Matthew Lillard on His Heartbreaking Role in Mike Flanagan’s ‘The Life of Chuck’ [June Cover Story]
Image
Matthew Lillard contains multitudes. Across decades, the actor and entrepreneur has needled a distinct tattoo of himself onto the chest of popular culture. His boisterous character work in early films like Hackers, Scream, Slc Punk, and Serial Mom quickly left a permanent imprint on both genre and alternative cinema.

Yet, as his career turned the page toward more mainstream fare, it left no less of a cult residue for generations of weirdos. His perfect casting as Shaggy, the stoner-coded sweetheart of the Scooby-Doo franchise, remains a key figure in the zeitgeist. And Thirteen Ghosts, where he completely steals the show, is a stone-cold horror classic and an all-time personal favorite.

Now, with The Life of Chuck, Mike Flanagan’s latest theatrical adaptation of a Stephen King tale, Lillard embarks on yet another new chapter creatively. The film is a genre-bending story about three chapters in the life of an ordinary man named Charles Krantz.

Charles Band’s Lost Tony Todd Film ‘Cutter’s Club’ Now on Tubi
Image
Back in 2005, B-movie maven Charles Band directed genre icon Tony Todd in Cutter’s Club, but the indie horror movie ran into financial trouble at the end of production and it never saw the light of day.

20 years later, in the wake of Todd’s passing, Band rescued the lost negative and completed the film, which is now streaming exclusively on Tubi via Full Moon Features.

Creatures, carnage, and macabre malpractice ensue when a pair of medical students get involved in a secret society of surgery fetishists and monster makers called the Cutter’s Club, overseen by the maddest of doctors.

The script is written by Neal Marshall Stevens under the pseudonym Benjamin Carr.

The film features 35mm cinematography from Mac Ahlberg and special effects by John Carl Buechler, both of whom have since passed.

“I shot a feature 20 years ago starring Tony Todd called Cutter’s Club. The lady...

Matthew Lillard is circling a role in Mike Flanagan's Carrie series
Image
Scream star Matthew Lillard is considering a role in the upcoming Carrie television series in development from Mike Flanagan for Amazon.

Deadline reports that the star has been considering teaming up with Flanagan again for the show, which is based on Stephen King's iconic horror novel. Lillard has previously worked with Flanagan on The Life of Chuck, an acclaimed film based on a King novella that will premiere this June. Flanagan frequently works with actors more than once, so this casting would make sense.

Per the outlet, there hasn't been any update on who Lillard would be playing in the series, but there aren't that many adult male options in the story. It seems likely that he would play the school's principal or maybe a teacher. Either way, I'm guessing Lillard's part will be somewhat small since Carrie's biggest parts are dedicated to Carrie herself, her mother, Carrie's teen tormentors,...

‘The Slashin’ of the Christ’ – Ice Nine Kills Teasing Horror Movie Produced by Greg Nicotero
Image
From the people who brought you “The Walking Dead,” Final Destination and Super Troopers (how’s that for a wildly unexpected pairing?!) comes The Slashin’ of the Christ, a mysterious upcoming horror project that has popped up on the Bloody Disgusting radar this week.

The project has come to our attention after a series of cryptic teases from the social media accounts for the band Ice Nine Kills, and we’ve been able to deduce that Ink frontman Spencer Charnas wrote the script for The Slashin’ of the Christ alongside Paul Soter (Super Troopers).

Paul Soter, a member of the popular Broken Lizard comedy group, wrote films including Super Troopers, Beerfest, and the slasher comedy Club Dread, and he’ll be returning to the horror arena with the upcoming film The Slashin’ of the Christ. Also on board this mysterious film? Filmmaker, makeup FX master and “The Walking Dead” executive producer Greg Nicotero!

If You Loved Matthew Lillard in 'Scream,' Go Watch to Check Out His Other Cult Classic Horror for Free
Image
Matthew Lillard is an iconic name in the horror genre, mostly for his performance as Stu Macher in Scream, but he's also gaining recent recognition as William Afton in Five Nights at Freddy’s. However, one of his lesser-known appearances comes in Thirteen Ghosts, a movie that was criticized on its initial release but has garnered appreciation over the years. The movie is a remake of a classic William Castle feature of the same name and tells the story of a ghost hunter who collects troubled spirits. Lillard is obviously the standout, injecting his signature humor and magnetism into the role. Still, Thirteen Ghosts has impressive character design and practical effects that allow it to extend beyond a 2000s cliché horror flick.

