Almost seven years ago, it was announced that a reboot of Buffy the Vampire Slayer was in development with Monica Owusu-Breen, co-creator of the TV show Midnight, Texas, writing, executive producing, and serving as showrunner. It was said that the new show would be “contemporary, building on the mythology of the original.” That project never made it into production – and earlier this year, it was revealed that we’re going to be getting a Buffy the Vampire Slayer revival instead, with Sarah Michelle Gellar returning to the role of Buffy Summers and Chloé Zhao directing the first episode. The Buffy the Vampire Slayer reboot, which reportedly has "New Sunnydale" as its working title, has started shooting in Los Angeles. With that comes what appears to be a first look at Star Wars: Skeleton Crew star Ryan Kiera Armstrong as the show's new lead slayer.

The town of Blairstown, New Jersey was used as the stand-in for the fictional town of Crystal Lake during the filming of director Sean S. Cunningham’s 1980 classic Friday the 13th – and now, the cast and crew of the Peacock TV series Crystal Lake are filming in the same town, making this the first Friday the 13th project to use Blairstown as Crystal Lake since the original movie! Hip-hop icon and “Law & Order: Svu” star Ice-t has signed on to host the 2025 Clue Awards, set to take place Sept. 6 during the annual CrimeCon convention. Presenters on stage will include “CSI” franchise creator Anthony E. Zuiker, ABC News’ John Quiñones, Dr. Ann Burgess and Matt Murphy.

Almost seven years ago, it was announced that a reboot of Buffy the Vampire Slayer was in development with Monica Owusu-Breen, co-creator of the TV show Midnight, Texas, writing, executive producing, and serving as showrunner. It was said that the new show would be “contemporary, building on the mythology of the original.” That project never made it into production – and earlier this year, it was revealed that we’re going to be getting a Buffy the Vampire Slayer revival instead, with Sarah Michelle Gellar returning to the role of Buffy Summers and Chloé Zhao directing the first episode. Since then, teenage actress Ryan Kiera Armstrong (Firestarter) has been cast as a new slayer (an introverted high school student named Nova), and now, Gellar has shared a video that shows her training for the show side-by-side with Armstrong! After a few lackluster seasons, Law & Order: Svu Season 27 sounds like a vast improvement.

For starters, Amanda (Kelli Giddish) will be back full-time. It’s a nice reprieve after a revolving door of new characters who haven’t quite fallen into place.

And now, a special episode includes an extensive line-up of returns. However, this makes us wonder if the team is celebrating or mourning Cap. Don Cragen.

We’re not sure when it will air, but the line-up seems similar to Law & Order: Svu’s 500th episode, and includes Chris Meloni (Elliot Stabler), Brian Cassidy (Dean Winters), and Dr. George Huang (Bd Wong).

While Don Cragen has appeared on Law & Order: Organized Crime, he did not appear on Law & Order: Svu Season 23 Episode 6, which is the show’s milestone 500th episode.

The actress-singer was recently asked for the Today show’s “8 Before 8” video series, “If you had a guest starring role on Svu, what character would you play?” And it’s safe to say she doesn’t want just a victim or killer role.

“Let me tell ya. I would be Mariska Hargitay‘s lover. She would be gay, finally,” Rapp responded, referring to the actress who plays Captain Olivia Benson on the long-running police procedural.

“There was an episode where they were talking about it and considering if she was gay,” the “Leave Me Alone” singer recalled. “I feel like Christopher Meloni’s character [Detective Elliot Stabler] was like, ‘No, like, you’re a lesbian.’ And she was like, ‘Um, no.’ Liar.”

They've done it again. Longtime best friends and former Law & Order: Special Victims Unit co-stars Mariska Hargitay and Christopher Meloni have broken the internet (and this author.) Hargitay and Meloni previously broke the internet back in March, when Meloni filmed a scene for the Svu and L&o crossover "Play With Fire." Season 27 has officially been underway for nearly two weeks, with a premiere date set for September 25. The series will premiere alongside the flagship Law & Order for Season 25, as well as a first-time broadcast of Law & Order: Organized Crime Season 5. After set pictures surfaced of major cast members gathering, such as Hargitay, Meloni, Ice-t, Peter Scanavino, as well as former Svu cast members Dann Florek and Dean Winters, fans speculate something big, something nostalgic, is coming. Although Reneé Rapp has been on an unofficial acting hiatus while releasing her new album Bite Me, there’s at least one role that could tempt her back to the screen.

When asked what character she’d like to play as a potential Law & Order: Special Victims Unit guest star, the multi-hyphenate would not be content with a victim or killer-of-the-week role on the 26-season NBC procedural.

Benson and Stabler are back on the Law & Order: Svu…and actors Mariska Hargitay and Christopher Meloni look to be having a great time together!

The pair were seen reuniting on the set and goofing around, holding hands and dancing while waiting on location over the weekend in New York City. Franchise veteran Dann Florek, who portrayed Captain Cragen, was also there!

If you don’t know, the pair co-starred together on the series for years, but his character exited back in season 12. He’s appeared a number of times over the years, and it appears as if he’ll be back for some sort of stint for season 27 (which kicks off this September on NBC!)

Jonathan Kaplan, the filmmaker who steered Jodie Foster to an Academy Award in 1988’s “The Accused” and later collected five Emmy nominations for directing and producing “ER,” died Friday, August 1, at his Los Angeles home after a battle with liver cancer, his daughter Molly confirmed. Born in Paris on November 25 1947, to composer Sol Kaplan and actor Frances Heflin, Kaplan studied at the University of Chicago before moving to New York University, where mentor Martin Scorsese recommended him to producer Roger Corman. Corman assigned him the drive-in hit “Night Call Nurses” (1972), launching a run that included “Truck Turner,” “White Line Fever” and the suburban-rebellion drama “Over the Edge” (1979). Friends recall him as an incisive storyteller with an instinct for urgent social themes.

His daughter Molly Kaplan said he died Friday at his home in Los Angeles of advanced liver cancer.

Kaplan was born in Paris on Nov. 25, 1947 to industry veteran parents, father Sol Kaplan, a film and TV composer, and mother Frances Heflin, a regular on ABC soap All My Children. (He was also the nephew of Oscar-winning actor Van Heflin.)

He began his career as a child actor in the Broadway production of The Dark at the Top of the Stairs, helmed by Elia Kazan. Later, Kaplan earned his bachelor’s degree at the University of Chicago and studied film at New York University, where he was taught by Martin Scorsese.

Making her television acting debut in a 2001 episode of “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit,” veteran soap star Elizabeth Hendrickson has recently taken on a different kind of role, this time working behind the scenes as a director.

Hendrickson, who currently appears in the recurring role of Chloe Mitchell on “The Young and the Restless,” announced the news in an Instagram post, saying, “After 24 years in front of the camera, I’m thrilled to be able to tell you all that I’ve stepped behind it.” She added, “I’ve spent the past 18 months up in the booth, shadowing, observing & absorbing — not knowing if it would ever turn into something more. There were hurdles but I kept showing up, paying attention, and fell in love with the process.”

“On Tuesday the 5th my first episode will air,” Hendrickson continued. “I hope you enjoy it as much as I did directing it.
