Netflix’s latest Brazil slate includes a series set in the world of Mma; another about the iconic Brazilian football team of the 1970s; a movie spin-off of the Sintonia series; and documentaries about soccer stars Neymar and Ronaldinho. The streamer has also greenlit its first local horror movie and first wildlife doc.
New films include an untitled drama about the Elize Matsunaga case, in which Matsunaga killed and dismembered her husband—a case that was previously the subject of Netflix’s 2021 docuseries Elize Matsunaga: Once Upon a Crime. Netflix has also greenlit Fazenda Colonial, a Brazilian horror movie that follows a group of friends on an ill-fated trip to an old farm.
Teen crime drama Sintonia ran to five seasons and Netflix said its film spin-off will continue the story. The series has been the biggest franchise on Netflix’s Brazilian service.

Topher Grace has been praised by The Waterfront's creator for his commitment and performance in the upcoming Netflix series. Inspired by true events, The Waterfront depicts the struggling Buckley family running a fishing business in North Carolina. They have to resort to risky and drastic measures to keep their lives and empire afloat. The first images from The Waterfront have already been released, showing Mindhunter's Holt McCallany and Supergirl'sMelissa Benoist in their roles. Grace plays Grady, a shady man with a criminal past who offers the Buckleys a lifeline.
New images released from the series by Entertainment Weekly show Grace in his role for the first time:
In the same article, the series' creator, Kevin Williamson, describes Grady as "a very broken, unhinged man." Williamson also reveals that he wrote the role specifically for Grace and praises the actor for his work:
He brings sort of an unexpectedness to the role.

If your signals somehow got crossed and you were hoping that Netflix's The Waterfront would be a peaceful comfort show set on an idyllic locale like Virgin River, then the newly released trailer certainly uncrossed those wires. From the looks of the trailer, the series looks to be the gritty, addictive drama series that we will all be hooked on this summer.
Netflix finally dropped the official trailer on May 22, about one month ahead of the show's premiere on Thursday, June 19. The Waterfront centers on the Buckley family, whose fishing empire in North Carolina has been experiencing some downswings as patriarch Harlan (Holt McCallany) takes a step back. Before long, the family finds themselves in over their heads with drug kingpins.

If you take the time to examine every movie from "Anchorman" director Adam McKay, you'll eventually find provocative, self-serious satires of male-driven problems of power in our world, including "The Big Short" and "Vice." But years before this purposeful filmmaking shift, McKay left it all out on the field, saying everything he needed to say on the subject in the guise of a stupid, absurd, and improv-heavy buddy comedy starring Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly.
2008's "Step Brothers" is an immediate lightning bolt of laughter. It's bold, vulgar, and always chasing the most specific choice possible. It's a comedy for contemporary comedy nerds' dreams, playing with beloved concepts of sketch and improv to heighten games in ways never quite seen in studio cinema before. It's a constant barrage of body blows toward a post-George W. Bush world, reckoning with the soothsaying horrors of pre-recession capitalism and toxic masculinity...

Joe Rogan has called out some of Diddy’s old friends for their silence over Diddy’s parties. He particularly mentioned Ashton Kutcher and LeBron James, who have openly talked about attending Diddy’s parties. However, there is no proof that both of these celebrities attended any freak-off sessions with Diddy.
Diddy is facing five counts of serious charges, including one count of racketeering conspiracy, two counts of s*x trafficking, and two counts of transportation to engage in pr*stitution. If charged, the hip-hop mogul is looking at life in prison.

Paul Verhoeven’s 1987 classic is an unquestionable pillar of the film industry. Few movies have ever stomped so freely between genres and tones like RoboCop does. Picking up a bevy of blood on its mechanical boots along the way. You won’t find many, if any, films in history that can simultaneously sell toys like hotcakes, critique corporate greed, and feature a bad guy getting shot in the junk. Even the B-movie moments feel like spectacle, fueled by a brazen disrespect for the status quo, we just can’t get enough of. Kinda sounds like we’re talking about a punk rock horror movie. In some ways… we are. RoboCop’s journey has been documented six ways from Sunday. Including the impressively in-depth, four-hour-and-then-some 2023 documentary RoboDoc: The Creation of RoboCop. Today, we’re going to look at the classic under a bloodier lens. And answer the question: does Robo really want an Oreo?...

The perils and plights of adolescence have long been a source of fascination for television audiences. That’s particularly apparent nowadays with Netflix, HBO, Hulu, Showtime, FX, and others vying for zeitgeist dominance with teen-focused dramas playing to a variety of creative strengths. As narratives have gotten more sophisticated overall across the TV landscape, it makes sense that the ways in which we look at stories about young people have also evolved. From “Never Have I Ever” to “Yellowjackets,” TV teens in 2023 are among some of the most rich ever written.

