Indulge in the cheesy goodness...

Vampire High ran on YTV in Canada and Sky 1 in the UK from 2001 to 2002. It aired in the USA on The WB in 2002. The series ran for one season (26 half-hour episodes).

As if ordinary teenagers weren't bad enough, the Mansbridge Academy boarding school has both human and vampire teenagers. The series centers on a group of "young" vampires participating in an experiment arranged by the vampire elders, with the intention of civilizing the vampires. In this program, Professor Murdoch is to teach the vampires how to live among and act like humans.

The humans and vampires at Mansbridge Academy face typical (and not so typical) troubles such as friendships, enemies, crushes, intense blood cravings, and vampire-human romance, and trying not to kill your human classmates.

This series is on the most basic level – fun. Don't expect highly developed characters or story lines from Vampire High. There are no profound lessons to be learned from it.

Take it at face value and enjoy the cheesy goodness that is teenage Canadian television.

I love this show!

Okay, I'll admit it. I love this show. It can be pretty cheesy, but the acting is gradually getting better. Some of the storylines are fairly Buffyish, but I still enjoy it. There is always something new happening, except for the Drew and Sherry storyline, which is over...finally! I love Joris Jarsky (Marty) probably because he is good looking and from the same province and country I come from! Anyway, I recommend this show to anyone who enjoys vampires, excitement, and a little cheesiness.

One of the most stylish programmes I have seen...

Vampire High was and is one the the most stylish ant intense programmes that I have ever seen. Not only is it well written and well directed but the general tone and setting is perfect.

The way it delve's into the characters and finds out more an more about them is indeed an exciting prospect. Never before has a show to my knowledge looked so deep into a character to study them. The plot of the show is the characters themselves, they are the plot and their general mannerisms.

This show is so much more then a vampire TV show but a show that has a balance and the line between the characters and how they can cope with trying to be human.

Pretentious and... weird

The weird part being that I actually watch this.

Not by any means can I bring myself to say that this series has any depth, or offers excitement. It takes no risks plot-wise, and the characters seem to do what fits the story, rather than what fits with some sort of consistent personality.

The main story is that 5 "young" vampires have been sent to a boarding high school to become civilized and to learn to act human. Why I can't understand, since they act very human right from the start. They're considerably more humane than their living counter parts. The school seems to have one major staff member: the middle-aged, not very strong-looking headmaster, and yet not a single vampire ever does anything to even offend him. Even though they're five very fast and strong supposedly untamed bloodsuckers, when he shouts, they cringe. Even when they haven't fed for 24 hours or so, and become frenzied, bloodthirsty monsters, they go to their human, blood-filled headmaster to sit close to him and TALK IT OVER. Quite uncivilized and scary, huh?

It is virtually impossible to take this series seriously, but it works very well as a relaxing background noise. The characters don't go through any noticeable changes between ep. 1 and ep. 26, so don't worry about missing anything if you just let this run while doing something else.

Taking pretentiousness and unoriginality to new heights

Did you notice that the more popular vampires and other undead become, the more human they become? Instead of their traditional characteristics, they are suddenly virtually indistinguishable from living, breathing, eating, socially active humans, all in the name of entertaining the gullible, uncritical and inexperienced youth of our time. Feh.

This show is horrific indeed; horrifically pretentious and clichéd (the title alone...!) and just plain insufferably and offensively bad. It is practically unwatchable. The only reason I can stretch myself to rate it a 2 out of 10 rather than a 1, is because there are one or two pretty girls in it. Not that that's any kind of proper reason (at least not in this case).

Vampire High

Vampire High is what I consider a fantastic show there is so much potential in this show to make a mega show it is unbelievable that it got canceled at the time. Plenty of other shows have copied parts of its story but none of them can compare to this show. There is something in it for everyone a feast for viewers once they manage to capture 1 episode.I am so impressed with this that I have built a site dedicated to Vampire High under the auspicious eye of the creator himself Mark Shekter. He has also published his sequel to Vampire High on my site. So I would like to invite anyone who loves this show to visit the site read the ebook Vampire High - The Mansbridge Experiment and if you have any questions ask them on the Blog and get answers from the man himself Mark Shekter.

Bring Back Vampire High

I thought that it was one of the best vampire shows around when I first started watching it on YTV. And now that Space has picked it up, I actually bother to get up before noon every Sunday just to watch it. I really hope that, with new interest, someone might pick the series up again. Kinda like after the success of Hellsing in both the US and North America has given birth to the Hellsing OVA. It was so sad when the canceled it. But it was rather nice that they left it open just enough for it to be taken up again. Hopefully someone will pick it up. Hopefully someone will remember us fans. Or, at least, hopefully they will put it out on DVD. Please bring back Vampire High.

Vampire High (2001)

It's too bad there wasn't a season two, the show was getting interesting. There could have been a lot more adventures and drama as the characters continued to develop their personalities and carried on with their lives. The last episode leaves you wanting to see more of what happens next. The show could have went to many times and places like "Highlander-The Series",and a myriad of new characters could have been added. In my opinion the show ended too soon, just as it developed all the main characters and their personality traits.Television already had "Buffy The Vampire Slayer",which was probably hard to compete with in popularity at the time.History is written by the winners.

Brilliant

I personal love most programmes and movies but I just watch it on the horror channel and completely got into it. It's great how they are Vampires trying to be more human.

This is a must see for anyone who likes vampire programmes and movies. It's not in the league of Buffy and Angel but still a good program to watch. To bad it was cancelled after just 2 series but with cartoons like family guy coming back hopefully they reconsider and bring it back.

Fingers crossed.

Sean Day.

A Great show for vampire lovers

I used to watch this show often before it was canceled and was thrilled when it began to play again on YTV. Now I stay up at 1:45 AM until 2:25 AM JUST to watch that show. I think I'm losing some major sleep because of this show O_o. Anyways, the story lines impressed me and something new always happens. I've always admired vampires for some reason and although the show doesn't follow all of the rules of vampire-ism, it's still an incredible show. One thing I wonder is if there's more episodes beyond the 26th one (The Vampire's Patient). If there isn't I certainly wish there were more. I'm so disappointed because of that. Oh yeah, one more thing: Drew is drop-dead GORGEOUS!

Excellent Programme

Hi just watching this series on the horror channel and i am now completely addicted to it. It has an excellent storyline and the characters are fantastic i am hoping that there will be more of this fantastic series out soon and hopefully it will be released on DVD. excellent concept the story writers are superb how they came up with this idea is beyond me. when i first heard about it i had no interest but it is a superb series with excellent story lines and settings. if only Mansfield high existed in real life i would be there in a flash. I will definitely be at the front of the queue to buy this one. it's great to see what would happen if such a school existed

better than expected

This tv show (so far) has had about 25 episodes, and i'd have to say that i am impressed by the plot line. When i first saw this show i did not think that it would go far with the whole romeo and juliet thing, but it went beyond the whole Drew and Sheri love story. It is a very good for a Canadian tv show.

Just a quick comment.

Vampire High has recently started showing on Sky One and I have been watching it since the first episode, ok that may only be three so far ( correct at time of press 23/07/01 ) but I think it is a good program. It's not quite "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" but it's got potential.
