watch Patriot, a comedy-drama show that’s from the same streamer. It has two critically acclaimed seasons, with the second one earning an impressive perfect rating.

Unfortunately, Patriot was not renewed for Season 3, which was a bummer for many fans. With the evident success of Reacher, Prime Video needs to pick up and revive Patriot to keep the streamer’s winning momentum.

Patriot Earned Critical Acclaim but Got Buried Under Prime Video’s Algorithm

Created by Steven Conrad, writer of The Pursuit of Happyness, Patriot follows an intelligence officer who went undercover to prevent Iran from going nuclear. The series was a massive success, but it seemed like no one had ever heard of it.

Image
It’s been a quiet 2025 for Will Smith so far after starring in Bad Boys: Ride or Die last year, but one of the actor’s oldest and most iconic projects has returned to streaming charts years later. Smith stars alongside Tommy Lee Jones (No Country for Old Men) and Vincent D’Onofrio (Daredevil: Born Again) in Men in Black, the 1997 sci-fi comedy following agents of a secret government agency that investigates extraterrestrial life on Earth. Men in Black is currently streaming on Starz, and it’s one of the most popular movies in America on the streamer, sitting at #6 at the time of writing. Men in Black earned a “certified fresh” 91% from critics and an 81% from audiences on Rotten Tomatoes, and it also grossed a whopping $589 million at the box office against a $90 million budget.

Major Issue With Will Smith’s ‘Pretty Girls’: It Sounds So Much Better After a Fan Fixes It
Image
Will Smith’s attempt at a comeback in the music world has met with criticism from all over. Fans have found his new song, Pretty Girls, and its music video pretty cringeworthy. In the song, Smith professes his love (some would say lust) for pretty girls, whether they are “vanilla, chocolate, strawberry, lemon”, or any other flavor. Yes, it’s that bad!

One of the biggest issues with the song was its tempo, which felt off for many fans. It’s truly surprising, given that he collaborated with DJ Jazzy Jeff. Smith and Jeff paired together for the ’90s hits, including Summertime and Boom! Shake the Room. However, fans on X found a way to make it sound much better.

Jaden Smith Outperformed Sylvester Stallone’s Bad Acting in Robert De Niro’s 31%-Rated Film
Image
It might be hard to imagine Jaden Smith outperforming major Hollywood names like Sylvester Stallone, but surprisingly, there’s one area where he did outshine the Oscar-nominated star: winning the Worst Actor award for an underwhelming performance in the 2013 sci-fi action film.

The films in question are Smith’s After Earth and Stallone’s Grudge Match, both of which were critically panned upon release. However, when it came time to decide who delivered the weaker performance, the dishonor ultimately went to Jaden Smith.

Jaden Smith’s post-apocalyptic survival tale that crashed on arrival

Jaden Smith appeared to be a rising star after his acclaimed performances in films like The Pursuit of Happyness and The Karate Kid. However, he struggled to maintain that momentum in subsequent roles, most notably in the 2013 sci-fi action film After Earth.

Why Jaden Smith's Dre Parker Didn't Return For Karate Kid: Legends
Image
It has been 15 years since the release of "The Karate Kid," which was originally a loose remake of the 1984 film of the same name. While the original film starred Ralph Macchio and Pat Morita as the student and the teacher, respectively, the 2010 film starred Jaden Smith and Jackie Chan in the same dynamic. At the time of its release, the 2010 film was nothing more than a modern adaptation of the 1984 coming-of-age classic, borrowing the title while changing the martial arts specialty to Kung Fu and relocating the setting to Beijing, China.

However, while the 2010 "Karate Kid" film remained standalone from the original four entries in the franchise for more than a decade, it was officially incorporated into the canon of the established franchise, with the latest entry, "Karate Kid: Legends." In the new film, we see the return of Mr. Han (Jackie Chan), as well as Daniel Larusso (Ralph Macchio...

Despite Its Horrible Rt Score, This Movie Is Will Smith’s Most Underrated Work
Image
Will Smith is one of the most recognizable names in Hollywood. From blockbuster franchises like Men in Black and Independence Day to critically acclaimed performances in Ali and The Pursuit of Happyness, Smith has proven his versatility time and time again. While his movies have collectively raked in billions, not all of his work gets the recognition it really deserves.

Among his vast filmography lies a film that didn’t receive much love when it first hit theaters. Sometimes it takes time for people to realise what a real gem is. It has since found its place in the hearts of viewers. The name of the movie is Focus.

Though it was released to mixed reviews and a modest box office performance, Focus brought something unique to the table. A crime drama with a splash of romance and humor, this 2015 film starring Will Smith and Margot Robbie is an underrated gem that deserves more appreciation.