Matthew Lillard Returns as Stu in ‘Scream 7’- But How?!
Image
After nearly three decades, Scream 7 is set to deliver one of the biggest twists in the franchise’s history — Matthew Lillard is returning as Stu Macher. The announcement, revealed by Deadline, has sparked speculation and excitement among horror fans, as the character was believed to have been definitively killed off in the 1996 original.

Lillard’s return marks a full-circle moment for the actor, whose role as the horror-obsessed, unhinged high schooler in Wes Craven’s Scream launched his career. While his character’s demise—via a television dropped on his head—seemed final, the Scream series has never shied away from bending its own rules. Whether through flashbacks, retcons, or unexpected narrative twists, the franchise has found ways to bring back past characters in surprising ways. The question remains: How is Stu still alive? Fans have speculated for years that he could have survived, perhaps resurfacing as a mastermind behind Ghostface killings all along.

Dead and Dangerous: Horror’s Most Terrifying Ghosts
Image
We’re all afraid of ghosts to some extent. Not only do these spectral creatures somehow exist outside the laws of rational reality, they embody the ever present shadow of death slyly hanging over us all. Whether benevolent or benign, ghosts linger in our world for a variety of reasons. Some are driven to complete unfinished business or protect a loved one from across the veil while others simply enjoy harming those of us still among the living.

Now playing in theaters, Steven Soderbergh’s Presence (get tickets now) explores the motivations of an unseen spirit haunting the Payne family in their new suburban home. Told from the phantom’s point of view, we watch as this mysterious being causes chaos in the house while attempting to deliver a horrific message. Though their story is uniquely terrifying, the Payne family are not alone. The horror genre is filled with dangerous...

Flipping the Foundation: 7 Haunted House Films That Dare to be Different
Image
Few horror movie sub-genres are more enduring, influential, and prolific than the haunted house movie. A solid genre staple, haunted house movies captivate with their eerie atmospheres and the intense psychological games that so often unfold. From early cinematic examples like The Old Dark House (1932) to modern re-imaginings such as Steven Soderbergh’s Presence, now playing in theaters everywhere (get tickets now), the haunted house subgenre has consistently evolved while retaining its core elements.

The enduring appeal of these stories lies in the sub-genre’s ability to tap into universal fears—abandonment, the unknown, and the unsettling notion that our homes, meant to be places of safety, can become sites of terror. While traditional tropes like creaky floorboards, flickering lights, tragic backstories, and isolated locations have certainly shaped the subgenre’s identity, films that challenge and expand these tried and true tropes have allowed the subgenre to evolve and flourish.

Matthew Lillard’s Iconic 19% Rotten Tomatoes Horror Film Will Soon Haunt a Free Streamer
Image
Matthew Lillard’s name will forever be synonymous with horror thanks to his 1996 appearance in what many would consider to be the greatest slasher flick of all time — Wes Craven’s Scream. Despite his character, Stu Macher, only appearing in the first movie in the six-going-on-seven film series, Lillard continues to bask in his Scream fame at fan conventions and probably just in his daily life. More recently, he dipped into another growing horror franchise with his performance in Emma Tammi’s Five Nights at Freddy’s, but in between then and now, the Scooby-Doo actor was part of a terribly good cult classic genre film. Beginning on February 1, you can see Lillard in action, as Thirteen Ghosts will arrive on Tubi — meaning interested parties can stream it totally free of charge.

This Haunting 11-Year-Old Horror Mystery Is Perfect for Longlegs Fans
Image
Quick Links The Entire Movie Takes Place at a Police Station Last Shift Depicts Occult Horror Similar to Longlegs The Movie Plays Tricks On the Mind the Whole Time Last Shift's Cryptic Ending Is Worth the Wait

The horror genre has been experiencing a massive change for the last decade. The masterful art of terrifying the viewers has categorically evolved, transitioning out of trope-filled storytelling and approach. Instead of blatantly depending upon supernatural elements, most horror movies have shifted to a slow and steady buildup supported by a strong foundation of good writing and direction. Recent hits like Longlegs, When Evil Lurks, Oddity, and more have awakened the audience's excitement for psychological horrors, which are proficiently well-balanced with adequate jumpscares and ominous presences.

Having said that, if fans have particularly enjoyed the brilliant amalgamation of crime drama and horror like Longlegs, there's an 11-year-old underrated title that will also invoke similar emotions.

