If you want to be one of the first to hear brand new music from the world’s hottest DJs, you go to Ultra Music Festival. Each and every year, artists bring their latest and greatest to the fest and premiere tracks that have never been heard before.
This year was no different, especially in the case of superstar Martin Garrix, who brought with him no less than 10 brand new songs. It’s a risky move bringing that much new music to a festival set, especially when so many of the tracks sounded quite different than what we’re used to from the Dutch producer, but Garrix pulled it off with aplomb.
In what was a historic set for Ultra, given that the producer is the youngest person ever to close the main stage on opening night, Garrix unleashed an arsenal of new music, all of it showcasing a unique...

Right now the Edm world is running rampant with remixes, reworks, re-edits and other words starting in “re” from Avicii’s new album, Stories – but Olwik‘s remix of “Waiting for Love” makes for stiff competition. This is the first piece of new music we’ve heard from the Swedish DJ/producer in months, and once again, it’s got us wondering why he hasn’t delivered more this festival season.
By providing a unique yet functional reimagining of Avicii’s original, Olwik’s “Waiting for Love” remix highlights what was so underwhelming about the bulk of Avicii’s new album. Where the original sounded like anybody could have been responsible for it, the remix has a distinctly Olwik sound; decidedly progressive house synths plug the holes in an otherwise unorthodox instrumental framework, whose brooding tone benefits from the tasteful incorporation of downtempo elements. Like any memorable music, it sounds...

As a vehicle for a dozen or so singers from various musical walks to broaden their audience on an international scale, Avicii‘s Stories is a glowing success. As a cohesive album that serves to reinforce his emerging identity as an artist, though, it’s a bit of a failure.
On 2013’s True, Avicii had already laid the foundation for the pop and folk-infused brand of main stage Edm that had become his trademark sound. Songs like “Wake Me Up” and “Hey Brother” blended crisp hoover synths with rich instrumentals and vocals, resulting in a fusion with such mass appeal that it made the former track the most played video on YouTube in 2014.
Love it or hate it, you can’t deny that Avicii’s sound was instrumental to Edm reaching mainstream audiences. However, Stories doesn’t even boast such a stylistic balance. In this album, Avicii has all but...

After suffering a couple unexpected setbacks, Avicii‘s Stories is finally on its way. The producer’s highly anticipated sophomore album has been scheduled for an October 2nd release, and the news comes along with two new singles, “Pure Grinding” and “For A Better Day.”
The first track, “For A Better Day,” centers on a jive piano climbing around the vocal talent of Alex Ebert. The second, “Pure Grinding” with Kristoffer Fogelmark & Earl St. Clair, depicts a surprisingly different side of Avicii, implementing a more trap influenced structure than anything we’ve seen before.
Avicii says of the album:
“[It] refines what I didn’t feel was perfect last time. I think there are more layers to the songs than before, and every song has been written on acoustic guitar, so the structure is different.”
Apparently there were numerous records that didn’t make it onto the album, teasing the potential...

Avicii is currently gearing up to release his highly-anticipated sophomore album, Stories, and today, he dropped a few details on it, including a release date and when you’ll be able to place your pre-order.
Firstly, the disc will drop on September 25th, but pre-orders will open up on August 28th. Furthermore, on that same day two new singles will be available to download: “For A Better Day” and “Pure Grinding.” The former is being described as a “lush, uplifting contemporary ballad,” with the latter being called a “rhythmic collision of hip/hop, soul, and cinematic sounds in an electronic atmosphere.”
There’s no word on an official tracklist just yet, but it’s probably safe to assume that most of the Swedish producer’s new songs that he’s been playing out during festival season will make it onto the album, including but not limited to “Waiting For Love,...

