Jonathan Lipnicki said in a recent interview with People magazine that he is trying to turn his acting career around after it more or less sputtered following his iconic run as a child actor in the late 1990s and early 2000s. With roles in “Jerry Maguire” (1996), the “Stuart Little” movies (1999-2002), “The Little Vampire” (2000) and “Like Mike” (2002), Lipnicki was one of Hollywood’s most recognizable young performers. He cut back on acting to attend high school and says that he’s since struggled to match the professional highs of his youth.

Sometime between The Truman Show and Jury Duty, the Spike cable network premiered The Joe Schmo Show. It was 2003, and reality TV was in a boom time where no premise was too outlandish. You could feed contestants testicles or chain them together or drop them in a foreign location to try to find their way back to the U.S., and no one would have you arrested. Schmo did something more daring than any other show in its class: It showed the viewer it was completely fake.

Back in 2003, in the heyday of reality television, Spike TV gave the world The Joe Schmo Show. It was a parody of the genre through the lens of one unsuspecting individual who believed he was on a real series called “The Lap of Luxury,” sort of like The Truman Show. Aside from Matt Kennedy Gould, the rest of the cast was in on the hoax. The other individuals, all trained improv actors, played into well-known reality TV archetypes, including Dr. Pat the Quack. One actress was exceptional and quite neurotic because she was nervous about blowing up the plan. Little did we know then that this incredible improv actress was future comedy star and Saturday Night Live legend Kristen Wiig.

The Joe Schmo Show reboot has a premiere date. The reboot of the prank series will arrive in January on TBS with ten new episodes. Cat Deeley (So You Think You Can Dance) will serve as the new host.

Created by Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese, The Joe Schmo Show debuted in 2003 on Spike TV (since rebranded to Paramount Network) and ran for three seasons and 29 episodes before ending in 2013.

Next month is now officially Joe-nuary. TBS has set a Tuesday, Jan. 21 (9/8c) premiere date for its reboot of The Joe Schmo Show, TVLine has learned.

Just like the original series, which aired for three seasons on Spike (R.I.P.!) between 2003 and 2013, the new Joe Schmo Show is a reality TV experiment in which one player believes that he’s competing to win a $100,000 grand prize — completely unaware that his competitors are all “highly skilled improv comedians,” according to TBS. This time around, the clueless player is a Baltimore-based electrician named Ben.

During The Game Awards on Thursday, series star Anthony Mackie announced that Twisted Metal is getting renewed for Season 2 at Peacock. The streaming platform has also unveiled an announcement teaser touting the news, revealing a giddy Sweet Tooth stoked about his return. A new clip from the upcoming DC animated movie, Merry Little Batman, featuring Mr. Freeze, has been released.

Fandom shared the 59-second clip on X, which shows the Dark Knight being lured out deep into the winter wilderness by Mr. Freeze, voiced by Dolph Adomian, who seems to be doing an impression of Arnold Schwarzenegger. Jury Duty became a surprise hit for Amazon Prime, garnering dedicated viewers and surpassing the popularity of other shows. The success of Jury Duty can be compared to that of The Joe Schmo Show, which also relied on a fake reality show concept. Actor and producer Jonathan Lipnicki has joined production, post-production and distribution company Buffalo 8 as an executive producer.

Earlier this spring, TBS announced that it had ordered a new season of The Joe Schmo Show, the format in which a single ordinary person found themselves in the middle of what they thought was an unscripted series, only to eventually discover that everybody around them was actually a comedian attempting to bamboozle that one Joe Schmo.

On one hand, it was a somewhat unlikely resurrection for the quirky reality-comedy hybrid, which originally debuted on Spike TV — remember Spike TV? — back in 2003, aired a second season in 2004, went into hibernation until a third season in 2013, and then returned to sleep for another decade.

On the other hand, bringing back The Joe Schmo Show became an oddly obvious choice after a year in which the lines between scripted comedy and reality became more blurry than ever before, or at least more blurry than any point since that mid-’00s moment when...

TBS has announced a revival for The Joe Schmo Show, bringing back the same concept with an all new cast of actors... along with a new Schmo. One key change that happens this time around is that Ralph Garman won't be featured in the revival. In all three of the show's prior iterations, Garman had played the host, portraying a separate character for each season. A teaser for the revival reveals that Cat Deeley is the new host and there was no trace of Garman anywhere to be seen.

Conan O'Brien Must Go is described as a new international travel series.

