Recensioni in evidenza
This film truly is a underrated masterpiece. Here Åhlin has created a wonderful little mystery movie for all ages. This not a kids film. Kids can watch it but it's aimed at adults as much as it is for children. Sadly, animation is considered a children's medium in the west and I see no reason for it to be so. But that does not mean children won't be able to enjoy this film.
The story is simple, yet very mysterious. Sture (and the audience) has no idea what is going on. It's basically a surreal comedy. It is funny as hell. The animation is cozy, the acting is fantastic and the script is great. No less than a masterpiece and a must see.
And you got to love the fact that a film that was marketed to children takes influence from and references Kubrick's The Shining and Polanski's The Tenant.

If you want grand stories of heroism and bravery, watch Disney. If you wan't beautiful grand exotic stories of travelling and self-discovery, watch Miyazaki. But what do you watch when you wan't to see a nice, funny, cosy and nostalgic cartoon? Hundhotellet.
This movie is a classy whodunit with twists and turns. The main character is Sture, the dog. He goes for a vacation with his friend and ends up at Hotel Rosebud. There a mystic story in true Agatha Christie-style unravels.
The voice acting is wonderful. There are no kids nor any action scenes in this movie, so the shouting usually found in children's movies is nowhere to be found. Instead, we have great narrating by Hasse Alfredsson, which is about a million times better.
The other voices are nice too, all fitting their characters. The stereotype American Mr. Big is very funny, as is the nervous hotel manager.
You wear a smile all the way when watching this movie. It's the perfect movie for the entire family. A comfortable pace and wonderful characters make this movie stand out from all other children's movies today.

A smart, funny, initiative crime story, taking place on a hotel for dogs. The main character, the dog Sture, and his friend Picasso takes a trip to Paris. But, the powers of faith wants something else and steers their journey to a old dog-hotel in the countryside. The crime story starts to unravel. Meanwhile, the creator, Per Åhlin, shows his excellence of creating characters and unforgettable scenes with his magic pen.
This isn't merely a children's film. This is a cartoon masterpiece with very few competitors in terms of originality and humor. Everybody should see it.

I seen this cartoon 2 time(not all, just half part to end). although I'm not had watch it all,but I really like this cartoon! this time the cartoon-world's master is hollywood and japanese,so we know, they all look same. the hugeness scene;3d\2d technology...that's enough!but the story?fool\easy\naive... but in this cartoon, just some lovely line and a funny story, that's all, that's good. a peculiar cartoon!
Lo sapevi?
- QuizThe idea for the movie came when the director Per Åhlin one rainy night drove across a road-sign reading: Dog hotel. Upon investigation he discovered that there was no such thing and the hotel probably had been closed down. The sign is as of 2010 still standing there, it's location is some were north of Swedish town Uppsala.