Before she stole hearts as Jackie Burkhart on That ’70s Show, Mila Kunis had a rough brush with early TV fame, and mind you, it wasn’t pretty. She apparently landed a role in a short-lived series that seemed promising on paper but crashed hard behind the scenes.
Kunis faced some sneaky sabotage that could’ve easily crushed a young actor’s confidence. However, instead of folding, she powered through, and the rest, as we know, is iconic sitcom history. Here’s how that weird detour nearly threw off her rise.

Bad Moms proved that sometimes the perfect casting choice comes from unexpected turns. That’s exactly what happened with Mila Kunis after actress Zoe Saldana said no to the project that ultimately went to her. Fans might’ve seen a very different version of the movie if the MCU actress hadn’t skipped it. But luckily for us, the Friends with Benefits actress stepped in at the right time and completely owned the part.
Her portrayal of the tired, overworked mom who’s just trying to be perfect felt so real, it instantly clicked with the audience. Let’s dive deeper to know exactly how she landed the role and why Zaldana had to say no to the project.

You never know who might pop up in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. That's one of the beauties of a shared universe, as it means that plenty of beloved characters can surface - or resurface - at any point in time in any project at all. And the MCU is particularly effective at that.
Remember how Chris Evans popped in for an unexpected Thor: The Dark World cameo (albeit as Loki in disguise)? What about how Robert Downey Jr.'s Tony Stark and Gwyneth Paltrow's Pepper Potts showed up in Spider-Man: Homecoming? Surely, we can't forget about Benedict Cumberbatch's comic-accurate Doctor Strange cameo in Thor: Ragnarok.
Cameos and returns are some of the best things about the MCU movies and TV shows, and now Marvel Studios looks to make that magic happen all over again with a truly unexpected cameo.

“Mike Schur, who wrote for SNL and The Office before creating Parks and Rec and many other TV shows, told me something eye-opening,” Pablo Torre said this week on his Pablo Torre Finds Out podcast. “Mike told me that out of all of the SNL auditions he has ever seen — all of which happen to occur in front of the show’s creator Lorne Michaels — nobody has ever made him laugh harder than Will Forte.”
Forte almost avoided the audition altogether, the comic revealed this week on Torre’s show. He was a writer on That ‘70s Show, which had just been picked up for two more seasons. Forte had never enjoyed that kind of job security — plus, he was terrified to try out for SNL. But Michaels talked him into auditioning, with the support of his sitcom bosses.
Much of the material in Forte’s try-out eventually made it into SNL sketches.

Ashton Kutcher’s Chilling Story Of Escaping A Serial Killer (Photo Credit – Netflix)
Ashton Kutcher’s statement during the hearing of alleged repeat murderer Michael Gargiulo made headlines across Tinseltown in 2019. The performer, most recognized for his performances in That ’70s Show and Two and a Half Men, landed in the witness stand, recalling a haunting memory from 2001.
At that time, the U.S. entertainer had planned an outing with Ashley Ellerin, a 22-year-old style scholar. He showed up at her Hollywood bungalow to pick her up, but things quickly went sideways. According to Fox 11, he showed up tardy, roughly at 10:30 p.m., after attempting (and not succeeding) to contact Ellerin via telephone. The lamps were illuminated within her residence, yet nobody responded to the entrance.
He peeked through another window and saw what he “thought was a red wine spilled on the carpet”—an odd, but harmless sight.

Over the past few years, Netflix has proven to be one of the most dominating forces in the global entertainment industry. Not only has it become a platform catering to fans’ demands of watching theatrical releases so they do not have to buy DVDs and Blu-rays for the same, but it has also been delivering original content that fits fans’ expectations of what they want to see.
In fact, considering how tremendously the said platform is growing and has become the leading streaming platform worldwide today, it doesn’t seem like it will be stopping anytime soon from taking over the entirety of Hollywood. And now even co-ceo Ted Sarandos is claiming the streamer will save Hollywood after movie theatres die, since it listens to its consumers.

Trigger Warning: This post contains mentions of r*pe and s*xual abuse.
Mila Kunis and Ashton Kutcher went from being Hollywood’s hot property to a bunch of has-beens faster than you can say “That ’70s Show reunion.” Fame? Fleeting. Relevance? Slipping. And the plot twist? It was all self-written.
Once riding high on red carpets and rom-com royalty, Kunis and Kutcher, who met on the set of the cult classic sitcom that ran from 1998 to 2006, had it all: charm, chemistry, and a public that adored them. But that glossy reputation took a nosedive last September when they made what can only be described as a career-ending cameo in one of the year’s biggest scandals.
Their letters to the judge in defense of Danny Masterson, convicted of rape, didn’t just spark outrage—it torched their public image. Cue the cancel credits. The backlash was swift, brutal, and deeply personal.

