The original show was so successful that NBC wanted to replicate its success with a spin-off. Joey, as a fan favourite and comic relief, was the only character in the group who didn't have a proper conclusion to his story. The spin-off continues Joey Tribbiani's journey as he tries to make it in Hollywood.
