Production on the new “Masters of the Universe” movie has wrapped, and to mark the occasion, star Nicholas Galitzine (“The Idea of You”) offered up a first look at him in costume as He-Man, the most powerful man in the universe, who must battle the evil Skeletor in this adaptation of the Mattel toy franchise.

Travis Knight, the CEO of Laika and director of the animated “Kubo and the Two Strings” and 2018’s “Transformers” spinoff “Bumblebee,” directed the new “Masters of the Universe” movie from a screenplay by Chris Butler.

“Well, that’s a wrap on ‘Masters of the Universe.’ It has been an honour shouldering the responsibility of playing Adam and He Man,” Galitzine posted on Instagram. “It’s been the role of a lifetime and I put everything into it. There’s not much I can show you, but I am so proud of the movie we’ve made.

He-Man: 10 Masters Of The Universe Characters We Hope To Finally See In Live-Action
Image
Nicholas Galitzine's casting as He-Man in the upcoming Masters of the Universe movie sparks excitement for long-awaited live-action appearances by iconic characters. Fan favorites like Moss Man, Fisto, Mer-Man, and Trap Jaw could bring depth and humor to the new movie adaptation. Possibilities for characters like Faker, Scare Glow, Hordak, She-Ra, and Battle Cat could elevate the stakes and expand the He-Man universe.

There is an abundance of fantastic Masters of the Universe characters that need to finally make the jump to live action. One of the greatest and most enticing things about the original 1982 toyline was the varied selection of unique and original characters, on both the hero's and the villain's sides. While the franchise has made the jump to cartoons, comics, video games, and a single live-action film from 1987 starring Dolph Lundgren and Courteney Cox, many of the best characters have yet to appear in live-action. Luckily,...

All 6 Classic Masters Of The Universe Characters Killed Off By He-Man's New Show
Image
Kevin Smith's Masters of the Universe: Revolution takes bold risks by killing off classic He-Man characters, raising the stakes higher than ever. The series delves into new revelations, like Skeletor's backstory as Keldor and Teela's quest to restore Preternia, bringing back deceased heroes. Characters like King Randor, Granamyr, Moss Man, and potentially Beast Man meet their end, challenging the franchise's lore in surprising ways.

Throughout its brief-but-bold 5-episode run, Kevin Smith’s Masters of the Universe: Revolution kills off several classic He-Man characters. In fact, glimpses into Preternia’s cast of characters affirm that Revolution takes out even more nostalgic MotU personalities than its predecessor, the two-part Masters of the Universe: Revelation (2021). Both Revelation and Revolution serve as sequel series to He-Man and the Masters of the Universe, which ran from 1983 to '85. Although Smith’s Netflix continuation ignores the ‘90s cartoon, The New Adventures of He-Man,...

All 5 He-Man TV Shows, Ranked Worst To Best
Image
All five He-Man shows have their good and bad points, with some being more enjoyable than others. The New Adventures of He-Man is the weakest in the franchise. He-Man and the Masters of the Universe is a modern reinterpretation aimed at new audiences, so it may disappoint nostalgic adult fans. Masters of the Universe: Revelation is a brilliant series that maintains the quirks that made the original series great, but it received criticism for sidelining the main characters.

Masters of the Universe is a long-running media franchise that has spawned five animated television series. The first series aired way back in the early 1980s. More recently, two have hit the small screen in the 2020s. The animation changes, as do the voice cast and characters, but the general concept of good versus evil is always the same.

The franchise stars He-Man, a heroic warrior with unrivaled physical strength, who wields the mighty Sword of Grayskull.

Mattel Films: "Masters of The Universe"
Mattel Films, firmly taking control of their toy properties, in partnership with Columbia, will produce a new 3D, live-action feature based on "Masters of The Universe", with Art Marcum & Matt Holloway writing a new screenplay, after years of scripts and directors being rejected for not living up to the brand's billion dollar potential:

Filmation's original "He-Man: Masters Of The Universe" (1983) cartoon series, created to sell Mattel toys, was inspired by author Robert E. Howard's "Conan The Barbarian", airing 130 syndicated episodes, starring muscle-bound 'He-Man' defending 'Eternia' and the secrets of 'Castle Grayskull' from the evil forces of fan favorite 'Skeletor'.

The series was followed in 1990 by "The New Adventures of He-Man".

"...during the aftermath of a 'Great War', the 'Sorceress of Castle Grayskull', aka 'The Goddess', gave 'Prince Adam', son of planet Eternia's 'King Randor' and the earthling 'Queen Marlena', his super powers.

"Adam would hold aloft the 'Sword of Power',...

'Masters of the Universe' Eyes 'Terminator Salvation' Director
Dolph Lundgren, Robert Duncan McNeill, and Courteney Cox in I dominatori dell'universo (1987)
Sony Pictures has been developing a reboot of Masters of the Universe since 2009, when they acquired the project from Warner Bros., but over the past seven years, the project has never fully gotten off the ground. Today we have a new report from Deadline that reveals that project has been given a new lease on life, with filmmaker McG now in talks to direct. The studio hasn't set a release date at this time, and it isn't known when they are aiming to start production quite yet.

The franchise is set on the planet Eternia, following a young man named Adam who has the power to turn himself into a mighty warrior named He-Man. Adam becomes the planet's last hope to defeat the evil Skeletor, who has devastated the entire planet on his quest to conquer castle Greyskull. We last reported on this project in October when Christopher Yost signed on to write the script,...