Portraying multiple characters and immersing themselves in their personalities can leave a lasting impact on actors. However, few might have responded as uniquely as Topher Grace did when he felt depressed after his role in Spike Lee’s 2018 biographical crime comedy-drama, BlacKkKlansman.

Twenty years ago, the comedy world was stunned by the death of beloved performer Mitch Hedberg, who was still on the rise not long after having released what would become his best-selling album.
Known for his absurdist, one-liner-style delivery, Hedberg was revered by fans and fellow comics alike. He made 10 appearances on The Late Show With David Letterman and has three stand-up albums, including Mitch All Together, released in December 2003 and certified gold in 2021. Hedberg, who had been dubbed “the next [Jerry] Seinfeld” by Time magazine, was found dead from a drug overdose at age 37 on March 30, 2005.
But his unique perspective has continued to bring joy to fans new and old, and Emmy-nominated filmmaker Jeff Siegel (Billy Joel: The 100th) is currently working to celebrate Hedberg’s legacy with a feature documentary. The movie, which does not yet have an announced title or release date, has wrapped principal photography and will include archival footage,...

Netflix will shoot a pilot for A Different World, a sequel to the 1987 sitcom, which will chronicle Dwayne and Whitley’s daughter’s time at an Hbcu. As Deadline reported exclusively in August, the project had been in development at the streamer since last year, and the commissioning of the pilot is part of that process. A rep for Netflix declined comment.
This is the second known pilot pickup at Netflix, whose business is built on straight-to-series orders. In 2023, the streamer ordered another comedy, the single-camera Little Sky, to pilot, whose production was impacted by the WGA strike. It ultimately didn’t go to series.
Like was the case with Little Sky, the Different World pilot is a one-off and not part of a strategy shift, sources said. The pilot model in general is more often employed in comedy as a proof of concept for tone, chemistry among the ensemble cast,...

The Only Thing That’s Stopping Ashton Kutcher From Leaving Hollywood to Escape the P Diddy Aftermath
Regarded as one of the most admired couples in the industry, Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis are an example of the idea that if it’s meant to be yours, it’ll come back to you. The couple met on the sets of That ‘70s Show and very quickly became a fan-favorite pair on-screen as Jackie Burkhart and Michael Kelso. They reunited in 2012 at the Golden Globe Awards, and in 2015, they tied the knot in a private ceremony.
Kutcher and Kunis are reportedly very private people, but on several occasions, they have stepped out in front of the camera and let the world know that the spark is still there. The two were recently spotted in Rome with their kids, but their Roman holiday reignited the rumors of them wanting to relocate and raise kids in a more normal setting rather than in the middle of glitz and glam.

Plenty of sitcoms jump the shark. Sometimes the cast loses a key character or the writers run out of ideas. But perhaps the most frustrating foil is when a sitcom is solid all the way through only to shit the bed for its final season, tarnishing its legacy for all time.
If only these five shows had gotten out a year earlier, we could binge rewatch them without that looming sense of dread.
1 Roseanne
Roseanne is probably the most famous example of this, as the final season undermined the basic premise of the show. The whole idea behind Roseanne was that it was a show about a struggling blue-collar family in the Midwest and its best episodes often dealt with the Conners’ money troubles. So, in the final season, what do they do? The Conners win the lottery, eliminating their relatability.

Acting hasn’t been the lone forte for Canadian-born actress Jasmine Mooney, who starred as Jackie in American Pie: The Book of Love. When sitcoms keep bringing in consistent ratings, especially an era-defining example like "Happy Days," it's almost impossible for a network executive to fully give it up. The comedy series ran from 1974 to 1984 over 11 seasons, culminating in an impressive 255 episode run. One of the issues that comes with a show that stays on the air for that long, however, is its inevitable fatigue. After Henry Winkler's big water stunt in the show's fifth season, the phrase "jumping the shark" became an integral part of the cultural lexicon to describe a show that's approached the ceiling on its creative output. But it's not always the audience that loses interest in a show's viability.

Days of Our Lives fans know there has been some of the behind-the-scenes tragedies that affected actors on the NBC soap, from Tyler Christopher (former Stefan Dimera) to Suzanne Rogers (Maggie Horton Kiriakis), Linsey Godfrey (Sarah Horton), Drake Hogestyn (John Black), and more.
Francisco San Martin’s Tragic Passing: A Days of Our Lives Alum
Francisco San Martin played Dario Hernandez on Days of Our Lives. If you don’t remember, that was Gabi Hernandez‘s (Cherie Jimenez) brother. Francisco San Martin originated the role in 2011.
And it was later taken over by Jordi Vilasuso. After Francisco’s stint on Days of Our Lives, he got a gig on The Bold and the Beautiful. And then he got to be on the hit Prime Time series Jane the Virgin.
That was a very good show, but then, out of nowhere, on January 16th, 2025, tragedy struck, and the ex-Dario actor took his own life.

