A One-Mama Man

Charley Chase's mother married a Swedish count so her son could have a title. This makes. Burr MacIntosh's social-climbing wife get him as a dinner guest. MacIntosh hires some toughs to put him out of action, but Charley is more than their equal, as MacIntosh's daughter, Eugenia Gilbert, watches. Next McIntosh and Charley meet, and he hires Charley to impersonate himself, which he does with a monocle, a cigar holder, and, undoubtedly, a thick accent.

It's a variation on doubly-mistaken identities that Charley would play with several times in his career, and he offers a fine example as he and Miss Gilbert charmingly fall in love under false pretenses, with different gags in each iteration. The fun is helped by Vernon Dent as an unwanted suitor of Miss Gilbert, as well Gale Henry, who would be an occasional player in Chase sound shorts for Roach.