Interview with cast from Lucky Star (2024): This pressure that builds and builds, and then – bam
Image
In Gillian McKercher‘s first feature, “Lucky Star”, there is no escapist fantasy or whiff of bicoastal elitism. Instead, there are only temptations: Lucky (Terry Chen), an ex-gambler, starts to reach for the cards after he falls for a tax scam; his wife Noel (Olivia Cheng) wrestles with returning a lost watch amounting to the tens of thousands; their eldest, Grace (Conni Miu), wonders if she should confess her academic dishonesty. All the while, their youngest, Jenny (Summer Ly) presides over the family discord. As the characters’ internal struggles spill into their interpersonal relationships, “Lucky Star” captures an entangled mess of love and lies amid the bone-chilling cold of Alberta winter.

We brought together Gillian McKercher and three of her cast on the occasion of the Santa Barbara International Film Festival (Sbiff) over Zoom. Together, we talked about moving beyond stereotypes, the infamous Canadian cold, and Alberta Asians.

Tom Hanks, Tom Cruise & Will Smith Were Once Locked In A Box Office Showdown—Here’s Who Ultimately Won!
Image
Tom Hanks, Tom Cruise, and Will Smith blockbuster race(Photo Credit –Instagram/Facebook)

There was a time when three of Hollywood’s biggest titans were locked in a quiet, high-stakes race – not for awards, not for roles, but for pure box office bragging rights. Tom Hanks, Tom Cruise, and Will Smith once battled it out for a record that said one thing loud and clear: unstoppable hitmaker.

Back in the 1990s and early 2000s, all three stars were at the top of their game. Tom Hanks had gone from Splash to Big to back-to-back Oscar wins for Philadelphia and Forrest Gump. Cruise was riding high with Top Gun, Rain Man, and the launch of Mission: Impossible. Meanwhile, Smith jumped from The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air to alien-punching box office gold in Independence Day and Men in Black. Each of them was printing hits like clockwork.

That’s when the box...

Which Movie Led To Jaden Smith Seeking Legal Emancipation From Will Smith?(Photo Credit – Instagram)

Will Smith built a career out of blockbuster wins. But in a raw confession from his 2021 memoir Will, he admitted to creating one of his biggest personal regrets. The movie? After Earth. The fallout? It nearly wrecked his bond with his son, Jaden Smith.

At just 15, Jaden found himself at the center of a Hollywood flop that didn’t just bomb but hit him where it hurt. Directed by M. Night Shyamalan and starring both Will and Jaden as a father-son duo surviving a post-apocalyptic world, After Earth opened to brutal reviews and a brutal box office. It made only $27 million in its debut weekend against a $130 million budget.

Will Smith took the heat in stride. Jaden Smith didn’t. “After Earth was an abysmal box office and critical failure,” Will wrote (via People). “And...

Is Chris Rock Mad At Will Smith’s Comeback Music After Oscars Slap? ( Photo Credit – Wikimedia )

Chris Rock is reportedly livid, watching from the sidelines as Will Smith turns the infamous Oscars slap into a comeback campaign masked as redemption. When Will Smith’s Bizarre Scene From This Flop Movie Made The Director Regret A Key Decision: “I Never Wanted To See…”

What Did The Director Of Wild Wild West Say About This Bizzare Scene Featuring Will Smith?(Photo Credit –Instagram)

Before Wild Wild West flopped its way into pop culture infamy, Will Smith was riding a red-hot streak. But one scene in that 1999 disaster left even the director shaking his head. Barry Sonnenfeld, who had just directed Smith in the blockbuster Men in Black, later admitted the moment “made no sense” and might’ve dragged the whole film down with it.

It wasn’t supposed to go that way. In the mid-’90s, Smith had been leveling up fast. He scored back-to-back hits from The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air to Bad Boys and Independence Day. Then came Men in Black in 1997. It dropped on July 4th weekend and cemented Smith as the summer box office king. So when Sonnenfeld pitched Wild Wild West, another summer spectacle with gadgets, comedy, and action,...

Image
Will Smith’s Shark tale generates buzz on streaming platforms (Photo Credit – Hotstar)

Will Smith might’ve taken a hit to his golden boy image after that unforgettable moment at the 2022 Oscars, but if streaming charts and viral dance trends are anything to go by, the man isn’t fading quietly. In fact, he seems to be inching toward something of a renaissance.

Smith, before the red carpets and blockbuster franchises, was all about beats and rhymes as one half of a hip-hop duo. His charisma carried over seamlessly when he stepped into sitcom royalty with The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, and by the time Men in Black dropped in 1997, he wasn’t just acting, he was dominating.