15 Best Mystery Horror Movies of All Time
Image
Horror has always been one of cinema's most versatile genres and has been blended with everything from science fiction to Western to deliver terrifying stories. Many horror movies will use a whodunit-style of mystery to keep audiences engaged, forcing them to try and guess which of the film's characters is the person behind the mask. This is a particular hallmark of slashers, which offer viewers a cast of characters who may be the killer, inviting them to try and work it out before the big reveal.

Horror and mystery go together incredibly well, especially considering the genre's natural overlap with the themes of the thriller genre. Some of the best films and franchises of all time remain popular due to their ability to craft a genuine puzzle for viewers to solve, with some being so great they're worth it just to see the big unmasking. The Seinfeld Role That Tony Shalhoub Auditioned For
Image
"Seinfeld" is a stone cold classic of a sitcom that never had to rely on a laugh track to have its viewers in stitches. Still, like so many other long-running hit shows, it had its share of behind-the-scenes issues and "what could have been" scenarios. Some of "Seinfeld's worst episodes can seem outright tacky compared to the show's usually stellar quality. The now-classic episode "The Pen" nearly sunk the show after the exclusion of Jason Alexander's George Costanza and Michael Richards' Cosmo Kramer angered the former to the brink of a walkout. Oh, and speaking of George, there's another way the character could have changed the show's course in a significant way: As it turns out, none other than Tony Shalhoub once auditioned for that crucial "Seinfeld" role.

Whispers that "Monk" star Shalhoub auditioned for the character of Kramer are readily available online, but in a 2023 interview with Today,...

Why This Actor Thought DWTS Would Ruin His Chances At An Oscar
Image
Dancing With the Stars has opened the door for new opportunities for some celebrities who have competed on the show. In Season 33, The Bachelor's Joey Graziadei and his fiance Kelsey Anderson went from reality TV stars to popular influencers. Model Brooks Nader and Gleb Savchenko's showmance made constant headlines. Even former mirrorball trophy winner and 90s actor, Alfonso Ribeiro, found himself with a brand-new career as the show's co-host.

However, not every celebrity who gets approached to be on DWTS finds it a great opportunity for their career. A certain Hollywood actor turned down the chance to be a contestant for fears that he wouldn't be able to land any more serious acting roles. For this actor, the thought of competing on the beloved reality TV show would just do the opposite for his career.

Interview: Matthew Lillard & Find Familiar Spirits Honor Horror Fans with MacAbre Spirits Tequila
Image
During the month of October, it’s fairly common for people to talk about spirits. After all, ghosts and demons and the like have become staples of the Halloween season. But for Scooby-Doo, Thirteen Ghosts, and Scream star Matthew Lillard, his latest project deals with a very different kind of spirit: The alcoholic kind.

Lillard joined forces with screenwriter and producer Justin Ware to start Find Familiar Spirits in 2022. Named after a famous Dungeons & Dragons spell, the alcohol brand is dedicated to crafting spirits with the same authenticity and kinship found in fandom. Their first line of products was dubbed Queen’s End Whiskey in honor of fantasy tabletop gaming. But now, in an ode to the horror community, the company has launched Macabre Spirits, which features a series of tequilas that celebrate the genre that the actor has become so entrenched in throughout his career.

Wes Craven at an event for Scream 4 (2011)
The impact that Kevin Wiliamson and Wes Craven had with Scream way back in 1996 is undeniable. “Ghostface” become quite a horror legend, As well, the classic feature spawned a new group of actors to popularity. Neve Campbell, Skeet Ulrich, Courtney Cox, David Arquette, Drew Barrymore (of course), and more. The features also offered up a stand-out performance was given by Matthew Lillard as “Stu Machner.” The actor is perhaps just as memorable in the classic than the three leads who survived a few more masked psychos along the way.

The actor continued to work in many a comedy. Even still it seems that he tends to get noticed as a horror guy. Thanks to movies like Scream, Thir13en Ghosts, and now Five Nights at Freddy’s, the dude has earned his genre cred. So much so that Lillard has moved into a few other lanes with his career. Thirteen Ghosts: Every Ghost In The Black Zodiac Explained
Image
13 Ghosts contains violence, discussions of sexual assault, and suicide.

