Tai Chi Devil Dragons

Despite the promising title, TAI CHI DEVIL DRAGONS is nothing more than your usual stock derivative DRUNKEN MASTER rip-off, featuring two kung fu actors in the forms of Jacky Chen and Lung Fei. The plot sees the twosome hooking up with an old drunken master (who desperately wants to be Simon Yuen) who is soon teaching them the feared Tai Chi Shadow technique, which is a lot less interesting than it sounds.

An inordinate amount of time is spent with the two men as they go through the ropes on a gruelling training regime, which would have been more fun to take part in than it is to watch. Bamboo poles are used extensively during training with lots of aerobic acrobatics while the master's beautiful daughter lights up the screen whenever she's around. Inevitably some evil bad guys soon show up and the path is set for violent revenge.

There's really nothing in TAI CHI DEVIL DRAGONS to get excited about. The two main stars go through the motions while all of the training and kung fu scenes were done better in DRUNKEN MASTER and elsewhere. The most fun actor of the lot is Kam Kong, that towering giant of kung fu cinema, but he seems a little off-form here and not as imposing as he usually appears.