In the new version, an unsuspecting guy named Ben thinks he’s a contestant on a new reality series called The Goat, while every other contestant is actually an improv comedian pretending to be a reality TV contestant. Written and executive e produced by Hornsby and Etheridge, Siblings centers on two very different siblings who decide to live together and raise their kids after one of them gets divorced.

Hornsby has been on It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia since the second season, rising to executive producer. As an actor, Hornsby’s credits include Good Girls, The Goldbergs and Baskets in addition to his recurring role on Sunny. This marks Hornsby return to CBS where he created, executive produced and starred in the comedy series How To Be a Gentleman.

Plot: A street urchin (Weinger) falls for a beautiful princess (Larkin). He then uses a genie’s (Williams) magic power to make himself a prince in order to marry her.

Who’S It For? Everyone, of course. Plus, this is one of Williams’ signature roles, so the fact that you get a little extra from the extras about his wonderful performance, makes this Diamond Edition a must buy.

One of my favorite Disney animated movies is Aladdin, and it's lack of blu-ray edition is the source of great sorrow, leaving a blank spot on my shelf. Thankfully, Disney is finally fixing this problem, and bringing the film to blu-ray for the first time with a Diamond Edition on October 13, 2015:

In celebration of the upcoming Aladdin: Diamond Edition release, Scott Weinger, the voice of Aladdin, hosted a special screening of the film at the Walt Disney Studios lot and Wamg was there for Sunday’s fun events.

There was a host of fun activities for kids – a coloring table, ring toss, belly dancing lessons and a nice pre-movie breakfast. Youngsters in attendance also left with gifts such as Disney action figures, the iconic fairy wings, and a special Golden Books edition of Aladdin.

For many of the kids in the audience, this was their first time seeing Aladdin, including star Scott Weinger’s own son and his delighted friends, further confirming that this Disney classic holds up through generations.

truTV, which recently rebranded itself to focus more on comedy and less on fakery, has announced that it's ordered a new prank show executive produced by David Spade. This isn't another hidden camera series, however. Instead, "Fameless" will make its cameras very visible. It's a series that the network describes as "half sketch show/half prank show," one that "will take a lighthearted look at how far people will go to be famous." What that means is this: a group of actors and improvisers will create a fake show, like an SNL sketch, but then play it out with a real person as one of the contestants. David Spade, who's also going to be in the return of "Joe Dirt" this summer, will appear at least once in the series, which is produced by Electus. Joe: Retaliation, "The Joe Schmo Show"), and producer Gavin Polone ("Gilmore Girls," "Curb Your Enthusiasm"). Eli Craig (Tucker and Dale vs. Evil) is directing the pilot. The part of Tallahassee will be played by Kirk Ward (The Island), Maiara Walsh ("Desperate Housewives," "Switched at Birth") is cast as Wichita, Tyler Ross (Milkshake) will play Columbus, and Izabela Vidovic has the role of Little Rock. Although Zombieland the webseries may live on in a different venue, it won't be Amazon as originally planned...

"Zombieland" co-writer/executive producer Rhett Reese took to Twitter to vent a bit upon hearing the news that Amazon will not be moving forward with the series. While reviews were definitely mixed, he seemed to place the blame on fans of the film who refused to embrace the concept.

Amazon.com released a Zombieland pilot episode over their instant video service last month, but it has been revealed that they will not move forward with an order of additional episodes. The pilot was released along with a number of original pilots in April, but reaction to the episode was less than positive from many of those who had seen it.

While this is likely the end for Zombieland: The Series, it is possible that another company could pick up the show. If we hear anything else about the project moving forward, we’ll be sure to let readers know. If you’d like a preview of the pilot, we’ve included the official trailer below. AmazonStudios is taking a more unusual approach by letting viewers decide what they want to keep watching. The company has kicked off its screening process this weekend by unveiling its inaugural slate of 14 pilots — eight comedies and six kids shows, all made available for free on AmazonInstant Video, LoveFilm UK and LoveFilm Germany. Viewers are being invited to watch the pilots and Amazon is welcoming feedback from its audience. According to Deadline, the company will evaluate feedback from an online panel recruited on Amazon preview as well as traditional offline focus groups to decide if they greenlight a series or not. The highest-profile series is Zombieland, but the two that look most interesting are Alpha House, starring John Goodman with cameos by Bill Murray and Stephen Colbert; and Onion News Empire. Amazon has not yet decided how many of the shows will make the cut, nor when they will premiere.
