Artists Equity, the studio founded by Ben Affleck and Matt Damon, has expanded its leadership team with the addition of producer and executive Amy Baer to serve as president of film and television.

Baer will report to Affleck and Dillon West, Artists Equity’s co-founder, CEO and Chief Operating Officer. She joins Artists Equity after departing from Gidden Media, which she founded in 2012, as president for over 13 years.

Baer’s experience includes leading multiple Oscar-nominated films and production entities and completing 17 years at Sony Pictures, in which Artists Equity has recently launched a three-year partnership that will have Sony finance and handle global theatrical distribution for films developed and produced by Artists Equity.

Add Linda Cardellini to HBO’s latest throuple. The “Bloodline” and “Dead to Me” star has been cast in “Dtf St. Louis,” HBO’s upcoming comedy-drama starring Jason Bateman and David Harbour,

The upcoming seven-episode limited series follows “a love triangle between three adults experiencing middle-age malaise that leads to one of them ending up dead,” a press release for the series reads. The dark comedy comes from Steven Conrad, who also serves as its writer and director. Conrad is known for his work on “The Pursuit of Happyness,” “The Secret Life of Walter Mitty” and Prime Video’s “Patriot.” “Dtf St. Louis” is currently in pre-production.

In addition to Conrad, the series will be executive produced by Bateman and Harbour as well as Todd Black, Jason Blumenthal and Steve Tisch for Escape Artists; Michael Costigan for Bateman’s Aggregate Films; Kristina Wenson for Bravo Axolotl; Molly Allen; and Bruce Terris.

Will Smith is one of the most exceptional actors in Hollywood. Period. Whether it’s making us cry in The Pursuit of Happyness or having us doubled over with laughter in Bad Boys, the man knows exactly how to pull off any character and script thrown his way. Of course, there’s always going to be exceptions and the 2013 film with his son is one of them.

HBO has greenlit the limited series “Dtf St. Louis” with Jason Bateman and David Harbour set for two of the lead roles, Variety has learned.

HBO has given the series a seven-episode order. The show was originally announced as being in development back in 2022 with Harbour and Pedro Pascal attached to star and executive produce. The project was originally inspired by the James Lasdun New Yorker article “My Dentist’s Murder Trial: Adultery, False Identities, and a Lethal Sedation.”

However, according to an individual with knowledge of the project, the creative direction of the series evolved over time and is now based on a wholly original idea with no connection to the original article. In addition, Pascal is no longer attached in any capacity. He remains in business with HBO, though, with the second season of “The Last of Us” set to debut in 2025.

As one of Hollywoods most bankable stars, its no surprise that Will Smith has returned for several sequels to some of his most popular films. While classics like I Am Legend and I, Robot are still crying out for follow-up films from Smith, other series like Bad Boys and Men in Black have been turned into their own popular franchises.
