- Jimmy Scalzetti: For those of you who just fell of the broccoli boat, Chicago Place is the most exclusive shopping mall in the Chicago area. The Christmas Rush is their busiest and most profitable season. At the end of each business day, fifty-seven retailers deposit their cash receipts in the basement vault. Once a week, a CST armored car drives that money to the Northern Trust Bank. The last pickup before Christmas, and the biggest, is scheduled for the evening of December twenty-fourth. On Christmas Eve, there will be ten to twelve million dollars in unmarked, untraceable cash sitting in that basement vault.
- Jimmy Scalzetti: [referring to their child] He's gotta go back in the hospital.
- Jeanette Scalzetti: I thought he was in remission.
- Jimmy Scalzetti: He was, but the leukemia is back, and it's spreading. He needs a bone marrow transplant. It's gonna cost a quarter of a million dollars.
- Jeanette Scalzetti: Oh my god! Where are you gonna get that kind of money?
- Jimmy Scalzetti: Merry Christmas, Lieutenant.
- Lt. Cornelius Morgan: Uh, I think you mean "Happy Holidays," Jimmy. "Christmas" is no longer politically correct.
- Jimmy Scalzetti: I'll go P.C. when you do.
- [to Cat]
- Jimmy Scalzetti: Your daughter's very talented, Mrs. Morgan.
- Catherine 'Cat' Morgan: Oh, thank you, and so is your... son? Is it?
- Jimmy Scalzetti: Yes. Thank you.
- Lt. Cornelius Morgan: Cat, this is Jimmy Scalzetti, one of the best in his field.
- Catherine 'Cat' Morgan: Well, then you must be very good because my husband's pretty stingy with praise.
- Jimmy Scalzetti: Actually, I'm retired now.
- Lt. Cornelius Morgan: Well, that's good news for both of us.
- Rich Rajinsky: [walks over, chiming in] Once a thief, always a thief. Yeah, Jimmy Scal was good but not quite good enough. Morg and me dropped him down at Joliet for his last stretch. When was that, Jimmy? Ninety-six?
- Lt. Cornelius Morgan: That's throwback, Rich. The man says he's retired, he's retired.
- Rich Rajinsky: What, are you lost, Jimmy? The felon's jamboree is down at the armory.
- Jimmy Scalzetti: It was a pleasure to meet you, Mrs. Morgan.
- Catherine 'Cat' Morgan: And you.
- Jimmy Scalzetti: [looks at Rich] Meh.
- [walks off]
- Lt. Cornelius Morgan: Well, you're a class act, Rich.
- Jimmy Scalzetti: How's the house?
- Joyner: Roof fell in.
- Jimmy Scalzetti: How'd the wife take it?
- Joyner: She was on the roof.
- Petrovich: [shooting at Morgan] I do not really want to shoot you, officer! It is just that I ask Santa for a cart full of money!
- Lt. Cornelius Morgan: [guns drawn at each other] Merry Christmas.
- Petrovich: I am Kwanzaa man myself.
- Lt. Cornelius Morgan: Jimmy, you need to send your dogs back to obedience school.
- Jimmy Scalzetti: They turned their radios off.
- Lt. Cornelius Morgan: And one of 'em just blew himself up with his own grenade.
- Jimmy Scalzetti: Not the brightest bulb on the Christmas tree.
- Lt. Cornelius Morgan: It's not that I wanna shoot you, it's just that I also asked Santa for a cart full of money.
- Petrovich: Well, I think one of us will be very disappointed.
- Lt. Cornelius Morgan: [last lines, sitting with his family for Christmas dinner] Let's all bow our heads and say a prayer for Jimmy Scalzetti and Rich Brazinski and all those who won't be celebrating Christmas this year. Let us give thanks for our deliverance and for all of our many blessings. Amen.