Everybody’s got one or two songs that remind them of a festival they’ve been to, and apparently so does Shazam. The music identification app aggregated the numbers of Shazams of different tracks at Boom, Belgium festival Tomorrowland last weekend – as it does at countless others – and even though much of the results were to be expected, there were still a few surprises.
Major Lazer and DJ Snake’s “Lean On” featuring MØ unsurprisingly took the #1 spot. Tracks like DJ Snake and AlunaGeorge’s “You Know You Like It” and Jack Ü and Justin Bieber’s “Where Are Ü Now” gave the Major Lazer/Owsla bass music cool kid club further representation, while tracks by Avicii, Kygo, Robin Shulz and Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike rounded out the housier end of the spectrum. All of this begs the question, who even needs to Shazam these songs nowadays?

It’s already been a couple months since Avicii and Martin Garrix officially released their collaboration “Waiting for Love,” meaning that the progressive house anthem has had some time to bounce around the festival circuit and amass its fair share of unique edits and reworks. Avicii’s camp has been sifting through them during this period of time, and have delivered a pack of official remixes that showcase some of the more celebrated versions of his original.
In all honesty, though, there’s not a lot going on in these remixes. Autograf and Tundran contributed a couple entirely interchangeable ones, and Sam Feldt’s wasn’t a great deal more memorable. Carnage and Headhunterz teamed up on a festival trap remix that, while certainly different than the original, comes off tragically passé in its execution. The real gem of the bunch is Marshmello’s future bass rendition, which further bolsters...

Avicii‘s made quite the comeback this festival season after his health issues forced him to take a step away from touring last year, and his latest tracks prove that he hasn’t lost his touch in the studio, either. He’s followed up his recent Martin Garrix collaboration, “Waiting For Love,” by debuting another folk-tinged hit in the form of “Broken Arrows (Hope In Your Heart),” a song certain to gain traction in the months to follow.
A radio-friendly vocal leads into thumping drum kicks, all of which build to a folksy melody erupting into a synth-driven crescendo of main stage-igniting energy. Seeing as how it features many of the same elements as Avicii’s incredibly successful 2013 hit “Wake Me Up,” it would appear as though the young DJ/producer has struck gold and found a distinct sound that works for him as an artist in the years since his debut hit,...

YouTube introduced support for 360-degree videos back in March 2015. Now, Google’s online video site will allow 360 video viewing on the Google Cardboard virtual reality set, as well as on some Apple devices for the first time ever.
At the Google I/O event in San Francisco, YouTube announced the 360 video support for Cardboard, and said the videos would soon also be viewable on all devices running Apple’s iOS 8.0 operating system. YouTube already allows 360-degree playback on its Android app, as well as via Google’s Chrome internet browser.
In addition to added 360 video support, YouTube will help creators make videos using this immersive filming format. All six YouTube Spaces located in Los Angeles, London, Tokyo, New York, Berlin, and Sao Paulo now offer the Jump capture rig, a circular device with 16 camera slots which allows creators to shoot and compile 3D videos.

After first premiering the track back at Ultra Music Festival, Avicii has now officially released “Waiting For Love” on iTunes. The upbeat tune features Simon Aldred on vocals and will be making an appearance on the Swedish producer’s upcoming album, Stories.
Boasting a catchy, piano driven melody, the progressive anthem sounds pretty similar to a lot of what we heard on True, what with its catchy riffs and infectious chords. It’s a bit more chilled out than a lot of Tim’s other work, but it’s still a well produced track and with its pop-friendly vibe, it should have no trouble finding success both on the radio and on the festival circuit.
Take a listen to “Waiting For Love” above and then head on down to the comments and share your thoughts on Avicii‘s latest track with us.

Without a doubt, one of the best sets at Ultra Music Festival this weekend came to us courtesy of Martin Garrix. Aside from bringing out Usher on stage with him for their new song “Don’t Look Down” (which you can watch in the video below), the young Edm superstar premiered some huge new music, including collaborations with Avicii and Ed Sheeran.
First up is the Avicii song, which is titled “Waiting For Love” and can be heard in the embed above. Radio friendly and a bit more scaled back than Martin’s typical main stage bangers, the track is covered in Tim’s signature sound, playing like something you’d find on True. Rumors point to John Legend on vocals, but so far, that’s unconfirmed.
When we asked Martin if the song would be appearing on his album, he told us that he wasn’t sure yet, as...