The 2001 Dark Castle horror movie 13 Ghosts, also referred to as Thir13n Ghosts or Thirteen Ghosts, is a highly underrated cult movie. 13 Ghosts centers on the Kriticos family and their attempts to escape the 13 Ghosts held by ancient glyphs in the Cyrus Kriticos' glass mansion. Every ghost has a complete backstory and unique aesthetic design, making it possible for each ghost to be a horror movie villain in their own right. All the ghosts differ in how they look and kill, and they were wildly ahead of their time when the movie hit theaters in 2001.

13 Ghosts gained a cult following thanks to the creative prosthetic special effects seen in the film. The 13 Ghosts' costume design ensures each has a clear backstory and M.O. that sets them apart, from the First Born Son to the Angry Princess. The movie...

Enough Is a Myth: Celebrating One Year of Feminine Rage [The Lady Killers Podcast]
Betsy Palmer in Il segno della legge (1957)
“Yes, we know murder is bad.”

On October 13th, 2023, The Lady Killers Podcast released its first episode to an unsuspecting public, sparking conversation about female characters we love to hate. Co-hosts Jenn Adams, Sammie Kuykendall, Rocco Thompson, and Mae Shults gathered around microphones to discuss one of our favorite female killers, Pamela Voorhees, the murderous mother who kicks off one of horror’s most beloved franchises . Our goal was to explore the cinematic landscape of lady killers and the horrific world of feminine rage. Why do we find female villains so taboo? How do they thrive in a world dominated by men? What makes us love these glamorous bad girls and why would we die for them even though, yes, we know murder is bad?

Over the past year, Sammie, Mae, Rocco, and I have celebrated and saluted some of the genre’s most beguiling characters, from Carrie White, Amy Dunne,...

10 Horror Flops From The 2000s That Are Worth Revisiting
Image
Having received mixed to negative reviews upon their initial releases, a few horror films from the 2000s are worth taking another look at. The 2000s prompted some memorable horror protagonists and horror sequels, but a few films took a bit longer to find their audience. Films like Cloverfield and Drag Me to Hell are widely discussed entries from the 2000s that have only continued to grow in popularity, while films like Thirteen Ghosts and Slither took longer to earn respect.

In a genre with rich, inventive storytelling and special effects, it's only understandable that certain films were widely dismissed when they first hit theaters. A few of the films have earned massive cult followings, while others are on their way to achieving a similar status. With enough time having passed since they were first released, there's something to enjoy in each of these horror films initially marked as a failure.

‘Tarot’ – Screen Gems Horror Movie Heads to Netflix Next Month
La profezia del male (2024)
After a successful box office run, Sony’s Screen Gems’ Tarot card-themed movie Tarot (formerly titled Horrorscope) is heading to streaming next month.

Look for Tarot to arrive on Netflix on August 1, 2024.

The plot sees a group of friends unleashing a curse when they decide to play with a mysterious box of tarot cards. One by one, they come face to face with their fate and end up in a race against death to escape the future foretold in their readings.

Larsen Thompson, Harriet Slater, Adain Bradley, Avantika and Jacob Batalon star in the gateway horror movie Tarot, which was directed by Spenser Cohen & Anna Halberg. The film is very loosely based on a novel by Nicholas Adams.

I wrote in my review for Bloody Disgusting, “Tarot has the makings of a breezy gateway horror movie perfect for sleepovers, though it’s undermined by surface-level characters and storytelling.” Her review continues,...

Why Ghost Ship Still Has Horror's Best Opening Scene
Image
Ghost Ship's opening sequence remains unmatched due to its violent shock factor and unique VFX tricks in the horror genre. The film pays homage to iconic horror director William Castle, integrating tradition with modern-day CGI to create a timeless masterpiece. Those who enjoyed Ghost Ship's opening scene must check out The Fog, 1408, or 13 Ghosts for similarly immersive ghost stories and claustrophobic horror.

Ghost Ship is an overlooked horror movie of the early 2000s that delivers one of the most emblematic opening sequences of the century so far. Horror films tend to open in one of two ways: either with a slow build or a sudden shock. The former is a little safer since there's no risk of peaking too early, but the latter has the potential to get people talking. Director John Carpenter often started his movies with comparatively flashy moments, notably Michael Myers' eye view of his...

Lillard's character in Five Nights At Freddy's allows for creative narrative possibilities, unlike the limitations in a Scream comeback. Five Nights At Freddy's provides Lillard an exciting opportunity in the horror genre, diverging from his comedic roles.