Back from the Deep: Shark Tale Resurfaces

While the 56-year-old has become synonymous with high-octane action thanks to series like Bad Boys, Smith’s career is peppered with heartfelt one-offs too. King Richard stands tall among those,...

Will Smith's 5 Best Sci-Fi Movies Ranked
Image
Will Smith is a bonafide movie star, and you don't get to become a movie star if you're not multi-faceted. Smith's career is one that clearly demonstrates his versatility and then some; he's got a physicality and swagger that lends itself easily to an action film lead, as seen in the "Bad Boys" franchise as well as movies like "Suicide Squad" and "Bright." He has the emotional depth and soulfulness to take on a variety of dramatic roles, as in "King Richard," "The Pursuit of Happyness," "Ali," and "Six Degrees of Separation." He also has a natural comic timing — honed during his years starring on the wildly successful sitcom "The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air" — which crops up in many of his performances, but has also led to winning leading roles in the rom-com "Hitch" and Disney live-action remake "Aladdin."

Despite his considerable range and his continued appeal, Smith has one...

It’s Crazier Than Will Smith Rejecting Men in Black Offer- Another Oscar Winner Turned Down an Offer 3 Times Before Steven Spielberg Intervened
Image
Being an actor is not just about making sure your character comes across as convincing and authentic as possible, it is also about choosing the right role. Moreover, an actor must know the roles that they will fit into instead of trying to push boundaries. While pushing boundaries is a good thing, not every time leads to success and an actor must know when and when not to take the leap of faith.

Steven Spielberg | Credit: ABC News

However, sometimes this fear holds actors back from taking roles that eventually go on to become one of their most famous ones. This is what happened with Will Smith when he was first contacted for Men in Black. However, the Oscar-winner wasn’t alone in thinking so, for there is another actor who had to be convinced by Steven Spielberg to take the chance.

What Happened To The Cast Of The Fresh Prince Of Bel-Air?
Image
The 1990s were ripe with terrific sitcoms, namely "Seinfeld," "Frasier," "Friends," "Home Improvement," and "Everyone Loves Raymond." However, tucked between these shows was "The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air," a snappy, energetic, incredibly entertaining family comedy that launched star Will Smith to superstardom, was nominated for and won a slew of awards, spawned a modern-day spinoff series, and crafted a beloved theme song that Quincy Jones believes cemented hip-hop into pop culture. It also packed quite the emotional punch and it wasn't afraid to hit the dramatic beats.

"Fresh Prince" ran for six solid seasons, garnering positive reviews for its cast and strong viewership ratings. Nearly everyone involved used their time on the show to achieve fame and fortune on other projects, whether television, movies, or video games. While most of the main cast never rose to the same success they enjoyed on "Fresh Prince," they remained relevant in the decades following its conclusion in 1996. So,...

Will Smith Is Wrong About His Worst Movie: Why After Earth, That Ruined Jaden Smith’s Career, Is Worse Than Wild Wild West
Image
Will Smith is one of the most exceptional actors in Hollywood. Period. Whether it’s making us cry in The Pursuit of Happyness or having us doubled over with laughter in Bad Boys, the man knows exactly how to pull off any character and script thrown his way. Of course, there’s always going to be exceptions and the 2013 film with his son is one of them.

Will Smith in a still from Wild Wild West (1999) | Credits: Warner Bros.

In 2013, Will Smith and Jaden Smith starred in the post-apocalyptical film, After Earth where ‘Danger is Real’ and ‘Fear is a Choice.’ However, the only “danger” we saw was the brutal reviews from critics that put Jaden Smith’s career on the line. So, while Will Smith can say that Wild Wild West may be a thorn in his side, it is really After Earth that might be his worst yet.

King Richard Cast & Real Life Character Comparison Guide
Image
While Will Smith leads the King Richard cast in his Oscar-winning role, there is a terrific ensemble working together to bring this true sports story to the big screen. Venus and Serena Williams’ names are iconic in the world of sports, but King Richard offers a slight twist in that it’s actually more about their father, Richard Williams, a tennis coach who tries to put his daughters’ talents on the world stage. While he is a complex and intriguing character, King Richard benefits from the entire cast.

Directed by Reinaldo Marcus Green from a screenplay by Zach Baylin, King Richard goes behind the scenes of Venus and Serena’s life under the guidance of their father. King Richard has a sprawling cast of veteran actors and younger actors who get to flex their talents in front of a wider audience. The film is based on real-life people, and here...

