Dad's Boy

It's a shame that this is about the only surviving example of the series that Buddy Messinger did for the Stern brother. It is a fairly bright and amusing movie as Buddy and his rival fight over the charms of Martha Sleeper, still not a woman, bu clearly about to grow into the sort that men will get into fistfights over -- if you've seen her five years later playing Max Davidson's daughter for Hal Roach, you'll agree it's true.

The film is set at an amusement park and we watch Buddy playing a Tom-Sawyer sort of character, out-thinking his rival. This looks like the people involved actually remembered being children themselves -- and cleaned it up for the audience.