Much like any other era, 2000s sitcoms have their own set of favorite tropes. In this decade, sitcoms illustrated a different type of conventional family, one that relied on both adults to work. It also saw more and more sitcoms focused on a friend group, following the great success of Friends (which lasted so long that it is also kind of a 2000s sitcom). Some of these tropes have become trite, boring, or politically incorrect, while others continue to thrive on current comedy series.
Either way, some 2000s sitcom tropes, while hilarious and accepted by viewers, are truly weird. For example, all families have a ridiculous dad and a tired mom. What's more, characters always have a great house, a decent car, and a good lifestyle, even if they don't have a job. Of course, sitcoms often exaggerate or take shortcuts to make the series feel as good as possible,...

Perfect sitcom scenes are hard to find, but not impossible. In fact, there are some sitcom moments that have lived for decades in the audience's mind. While some comedy shows age poorly, others manage to stay ahead of their time and only become better as they get older.
Classics like the Dick Van Dyke Show are as hilarious today as they were the moment they aired. However, newer sitcoms like The Office are also known for their outstanding and quotable scenes. Whether people grew up watching these shows or have access to them now on streaming services, these sitcom scenes are amazing because of their great humor and clever narrative that doesn't rely on poor taste or offensive jokes.

Given the light-hearted and formulaic approach of several sitcoms, actors associated with this medium can often struggle to transition into more dramatic roles. Although the notion of TV being a lesser art form than films and theatre has softened in recent years, thanks to the rise of prestige TV, this wasn’t exactly the case when Topher Grace opted to shift to the stage.

A fun thing about old sitcoms is that you'll often watch it and casually stumble across an actor who's now probably too famous to play such a minor role. Long before he played the Dean on "Community," for instance, Jim Rash was freaking out about a plane's "left phalange" in the "Friends" finale. Before Joseph Gordon-Levitt became a major movie star in the late 2000s, he was on "That '70s Show" making the moves on Eric Foreman. If you're looking for the movie stars of tomorrow, you should first look at the minor sitcom roles of today.
"Seinfeld" was no exception. Jerry, Elaine and George were always dating someone new, which means there was a revolving door of guest stars who'd later become some of the most famous people on TV. Sitcoms love to pull off a retcon. When it comes to maintaining TV continuity, the only guardrails in place are the limits of audiences' disbelief, and plenty of hit shows have taken advantage of our bad memories and willingness to forgive plot holes in order to tweak and even totally reimagine their worlds. Retconning, the act of creating "retroactive continuity" changes, has been used in countless TV comedies over the years, from "Roseanne" to "Friends" to "That '70s Show." With its seventh season, "Young Sheldon" entered the retcon game in a big way, reframing a cynical rule from "The Big Bang Theory" as a funny and tragic misunderstanding.

That ’70s Show was all bell-bottoms and basement hangouts, until the writers pulled the ultimate plot twist: wrecking Jackie’s healthiest relationship. Sure, her chaotic rollercoaster with Kelso brought the laughs, but Hyde? He was the peanut butter to her diva-flavored jelly. They clashed, balanced, and weirdly worked. But nope, the writers hit the self-destruct button and left fans stuck in a “what-if” loop.

The Fox teen sitcom – starring Topher Grace, Mila Kunis, Ashton Kutcher, Danny Masterson, Laura Prepon, Wilmer Valderrama, Debra Jo Rupp, Kurtwood Smith, Don Stark, Tommy Chong, Josh Meyers, Tanya Roberts, and Lisa Robin Kelly – premiered on August 23, 1998 and ran for eight seasons before ending on May 18, 2006.

Valentine’s Day is a holiday that inspires strong opinions, but few have been as candid as Ashton Kutcher about their dislike for the day of love. The actor, known for his witty humor and laid-back attitude, had revealed his strong feelings towards the day in an old interview. Kutcher’s aversion to Valentine’s Day is likely to amuse his wife, Mila Kunis, who has a more relaxed approach to the occasion.

Today, Spider-Man 3 is remembered as a by-product of one of the greatest memes in pop culture history whereas for one of its leading stars, Topher Grace, the film is one of the greatest Spider-Man movies ever made. Sam Raimi’s final entry in his iconic trilogy did not stand the test of time but the same sentiment does not echo with the film’s leading antagonist.

Spider-Man 3 made Topher Grace stand out, becoming his first big movie role where he was offered a leading part as much as the first Spider-Man elevated Tobey Maguire in the industry.
