Taxi, un encuentro

This small movie is really very good, very lyrical. I highly recommend it if you can get your hands on a copy. Small time thief steals a cab at night in Buenos Aires. While playing at being a taxi driver he picks up a girl who passes out in the back seat. When he finds out that she has a gunshot wound, he can't take her to a hospital and face explanations, therefore he has to take her home, which he shares with his drunken father (who is in a wheelchair). From then on, a well handled, delicate small story evolves. It mostly concerns our reluctant good Samaritan, who turns up to be very quixotic in the end, the wounded girl and the reason for gunshots our hero heard minutes before he picked her up, and their blossoming relationship.

"Taxi, an encounter" marks debut of Gabriela David in the direction, and this is very favorable for the national cinematography by two things. First, she is a woman and the women are filming every day in Argentina at the same level of risk that the men, as much in production as in content. Secondly because David has talent. The film is not pretensiosa, remains in single a subject, the solitude, and the protagonist is a solitaire that handles a robbed taxi by the nights of Buenos Aires. The plot is not the most important subject, but trasfondo of urban desolation is it; and David portrays it wonderfully. You must not wait for a jewel, but it is not going to disappoint if you wait for a good film. In addition it counts on the solid performance of Diego Peretti, who consolidates like one of the most promissory actors than they exceed the 30 and they do not have gained fame. The rest of the extreme distribution to mediocre with good performances. The camera registers the night of Buenos Aires with an austere registry, without great conflicts but that the daily one of a "tachero", passing by humble districts, wild char them without passing by the ticket office of the psychologist, a roundtrip by the mind of " an unemployed " young person of the criminal heading that suffers daily, and that Gabriela David films it wonderfully. I liked the film and I recommend it for one Sunday to afternoon, when the sun falls and the spirit does not need nor a false comedy that raises the spirit to us nor of a melodrama that ruins to us just a short time the more but of rest that we have left. Taxi,an encounter is one of those unlucky films (an admirable film is never much too popular with crowds) which never get a chance to be seen by thousands of viewers. This anomaly should not be considered as a drawback as this particular film has enough material to sustain viewers' attention. The prime reason lies in Gabriela David's taut direction. As there is ample suspense in this film viewers are always bound to stay glued to their seats. For those who have not been to Buenos Aires there are spectacular scenes of Argentinian capital's nocturnal views. All this is shown through bravura performance by Diego Peretti. This dazzling performance can easily fetch him the title of "Argentinian Al Pacino". He plays the role of a Samaritan thief. His life experiences a complete upheaval once he comes in contact with an injured girl. Who says that two lonely people cannot experience pure love ? This film is a proof of the fact that such a love exists.
