Keeps you glued all along. Heroine has some fantastic appeal. I guess I am gonna find her wallpapers for my PC. Caught it on DD1, half an hour into the movie. BUT it was still a fantastic watch. Made my weekend, as I was bored sitting at home. And really wanted to see some nice movie. Fantastic ending - i was kinda shocked that movie has ended! I don't really want to reveal too much here, its a simple story. Filmed very well, some really nice cinematography, but then sea by itself has some splendor! I don't know tamil at all, but I really enjoyed a song which in subtitles was - "If you fall in love, send word! I will come if I'm alive." Last time I watched Shwaas on DD1. I guess am gonna be regular for these award winning features for DD1 Sunday late night.

Its a great adoption of Fedor Dostoevsky's Classic White nights.The story opens in outdoor sea background.I am not sure how many times i watched this movie..a fantastic movie from Tamil language.Director S.P.jananathan played well with the protagonist.This is a new feel fresh movie i have seen when i tired of watching typical masala clichéd movies.Hats off.I think Tamil cinema will get more directors like this with new experiments and innovative story lines.i Strongly believing that Director Did a justification for white nights.

I suggest you to see this movie. (IYARKAI)

apart from Critical accolades,this film opened with low response even though it has all the mainstream cinema elements. I found the reason for this below average response in Box office :

The love affair between radhika / arun was not handled well..Its a kind of amateur love.If the director shaped that part..sure it will be a golden jubilee film.

Guys,I saw this movie on the TV and found to be an unusual Tamil movie.It had Good story line and all the characters have played their part well.I feel we don't get such movies with solid story line in most Tamil movies.There is a Situation song Kadhal Vandhal which I thought had master Picturisation.But I found that this movie didn't do well at box office.Its a pity.Its a movie that can run more than 100 days then other commercial movies.The climax I thought was not the usual that one would expect to happen.However,it does matches with story well.An ideal climax.Overall I would rate this movie great and I would put it in the list of my Favorite films.

Re-watching this masterpiece after many years feels Nostalgic and heartbreaking at the same time. This is the journey of a ship mechanic Maruthu who fells in love with a young girl Nancy who runs a hotel in sea-shore. Path changes when she fells in love with the Ship Captain. The longing-ness for love,pain and sacrifice expressed through the 'Maruthu' character makes heart heavy performed by the Phenomenal actor 'Shyam'. The immature,stubborn and the Confusion expressed through Nancy 'Radhika' is realistic and strong. It's that well-written including the other memorable characters like Captain played by 'Arun Vijay',Church father played by 'Pasupathi and Maruthu's friend played by 'Karunas'. This film is definitely ahead of its time like many won't risk this much effort in production(more scenes happening in ships)for a love-tale in the early 2000's,late legendary director S. P. Jananathan did that with ease. The dialogues and songs especially 'kadhal vanthal solli anupu' is relatable even now. This is One Classic film that I'll never forget and will always be my favourite musical romantic-drama from tamil industry.

I love this movie, especially Sham and Radhika, the story is absolutely awesome thanks to the entire team of 'IYARKAI'. The most lovely of this movie is the climax, Sham and Radhika are absolutely stunning in this movie and they've done their part without any hesitation, The climax is very very lovely. Tippu's humming at the climax of the movie adds a crown to the movie, I'm looking forward to see more of these type of movie from this team once again. Thank you IYARKAI once again and hats off to all who worked for this. The light house in Andaman is also one of the most beautiful attraction in this movie, seema biswas has done her part and pasupathy wears a different role in this movie. Music director has given a heartthrob songs and background music to his movie.