Five Nights At Freddys 2 is expected to bring Matthew Lillard back to continue the story of villain William Afton, through which this horror franchise would be beating the decades-long request of another popular franchise. Matthew Lillard is known for his unique acting style and his comedic roles, but he has also become a beloved actor in the horror genre. Lillards acting career began in the horror genre in 1991 with Ghoulies III: Ghoulies Go To College, but he earned a place in horror history when he played one of the first Ghostface killers, Stu Macher,...

‘Tarot’ – Meet the Evil Entities Designed by Creature Concept Artist Trevor Henderson [Exclusive]
Image
A deck full of terror awaits in the new Screen Gems horror movie Tarot, which features a variety of new supernatural entities designed by concept artist Trevor Henderson.

Tarot, in theaters now, is written and directed by Spenser Cohen & Anna Halberg, very loosely based on a novel by Nicholas Adams.

The plot sees a group of friends unleashing a curse when they decide to play with a mysterious box of tarot cards. One by one, they come face to face with their fate and end up in a race against death to escape the future foretold in their readings.

Trevor Henderson designed the creature concept art, which was transformed into the cursed tarot deck by artist Richard Wells. The supernatural Tarot entities were then brought to life on screen by special effects and creature effects designer Dan Martin (Possessor, Infinity Pool). Bloody Disgusting spoke with Henderson about designing the entities for Tarot,...

Devon Sawa Pits Chucky Against Villains From 'Final Destination' & 'Casper'
Image
Although the title “Scream Queen” has been around for decades, used to describe popular stars like Jamie Lee Curtis (Halloween) and Neve Campbell (Scream), “Scream King” is one that’s just started to make the rounds in Hollywood. The long-standing name in that game has been Matthew Lillard, who appeared alongside Campbell in Scream and other ‘90s horror flicks including Thirteen Ghosts, but we’re here to make sure that Devon Sawa is awarded his proper due. With numerous contributions to the genre, the actor’s first spooky scary role was in 1995’s Casper, before he’d become the face of iconic titles including Idle Hands and Final Destination.

Matthew Lillard's New Scream Franchise Replacement Is Way Better Than A Stu Return
Image
Matthew Lillard's future in horror is brighter with Five Nights at Freddy's than with Scream. William Afton in Fnaf has more lore and potential than Stu in Scream. Lillard's Afton can return in Fnaf 2 with a big impact, while Stu could only return in a minor cameo appearance.

Matthew Lillard has a place in horror history thanks to the Scream franchise, but his replacement for it is a lot better than a potential return to Woodsboro as Stu. Matthew Lillard is best known for his comedic roles in different movies from the 1990s and 2000s, but he also has an interesting history in the horror genre. Lillard’s big screen debut was in 1991’s comedy horror Ghoulies III: Ghoulies Go To College, and in 1996, he played his most memorable horror role to date in Wes Craven’s Scream.

Lillard’s character, Stu Macher, went down in horror history alongside his partner in crime,...

Gothika (2003) Revisited – Horror Movie Review
Image
The episode of Best Horror Movie You Never Saw covering Gothika was Written and Edited by Paul Bookstaber, Narrated by Kier Gomes, Produced by John Fallon and Tyler Nichols, and Executive Produced by Berge Garabedian.

Back in the late 90’s, early 2000s the horror genre was in that weird phase of encapsulating what it truly wanted to be. Hot off the heels of Scream, horror movies focused much more on the teenage angst, and lifestyle. But there comes a time when some hidden gems make their way to the silver screen that branch off the beaten path with a more adult-themed tale, drenched in psychological/mental horror. What if one day you’re living your average life, working your 9-5, and suddenly black, out only to wake up, institutionalized and accused of committing a crime you can’t seem to remember doing? In 2003, director Mathieu Kassovitz gave us a True...

Matthew Lillard can finally talk about his Five Nights at Freddy’s comeback
Image
With the actor’s strike finally over, Matthew Lillard can finally talk about the plum role he has in Five Nights at Freddy’s. In a recent THR interview, Lillard mentioned being thrilled about how fans have reacted to the film, noting:

“Being 53 years old — and being around the block a couple times — I have a much deeper sense of appreciation in this moment than I probably have ever had because I didn’t expect it. I realize that these opportunities don’t come around that often. It’s been a really rich, joyful moment because I can sort of sit back and appreciate it on a deeper level.”

Lillard’s character, who has a rich mythology in the game, could well wind-up being a recurring presence in the Five Nights at Freddy’s world, especially with the film such a huge hit in theaters and on Peacock. But, it turns...

