The small town of Saint-Fargès (Var,south of France)) prides itself on having been the birthplace of two celebrities: singer Clara Sergy and explorer Gérard de la Béchardière. Both have returned to their native land. Gérard is commissioned by the director of "L'Echo de Saint-Fargès" to interview Clara, who is scheduled to sing and dance at the cabaret "Les Tropiques." But Gérard is newly married and doesn't want his wife to know he's seeing the singer. Robert, one of his friends, introduces him to Clara. He tracks down and pursues Clara, who, quite unbeknownst to her, is involved in a drug trafficking affair.
André Roy only made 3 movies and, when you watch "la blonde des tropiques ",it's sure easy to see why : the French cinema hits rock bottom here; the screenplay is inept, all the actors ,left to their own devices, ham it up along the way, the gags are heavy-handed .The eponymous song "la blonde des tropiques" a limp bossa nova,is heard twice in a cabaret ,for the heroine is a singer .Avoid.
