Irony abounds in this very good movie

This extremely dark comedy is about a depressive, chain-smoking woman, her two equally troubled sons, and what happens at her house on the day she falls out of a moving taxi and has to be hospitalized.

One son, Ronnie, is basically a good-hearted, but thoroughly unmotivated and directionless guy who works at a halfway house for mentally challenged adults. He lives nearby in the shabby guest quarters behind his mom's rundown house.

At the halfway house, Ronnie, who doesn't have a girlfriend (and we suspect he has never had one), happens upon Sara, one of the resident women, who's standing naked in the bathroom.

She's muttering incoherently to herself. Nevertheless, Ronnie is intrigued, so much so that when he later sees her wandering down the street, he brings her to his room with romance on his mind.

Meanwhile, the other son, Keith, comes home from a stint in county jail with his girlfriend in tow. Soon he's joined by a couple of wild, druggy friends.

Ronnie's romantic interlude ends badly, not surprisingly. He ends up having to tie the very disturbed and helpless Sara to the bed to keep her quiet. He's frightened and confused, and he feels just awful about what he's done.

However, because Keith and his pals have decided to party all night in the house, Ronnie has a hard time correcting his mistake with Sara without being detected.

What happens next is a gruesomely amusing tale of bad decisions made by truly stupid people.

Great acting, great suspense -- and the ending is not to be missed. I heartily recommend this film!

Look at the IMDb plot synopsis

According to IMDb: "Things go terribly wrong when a troubled young man who works in a mental institution sets out to seduce a patient who has accidentally escaped." Wait, so things were going great before this young man attempts "to seduce" a developmentally challenged woman?! Later kidnapping, bloodying, and tying her up? Things sure went wrong all right. I feel for the poor woman who had to play that part. This movie disgusted me and IMDb's summary did too.

    This movie sucks!

This movie is complete crap. My friends bought it hoping to get a laugh out of a cheesy horror movie. Well we did laugh alright about how stupid it was! There is no plot, the whole movie makes no sense with how it ends. By the end of the movie you sit there thinking "What was the point of the whole rest of the movie??" Do not waste your money renting this movie, it's not worth a penny. I can't believe the writers thought this could be a good movie. It makes no sense, it has no plot, it's pointless. It shouldn't even belong in the horror section because no one gets killed intentionally.

Very good and not what you'd expect...

Im not sure why i bought this - I had not seen it or even ever heard of it and it doesnt even look very good based on the cover. I think it was something in the description on the back cover that tipped me off that this might be something out of the norm.. At any rate, this was the case. This is not a horror movie as you would think from the cover, in fact its not scary at all and doesnt try to be.

I dont feel like going into details, really i just wanted to add another positive review for a very good but unknown movie. Off beat but realistic. This will not appeal to alot of people but if you have an open mind and like indie-ish/different movies you quite possibly will like this alot.

Stupid decisions made by stupid people

Ronnie (Adam Scott, who'd later go on to parts in Step Brothers & the Matador) is a sad sack loser of a guy who works at a halfway house for the mentally disabled. He grows infatuated by Sara, one of the residents when he spies her naked n the bathroom. So much is his fondness that later when he sees her standing in the middle of the street (she had wondered out of the house) he decides to take her back to his mom's place (where he lives, mom's in the hospital after falling out of a taxi) for some nookie. Things get complicated when Ronnie's druggie brother, fresh out of prison, shows up a day early and decides to party with his equally pathetic friends. Meanwhile the other helper at the Halfway house is looking for Sara.

The movie started out with an intriguing premise, but soon devolved into something else entirely. Everyone in the film acts insanely stupid and none of their actions make much sense even under the lightest of scrutiny. By the end (which was such a WTF moment that I ceased to exist caring) I was though even trying to care what the hell was going on. The film felt more like a series of random story ideas thrown out there and less like a coherent plot. I'm positive there's a good story to be told of a mentally handicapped person who's kidnapped by a social worker for nefarious sexual purposes, but this movie just isn't it.

Eye Candy: Fini Goodman shows T&A but her character is mental
