While It's Flawed as heck, It's more faithful to Mega Man than the 2018 show.

Yes it's a departure from the Mega Man games. This was made in the early 90s around the Mega Man 4/5 development and release. Which meant that probably they had up to 3 as official reference and maybe some tidbits from 4 and 5. Back then the story was literally: Wily made 8 robot masters, go and defeat them, Mega Man. It also suffered from Westernization like Silly plots , incredibly awkward deviations from the source material and yes, they oversimplified Mega Man's Copy ability. But compared to OTHER VIDEOGAME CARTOONS OF THE ERA like Darkstalkers, Street Fighter, Mortal Kombat: Defenders of the Realm, Double Dragon, to name a few; Mega Man WAS THE MOST FAITHFUL ONE OF ALL. Corny, but it still kept close enough to the source material that it still FEELS like in this case, Mega Man.

Also, to the fool, who said that they hired unprofessional voice actors, check WHO DOES VOICES HERE AND THEIR Careers... Ian James Corlett, Scott McNeill, Terry Klassen, Cary Chalk (who also works on the new Mega Man... Whoops!) Most of the cast are VETERAN Voice Actors. People who had 20 years in the business BEFORE doing Mega Man ARE NOT UNPROFESSIONAL.

It's not perfect, but it's WAY Better than the 2018 one.

A classic cartoon based on the hit game series.

Ok, unlike some of the game purists who have left negative comments I'm going the other way and I'm glad to see that some people spoke of some of the good points of the show. Mega Man was a fun and entertaining cartoon. Sure it pulled away from the game quite a bit, but why not? It's a cartoon and I think it would've been pretty boring to have Mega fighting through setups like the game levels just to scrap a boss bot that went through predictable patterns.

People complain about Protoman being a villain? Why is Mega's brother a villain? they cry. But in the Mega Man 3 VG, unless you read a game guide, you wouldn't know Proto is a good guy as you have to fight him in several stages to continue. I like that the cartoon creators used this aspect of Proto for the cartoon. Can you imagine how lop-sided thing would've been if Protoman had been a good guy the whole time?

It'd be so boring! Wily's bots wouldn't last a minute against Mega and Proto. And it's not like people who've watched the series don't know it since Proto and Mega have teamed up. Mega can already total any of Wily's bots, so having Proto on Wily's side brings a balance of power that was needed.

As for Bots with muscles. It's a cartoon people, who really cares? Does anyone complain about the new Batman movies with his muscle-molded suit? I think not. Besides, who's to say that the titanium skin of those bots with muscles weren't simply molded to look like they had muscles?

Roll, ok so Mega's little sis wants to help him out instead of just being a house cleaning robot. I'm surprised she hasn't had an active role in any of the Mega Man games yet. I mean where you can actually play as her. I think it could draw in some more female players. Again, I can't understand why people gripe about it. It's not like she gets any super weapons or anything. She just tweaked some of her housecleaning attachments to be like 10x more powerful than usual. If you think about it for a minute I'm sure you'll see the other aspects of having Roll very much involved in the series too.

Funny, with all the things people've complained about, I'm surprised they didn't mention Rush, or how he has more transformations in the cartoon than in any of the games, including some very strange ones. It seems that they'd have jumped all over it they way they've jumped over all the other things that weren't like the games. But, this wasn't the game and you have to give the cartoonists some artistic license so they have the freedom to make a good show.

I liked the animation, it was almost always pretty seamless, and there were plenty of plots that were pretty way out there. Like the Curse of the Lion people, or the teleport pods that switched Mega Man and Snake Man's bodies, or the Incredible Shrinking Mega Man. All not very likely, but still they made for some interesting stories. And when all's said and done, interesting and entertaining stories are key to keeping a series alive. The art and animation were also crisp and clean as well as being well drawn so as to be pleasing to the eye. Which for any animation is key, in some cases even moreso as the quality of the stories is bound to change from episode to episode, but the art in this series was really quite constant. It was really refreshing to watch it while there were such an abundance of low quality cartoons on at the time.

My only real complaint about the series was that the opening theme, while it looked good, I would've liked to hear a little more than, "Super fighting robot... Mega Man!", though the last line helped. "Fighting, to save.... the world!(insert echo)"

This series obviously had some fan appeal since it lasted for so many episodes. Some series like the Legend of Zelda never made it past the initial 13, and The Raccoons only made through about 3 or 4 eps before they were canceled.

I'd rate this series an 9 out of 10. Sure it could've been better, but in my opinion it was far and away from being worse.

    UGH!!!

This is the worst videogame show ever! The cartoon didn't do anything right like the game. Mega Man and robots have muscles and they don't look like robots, not like the game. Roll suppose to be a housekeeper, not a sidekick of Mega Man! Dr. Light doesn't look smart. Protoman is not suppose to be bad, it seems like he wants to be on his own. Dr. Wily looks absolutely UGLY! If you watch the first episode, you will laugh what Mega Man is saying when Dr. Light created him! Don't watch this WASTE-OF-TIME show, play the game instead.

From a nostalgic point of view.

I remember this show in a fair bit of detail. The voices, the episodes, the things that were different from the game, the fact that I woke up at 6am to watch it.

It's a departure from the plot of the games, but so what? Until Forte/Bass or the X games came along there was hardly a real plot to Megaman. Imagine for a second what kind of cartoon it would have made

"Wily has made 8 robots again! I better stop him by going though various stages and fight all 8 robots!" Not going to work.

I can see why Protoman was made a villain. The role suits him decently and it's not like he was a total villain (some episodes you could see him inching closer to the good guys). It may not be the Protoman(or Blues if you will) we all knew and loved, but it was still a good character. (Now if Forte/Bass was in the picture that psychopath would have probably taken Protoman's place, but sadly this was before his time)

While there was little in the way of a real plot the individual episodes were pretty entertaining to me when I was 11. I saw the differences from the game but I still enjoyed it. I almost burst into tears of happiness when they finally had X and Sigma on the series (even if Sigma was only on a screen for 10 seconds).

The voice acting was decent and I have trouble picturing Megaman with any other voice, same goes for X (in X4 and X7 X's voices seem so very wrong to me). It's not like we all haven't heard the exact same voices from the same voice actors before but they worked and worked consistently.

The animation was really very good as best as I can remember. I actually prefer the style of it to the anime style of the Megaman EXE series (and it's rare that I prefer american animation over anime style). It just seems to fit the overall theme of Megaman well.

It wasn't a perfect cartoon by any means...but it did manage to wake me up at 6am and it's only one of 2 things in my life that has ever managed to do that.

Don't even bother with this show.

This show isn't even true to the Mega Man games one bit. First off, since when did Mega Man, and all the bad robots have muscles?! THEY'RE ROBOTS! Robot's are not supposed to have muscles! Roll is supposed to be a house cleaning robot not the blue bomber's side kick, and why is Protoman a bad guy? He's a good guy in the video games, so why is he a bad guy in the series? Apparently the people who made this show did not put much care into this series when they should have made it look like the games. In order to follow the games, lose all the stuff I mentioned above.

This show just needed redoing a LOT of redoing.

When the episodes first aired, the Summit Media Group logo that appeared at the end of the credits was against a plain, off-white background. The repeats that aired some years later used a more elaborate, blue-background logo. When released on DVD, they went back to using the original off-white background logo.
