La casa delle streghe

Another movie shot on video and film looked to fool us into thinking it was SHOT on film. Dammit!! I sure hope this little fad fades away. This movie would still have been no good had it been shot on film... bad acting, camera, you name it. Avoid it.

This movie tries to be serious and winds up being boring as hell and stupid. Not very entertaining at all. I gave this movie * star out of **** for the effort. Go rent something really scary, do not waste your money on this crap.

I don't expect much from films of this genre. I just hope to come away with some enjoyment. I'd say that Ariauna Albright's Lilith is the main attraction. The script is wordy and sometimes borders on literary competence. Certainly some lines made me smile at the wit. Others jarred.

The introductory sequence is rather grating. Dementia is attractive but she spoils things when she speaks.

The Blair Witch references don't generally work to the film's advantage. I thought the interview collage with the town's people was embarrassing rather than funny. However the camcorder sequence in the Witch House is effective.

Lilith's cohorts are very unconvincing in their movements. The conflict scenes are under par. The acting varies from unconvincing to adequate. The film's tone lurches in various directions. However the story does keep you guessing. Some pro-Lilith adherents will be disappointed with the denouement.

I really enjoyed the first Witchouse movie, but this one has something that part 1 didn't: AN actual suspenseful scene, and its better acted. I reccommend that you watch both movies and you will not be dissappointed.

Better than the typical "FULL MOON" effort for that very reason. There was obviously effort put into this film. It doesn't all work by any means but it's an interesting yarn told pretty well. A good effort from J.R. Bookwalter who leads the game cast, including Andrew Prine, through the paces. Much like "THE GODFATHER", this just might be better than the original "WITCHOUSE"...
