The Office Party

It's really interesting how often this short-film is used as "filler" in between movies, since that's how I've always seen it !! It's kind of an odd piece, but when it's over, I found myself thinking, wow, that was really funny and entertaining ! In that short time, it accomplished a lot and was a full fleshed-out story. I also loved the flashback aspect and there's even a suspense element as well. The cast was so unexpected too, I mean, Ralph Macchio, Tate Donovan, Carol Kane, and Jon Stewart ? It really is who you know. But anyway, I can definitely recommend The Office Party. I have a feeling that it will be used as solid filler for many years to come !

While the dialog was nothing 'out of this world', the antics of the office employees alone made this little film fun to watch. Catch it if you can...it's only a few minutes long. I think it shows again on May 31, 2001 on Cinemax.

This short had interesting characters and acted as a nice nostalgia piece for anyone who worked in an office in the 80's. But I'm disappointed to see that everyone who left comments here let that blind them to one very crucial and fundamental flaw that, at least for me, completely ruins the short.

Why are Don's two buddies freaking out over his death? Why did they bury the body to hide the evidence? Evidence to what? Why did they worry about being found out? They didn't have anything to do with his death. Wouldn't normal people call the ambulance? The entire short is built on this contrivance, and that's why it crumbles under its own weight. This is really lazy writing, guys.

This is one of the coolest short films I have seen in a long time. If you have the means, get Cinemax and check out this short film. It is good to see Ralph "The Karate Kid" Macchio again. He and Tate Donovan made a good buddy team. I myself had visions of parties past where at least one fool drinks too much and passes out. You just have to do something to him. Nods to Jonathon Stewart as he does an outstanding job as Pizza Guy. Carol Kane tops this off with a decent performance. I will be watching out for bigger things from Chiara Edmands, who writes and directs this tongue-in-cheek piece. Enjoy!!!

I am actually in this film but I was a bit disappointed that my name did not make the online credits. This was a great cast and director to work with and I had so much fun playing Simon, the office geek. The scene that was the most fun to shoot was the closing credits sequence. If you look closely, you can see me hit my chin on the floor when I begin doing the caterpillar break dancing.
