Last year we looked at 10 Christmas movie greats (It’s A Wonderful Life, White Christmas, Die Hard), now let’s explore the flip-side.

The formula for a joyful Christmas movie is pretty simple – sentiment, comedy, Christmas cheer. So why are there so many Christmas turkeys? It’s our own fault, at this time of year we become less discerning about what we’ll pay to see, out of a desire to watch something Christmassy. So studios just pump out any old crap with ‘Christmas’ or ‘Santa’ in the title, knowing they’re guaranteed to make a quick buck. Last year’s Four Christmases, say, made a nice cash sum at the box office despite being universally panned.

So while there is an abundance of choice, here are the Top 10 Worst Christmas Movies.

Are you ready to laugh it up this weekend? Well get on down to the theater for your chance to watch a comedy of almost every genre. Check out Drew Barrymore’s directorial debut coming of age comedy/drama ‘Whip It.’ horror/comedy ‘Zombieland,’ The Coen Brothers black comedy ‘A Serious Man,’ Michael Moore’s comical documentary ‘Capitalism: A Love Story‘ or Ricky Gervais’ straight up comedy ‘The Invention of Lying.’

Labor Day weekend is coming up, and it's a holiday that marks the end of the summer movie season along with summer itself. All the kids are heading back to the classroom for another dreaded year of school and (for those in L.A. like myself) the weather starts to cool... hopefully. While fall usually isn't seen as a cinematic hotbed, with the blockbuster summer season over, there are still plenty of quality films to check out at the box office.