Matthew Lillard's Five Nights At Freddy's Villain Needs A Closer Look
Image
This post contains spoilers for "Five Nights at Freddy's."

Matthew Lillard is a horror legend and we don't say it enough. We know him and we love him from films like "She's All That," "Slc Punk," "Without a Paddle" ... any "Love's Labour's Lost" fans out there? But the man got his start in horror and his irrepressible comic spirit and fearless willingness to switch to pitch-black menace on a dime have made him an extremely effective and underrated horror star, as you can see in films like "Scream," "Scooby Doo," and "Thirteen Ghosts."

Lillard has just added another glinting badge to his vest in the form of "Five Nights at Freddy's." We meet him as Steve Raglan, the career counselor that our hero, Mike Schmidt (Josh Hutcherson), is sent to after he beats up a dad in front of his son while on the job. Tom Hiddleston Leads the Cast in Stephen King’s ‘The Life of Chuck’: Latest Additions Unveiled!
Image
Horror enthusiasts have another reason to celebrate as Mike Flanagan’s adaptation of Stephen King’s ‘The Life of Chuck‘ takes shape. Initially teasing fans with big names such as Tom Hiddleston, Mark Hamill, and Karen Gillan, the excitement intensified with the inclusion of horror legends Heather Langenkamp and Matthew Lillard.

It’s interesting to note that this isn’t the first collaboration between Flanagan and Langenkamp. They previously teamed up for Netflix’s ‘The Midnight Club,’ which aired back in 2022. While Langenkamp’s return to Flanagan’s fold has garnered attention, the addition of Matthew Lillard, famed for roles in ‘Scream’ and ‘Thirteen Ghosts,’ further beefs up the roster.

And the surprises don’t end there. Mia Sara, remembered fondly from ‘Ferris Bueller’s Day Out,’ makes a significant comeback after a hiatus from the limelight. Others joining the project include David Dastmalchian, Harvey Guillén, Trinity Jo-Li Bliss, Antonio Raul Corbo,...

10 Horror Franchises That Actually Have a Good Ending
Image
The horror genre is certainly not the place for happy or decent endings. It's proven to be the home of brutal endings time and time again. However, the idea of a horror movie having a happy or good ending isn't impossible. There are plenty of horror movies with perfect conclusions, including films like Thirteen Ghosts, The Babadook, and Get Out, to name a few. There tend to be more horror movies with jaw-dropping endings like The Descent.

With that said, though, it's far less likely to find a horror franchise with a good ending. Simply put, there aren't many horror franchises with a clear finale. It seems there's a never-ending stream of remakes, sequels, and even requels keeping horror fans entertained. So, having a horror franchise with a good or somewhat happy ending is, in fact, extremely rare.

Thirteen Ghosts Ending Explained: Love Conquers All — Even Death
Image
The 2001 cult classic horror remake "Thirteen Ghosts" has a dedicated following for a reason: it's a brutally nasty, deeply creative horror film that creates its own unique mythology and utilizes it to tell a surprisingly heartfelt story. The movie follows bereaved widower Arthur Kriticos (Tony Shalhoub) and his family after he inherits a mysterious mansion from his ghost hunter uncle Cyrus (F. Murray Abraham). Unfortunately for Arthur, the mansion is absolutely murderous.

The end of the film pulls each of the 12 ghosts trapped within the mansion together for a bizarre ritual to make Cyrus immortal that requires the titular thirteenth ghost to work -- but things don't go as planned for crafty ole' Cyrus and he's torn apart by the very souls he was going to sacrifice. It's seriously satisfying, especially after the full cruelty of Cyrus' plan is revealed in the third act and the audience realizes why he...

What The Thirteen Ghosts Cast Has Done Since 2001
Image
Thirteen Ghosts, the 2001 supernatural horror from director Steve Beck, has a star-studded cast of household names taking top billing, but many didn't achieve this status until after the film's release. After inheriting a mansion from his uncle, widow Cyrus Kriticos (F. Murray Abraham) moves into it with his children and their nanny, only to find the house is haunted by ghosts. Thirteen Ghosts (2001) was a remake of the original of the same name, which was originally released in 1960.

At the time of release, the film got mostly negative critiques and was not well received by audiences, but over time became an unappreciated classic to many. In August 2023, it was announced that a television series adaptation inspired by the films was in development, but there has been no confirmation whether it will involve the 2001 film cast or not. However, it's clear from their established careers, they may not need to return to the Thirteen Ghosts universe.
