Yes, this one is like the first tomb raider, as you are mainly in dark underground tombs and temples. Its main drawback is the fact that this one can get really tough at times, and get really annoying fast. Whereas the first one is rather straight forward, this one will have you going here and there at times, and doubling back. Still, it is fun in that I like the whole Egyptian setting...as nearly all the action in this one takes place in pyramids and desert tombs. No military bases or stuff of that nature here. Larau must stop the awakening of a god, or it could spell the end of all humanity. The controls are basic tomb raider, as is the story. This time her foe is an old mentor, and if you have seen any type of special on tomb raider you will recognize him as the original star of this series of games, before they decided to go with pretty Laura in the lead instead. Good choice. So be prepared for multiple enemies, lots and lots of traps, and a lot of dark areas where you must use flares. You will also get to drive a jeep this time around too, and there is a train scene to enjoy as well. Granted some of the puzzles and areas this time around are really going to annoy you at times.

Hay guys, i don't understand why people say that TR4 is OK. i played this game for 4times each time found some thing new and i am very impressed with music and weapons and also vechiles. I personally feel that most the gamers doesn't like this game because they doesn't like to play puzzle games...
If you like adventure games, if want to see ur self with mummies then this game will rock you. you will be on tombs, road, water, train and allover world .... Movies are pretty good. you will have choice in selecting routes.especially i like valley of kings level where you will have motorbike and it looks amazing.

I've heard alot of people say bad things about this game. Personally, I find it to be the best Tomb Raider game I have played. For me, it's all about gameplay AND plot... without one, the other is useless. There were quite a few challenging puzzles in this one, lots of nasty traps and enemies, too. I'll admit that I caught on fire more times than I'd like to remember, but it's all for the love of the game. I also think that this game also had the best Lara voice. I don't know if it was just the audio quality, or if they used a different voice actress, but I thought the voice acting was quite superb. My only complaint is that there weren't more "movies"... instead they gave us animations that looked like the game. If my gameplay is going to be interrupted for an animation, at least make it QUALITY animation. All in all, I found the game quite challenging and fun, and as I stated before, the plot was great. Possibly even better than the movie released this summer, which I loved.

I loved Tomb raiders 1 and 2 so much, the gameplay, soundtracks, visuals at the time, storys, level design, challenge, variety, setting s, the mansions, the boss fights, everything!. Tomb raider 3 tho while decent felt like a step backwards for the series due to it having less tombs to raid, a story that was forgetable, level design that was flawed, pacing that was too long at points, and it being kinda boring in areas. Tho saying that the mansion was enjoyable and the presentation was solid. Tomb raider 4 tho is an improvement over 3 but as good as the first two. Tomb raider 4 has a much better story then 3s and is very good, there is more Tomb raiding then 3, the pacing and level design is better, and graphics were very good for the time, the music is good, atmosphere, levels, weapons, etc. The setting is all in ebypt but I didn't mind this since there is level variety here and for it to take place in ebypt is good since that's a great place to have a game called tomb raider in. While is the game is more enjoyable then 3 and is great there are a few problems. The second half is bit confusing and no laras mansion is a bit of a disappointment to. There are some sections to that could have been better. But overall the game is great and I would recommend it.

I have always been a fan of this type of game. I really enjoyed the first three in the series and this one itself is fun for awhile. While I was playing, though, it struck me that it's just the same game over and over. Sure the local may be different and the graphics may be tweeked, but it's just the same thing. The game itself is fine, but nothing we've not seen before.
