Bounty Hunters from what most people in reviews here claim they are low lives and are white trailer park trash. Not all bounty Hunters are like that. The best example was Ralph"Papa" Thorson whose life inspired the book and the Movie the Hunter which was Steve Mcqueen's last movie. Thorson was a honorable man. He did his job tracking down Bail jumpers people who were either guilty of a crime or staring at three strikes and a jail sentence. Papa brought them in every time Because usually a great deal of money was on the line or someone's house was on the line. Papa also took in some of the felons he caught and gave them jobs or a roof over their head. After they came out of jail. After Papa Died his wife Dottie took over the business and ran it the way Papa did.Papa alway believed in redemption and second chances.
Duane "Dog " Chapman and his wife Beth are right from the same mold that Papa was made from. Dog and Beth have made mistakes which included jail time for Dog it was time in a Texas jail for murder. However when he came out a few people believed in him and helped him turn his life around. So he became a Bounty Hunter and attempts to do the same thing. He offers redemption and hope. A lot of people call Dog and his family names. But what about the people who run and let other people lose homes cars or great sums of money. Dog and his family have a lot riding on this usually anywhere from 10 thousand dollars to sometimes 50 thousand dollars. The bail jumper if not caught and brought to jail or court makes them liable to lose that money. Those people are the true trash. Dog Chapman and his family at least try to offer them Hope and redemption. Sometimes the answer isn't always there until someone points it out. The show is maybe the best thing reality TV has to offer. At best it's inspiring. At worst it's entertaining.

A&E used to be the network for programming superiority just as CNN is the undisputed network for excellence in providing news.
Alas, times have changed and A&E has gone the way of other tasteless networks like Fox. By broadcasting Dog the Bounty Hunter, it is really scraping the bottom of the barrel.
The show is about a grandstanding family of bounty hunters in Hawaii. They can't do anything with even a modicum of dignity: they make a production, no pun intended, out of every foray they engage in to keep the world safe from nasty, unwashed bail bond jumpers, many of whom are family friends.
There's no way on earth that they would be able to set up shop on the continental USA. Law enforcement authorities simply would not condone their posturing and proselytizing. Even now I wonder if Dog shouldn't be wearing a clerical collar and claiming to heal the sick, so deeply has he become entrenched in his viewers' psyches.
I really miss the A&E that once was before it started pandering to wrestling fanatics who also think that Dog the Bounty Hunter is reality. A more gullible TV audience does not exist.
Watch out! Here come de dog!
That's my opinion and it has just as much validity as yours.

This show is great. Not only entertaining but teaching life lessons, it's really a good show. Whomever said it was garbage is crazy and needs to stop hating a awesome show. It's interesting and real. Leland, dog's son, is hot too. The Chapman family is doing a service to the community and helping people get their lives back on the right track. Dog and his crew are great and should be applauded. It doesn't matter what Dog and his crew look like, they are helping people and that's what matters. I strongly urge you to check this show out, it's really good. It's on A&E ON Tuesday nights at 9pm in my area (east coast). I highly recommend it.Trust me, you won't regret it at all.By the way this site is great for finding movies and actors.
It's too bad that IMDb doesn't provide a whole lot of information because this show is really interesting (at least, I think it is). Basically, it's about a family of bail-bondsmen (and women) led by gruff, blue-collar (and intimidating) patriarch "Dog" Chapman. This is a literal family, mind you, where his son, brother, nephew and wife work alongside him to maintain his business. This is a man who comes from a very rough background to become a figure of redemption and responsibility for the state of Hawaii. The most interesting aspect, I believe, is watching the character study of someone who is very street-smart, unlike someone such as myself who comes from a very safe, middle-class upbringing and college eduction.
I have watched this show and I applaud the actions of Dog and his team.I think it is great that Duane "Dog" Chapman involves his family in his business.Too many men are too busy trying to make a name for themselves and they leave their families on the sidelines forgetting that if it was not for their families support they would not be in the position that they are in.Dog does not forget that he respects and appreciates his family. The fact that he stepped up to the plate when it came to his son Leland and taught Leland the ropes really speaks volumes about what kind of a stand up person he really is.Not only that but Leland is one hot looking guy so what is not to love about the show.
Lo sapevi?
- QuizAlthough Duane 'Dog' Chapman refers to Tim Chapman as his "brother", they are not at all related. They are longtime friends and they coincidentally have the same last name.
- BlooperThe bails bond man Nick Lindblad is not listed among the cast even though he appears in several episodes. On Beth's phone his father's name is misspelled as James Lindbland.
