Riepilogo
Reviewers say 'The Cat in the Hat' has mixed to negative reviews. Mike Myers' Cat is criticized as unfunny and unsettling. Crude humor and inappropriate content for children are common complaints. The film deviates significantly from the original Dr. Seuss book. Visual style and set design receive some praise, though often overshadowed by negatives. Unnecessary characters and subplots are frequently faulted. A few reviewers appreciate the film's humor and absurdity.
Recensioni in evidenza
Bombastic, high fructose attempt to realize on set what was never meant to be more than a bedtime story illustration.
Pretty far removed from the tone of the original book, there is so much padding that the whole thing becomes rather risible. it's all fun in a grotesque way but you have to be in the mood to laugh at the lame CGI gorged jokes as well as with them.
Mike Myers makes a pretty vivid Cat who can be a little annoying and more than a little terrifying.
It's stupid, but sometimes stupid things are bizarrely distracting.

The Cat in the Hat is a comical cinematic masterpiece. Bo Welch took a simple book and made it into its own bright lively world. The unique costumes, lighting, and filter used in this film, submerges you into the story. Mike Meyers one liners and jokes are forever quotable, and bring a smile to the faces of many. The cinematography of this film is astonishing for a children's movie. The low angle shots used to announce the dominance and relationship between characters is unexpected in a film such as this, yet it works so well. Every time viewed, I find something new to smile and laugh at. This is my favorite film of all time, 10/10.
After years and years of hearing how bad this movie was, I finally wartched it last night. I now understand why the crass humor offended the widow of Dr. Suess, and I know why most hated it. But, I don't. The crass humor and many "wtf is happening" moments made this a very fun watch.
The Bad: Like I said, this movie is not technically very good. The kids acting is not the best, and the story is slightly all over the place. Also, thing 1 and thing 2 are just downright creepy. I maybe laughed at 1 or 2 of their jokes, but they mainly just creeped me out.
The Good: I really liked this type of humor. It was so chaotic and crass that I couldn't help but laugh a lot. Most the time the movie knows its being stupid and immature, which only helps its cause. Mike Meyers just plays himself but as a giant cat, and its so funny to me. I understand this is not a good at all adaptation of the book, but I don't care. It was funny, and I enjoyed my time.
Conclusion: It was ruined when she bought it honey. Watch this intoxicated.

Jim Carrey was The Grinch, and know Mike Myers is The Cat In The Hat. A good kids story taken from the pages of Dr.Seuss. A magical feline(well played by Mike Myers) goes in the home of two siblings named Conrad(Spencer Breslin from last years The Santa Clause 2) and Sally(Dakota Fanning from this years Uptown Girls) and tries to teach them on how to have a fun time, while there mother(Kelly Preston) is at work. But what happens when there scumbag neighbor(perfectly well played by Alec Baldwin) begins to suspect what there up to, and trying to woo there mother at the same time. I liked this movie, it is not overacted like The Grinch was. Mike Myers plays the part in his own way, and his own comic style. And it also had cool special effects. I don't care what the other critics say, I liked this movie.
HOLDS UP TO THE QUALITY OF THE BOOKS. ITS REALLY GOOD I RECCOMEND TO ADULTS BECAUSE THIS IS A VERY ADULT MOVIE.

- QuizAccording to Mike Myers, less than a month before the film was released, the producers made plans for a sequel based on the book's sequel, The Cat in the Hat Comes Back. However, Audrey Geisel, Dr. Seuss's widow, was so appalled by this movie that she decided to reject any future live-action adaptations of her late husband's work. The sequel was eventually canceled.
- BlooperWhen the lock is removed the dog's collar, Conrad is shown putting it into his left pocket. When locking the red box up again, the lock is being taken out of his right pocket.

Cat in the Hat: [English accent] I'll get you, and it'll look like a bloody accident.
- Curiosità sui creditiThe Universal Pictures, DreamWorks and Imagine Entertainment logos are animated in Dr. Seuss's artwork. Furthermore, the Universal world morphs into the star ball, the Cat is fishing in the moon of the DreamWorks logo, and the Fish can be seen darting into the water in the Imagine logo.
- Versioni alternativeIn the TV version, there are some scenes that represent alternate takes of scenes present in the theatrical/video version. This includes but is not limited to the couch scene, a portion of the Kupkake-inator scene and several omitted pop culture references.
