Shin-Chan is about a kinder-gardener named Shin Nohara who has the mind of a high schooler. He's trouble-making, vulgar, and a real brat. Besides those characteristics, he lives with his family who find him to be a real pain in the shins whenever he's around. Everyday is something different for Shin when it comes to playing games with his friends, being flirted by a rich girl, or trying to collect the merchandise of his favorite action hero.
Despite the DVDs only containing the English version. Shin-Chan is one of those fewest anime that are watchable even if it contains English text edits and in-jokes on today's media. These were done so that way the show can survive the increasing anime industry in America. I'm not sure if it'll last long if it the English Dub was more true to the original version. I only seen one episode of Shin-Chan in Japanese which was still funny but less humorous than the English dub. One day we might get to see the Japanese version along with the English dub on DVD. For now the DVDs are the only way to see this anime.
Like the second Lupin III anime dub(which only had 79 out of 155 episodes), this anime has in the cheek humor. You'll be hearing jokes on various American movies, TV shows, and occasionally some recognizable anime titles. Along with Godzilla and Kamen Rider in-jokes that'll guarantee to tickle your funny bone.
If you're old enough to watch TV-MA material anime then it shouldn't be a problem for you to watch Shin-Chan. Cause there's a lot of swearing, and boy nudity in it.

Ahh, yes, I remember this show, I watched it sometimes back when it was airing here, it was a very funny anime that seemed very different from the rest of the popular and over-hyped series here, but nonetheless it was also a very popular show to a lot of people. The animation may not look very colorful like most popular anime shows but the humor is what makes it great, Shinnosuke or Shin-chan is like the Japanese answer to Bart Simpson or Stan of South Park, he gets very much in trouble with his parents like the time he got lost and went to a police station bothering the cops and citizens reporting sexual harassment, I also like the one where he messes up the restaurant they were in. I used to watched this on RPN until it was replaced by the Nick toon shows, they are fine, but I wish they would still air this. I see the movies based on this sometimes on BS WOWOW, so it's proof that this show is still good out there. Oh yeah, the Philippine dubbed version has Andrew E., a popular singer here in the Philippines, he voiced Shin-chan, but I believe he did it perfectly and not too cheesy.
It was airing in Japan and on Kiku TV, a local TV network in Hawaii. It was on at 7pm and all the episodes are subtitle in english. First there was Bart Simpson, then there was Beavis and Butthead, and now the next mischief making youngster in TV history is Shinosuke from the longest running anime TV show Crayon Shinchan. Shinosuke is a only 5 years old and he's only in Kindergarten, he's even a perverted boy who likes to flirt at tall beautiful women. And his mother is only 27-years-old Shinosuke makes her go crazy. It was a great TV series, Kiku TV somehow recently stopped airing the show here in Hawaii.
Lately there have been some people taking some huge jabs at this show, Shin-Chan (mainly known as Crayon Shin-Chan in Japan and internationally). From what I've seen on Adult Swim, it was actually quite refreshing.
The amateurish designs of the characters (hence the original Japanese title) are a part of what got me into it, since a lot more than what you usually see in anime, and the writing for it is air-tight, mostly because a couple of people who worked on "Space Ghost: Coast to Coast" were involved.
The scripts may not be as close to the original as most people would have wanted, but since it's a comedy series, and usually involves jokes involving culture, most of the script had to be altered to match the similar jabs at our culture so it can be funny.
Let's hope that Shin-Chan will eventually become a regular running series on the Adult Swim line-up soon, and that it will be there for the long run.

Showing a story of a 5-year-old kid in association with both reality and animation.A excellent comedy series related to our life, showing a child's life olong with some unreal and mistery things too for drama.Although the movies were not great, but the episodes are awesome. But the kindergarten part could be more strong.
Finally - Well done the voice artists. This series can make anyone's childhood worthwhile.

- QuizIn an interview, Yoshito Usui explained that the character of Shinnosuke is based on the child he would like to be.

The Pink Pussy: No criminals can escape from the Pink Pussy!
Enchman: Oh yeah, the censors are gonna love that one.
- Curiosità sui creditiThe end credits are played over footage of Shin dancing around.
- Versioni alternativeFunimation took the advantage of making this anime more successful in America by re-organizing the episode segments in any order they like it to be. Also the writers included movie/TV show parodies and more vulgar jokes to make it more funnier than the original version. A majority of Japanese kanji was replaced with English, while some occasions the kanji is left in tact.