Image
Margot Robbie and Will Smith's crime movie, which made over $158 million at the box office, becomes a global Netflix hit nine years later. Two of the biggest stars of their time, Smith rose to fame playing a fictionalized version of himself in the sitcom The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air and transitioned to blockbuster movies during the 1990s, starring in Bad Boys, Men in Black, Independence Day, and more. He started garnering critical acclaim during the 2000s, earning Oscar nominations for Ali and The Pursuit of Happyness, though he didn't win the award until King Richard in 2022.

Similarly, Robbie started her career on television with Neighbours and Pan Am, but broke through with a standout role in Martin Scorsese's The Wolf of Wall Street and collaborated with more acclaimed directors on Quentin Tarantino's Once Upon a Time in Hollywood and Greta Gerwig's Barbie. Dwayne Johnson Desperately Tried to Model His Hollywood Career After 2 Oscar-winning Icons Whose Glory He’s Yet to Touch
Image
The fundamental principle behind Dwayne Johnson’s rise as one of the biggest WWE wrestlers and movie stars in the world can be summed up in 2 words: “Audience first.” Inside the ring, he listened to his audience, gave them the spectacle they deserved, and elevated the sport to one of the most celebrated in the world. In Hollywood, he did the same.

Dwayne Johnson in Red Notice [Credit: Netflix]

The 6 ft. 4 in. tall Samoan action figure carved a niche for himself in the movie industry by tapping into a relatively unexplored field of the explosive action genre. The genre that The Rock likes to play with can’t be placed in a similar sandbox as the one where Hans Gruber or Agent Smith like to operate.

Dwayne Johnson’s visions are bigger, more explosive, and far more festive than the action flicks that birthed Bruce Willis and Will Smith.

Jaden Smith’s rise to fame came fast. At just 8, he starred alongside Will in The Pursuit of Happyness, kicking off his Hollywood career. By 2008, he was solidifying his star power in The Day the Earth Stood Still, and by 2010, he was front and center in The Karate Kid with Jackie Chan. His role in After Earth in 2013 was another highlight, but then, Jaden pulled back—he was ready to shift focus to music.

By 2014, after The Good Lord Bird, Jaden hit pause on acting to dive into his true passion: music. He dropped his debut mixtape, The Cool Tape, following his early collaboration with Justin Bieber on Never Say Never. It wasn’t just a career move—it was Jaden finding his voice and stepping out of his parents’ shadow to make his mark as a musician.

Jaden Smith targeted by another death hoax (Photo Credit – Instagram)

Jaden Smith, Will Smith’s son, got hit with yet another death hoax on Sunday night. But don’t worry, before it could get out of hand, Jaden’s reps dropped a quick truth bomb: “He’s still alive and well; stop believing what you see on the Internet.”

This wasn’t Jaden’s first being dragged into such wild rumors. Just last month, similar reports claimed he’d died by suicide. The fake news spread fast on Facebook, YouTube, and shady websites, often paired with photos like Will Smith crying next to a candle, tagged with “Rip.” One Facebook post even asked, “Is it true that Jaden Smith is dead?” leaving fans freaked out.

Image
Jaden Smith doesn’t mind dropping his last name? (Photo Credit – Instagram)

Jaden Smith and Will Smith are probably Hollywood’s most excellent father-son duos. Although the two had their fair share of conflicts, their relationship has always felt vibrant. Jaden’s debut on-screen with Will in The Pursuit of Happyness showcased their special bond. Over the years, the two have worked on other creative projects, shared laughs, and sometimes even fashion statements.

While Will is known for being a supportive dad, Jaden isn’t afraid to do his own thing. As Jaden craves his own space in music and film, his presence in the industry is no less impressive. Despite growing up as Will’s son, he has always been under the spotlight, but there was a time when he took steps to make his own identity.

Why Did Jaden Smith Remove His Last Name?

HBO Orders Limited Series ‘Dtf St. Louis’ Starring Jason Bateman, David Harbour
Image
HBO has greenlit the limited series “Dtf St. Louis” with Jason Bateman and David Harbour set for two of the lead roles, Variety has learned.

HBO has given the series a seven-episode order. The show was originally announced as being in development back in 2022 with Harbour and Pedro Pascal attached to star and executive produce. The project was originally inspired by the James Lasdun New Yorker article “My Dentist’s Murder Trial: Adultery, False Identities, and a Lethal Sedation.”

However, according to an individual with knowledge of the project, the creative direction of the series evolved over time and is now based on a wholly original idea with no connection to the original article. In addition, Pascal is no longer attached in any capacity. He remains in business with HBO, though, with the second season of “The Last of Us” set to debut in 2025.
