Courting Doesn't Go To Plan

Young Tito and his burro go to his lady love's hacienda to serenade her and to persuade her to elope with him. She is agreeable, but her father, and other impediments get in his way.

Although credited to Bob Wickesham, it seems the actual director was Frank Tashlin during the brief period when Columbia put him in charge of their cartoons. This division had been in disarray for some years, since the illness and death of their previous producer, Charles Mintz. Tashlin didn't last long, although he did produce one outright classic (THE FOX AND THE GRAPES) and several good cartoons before he fled back to Termite Terrace for a few years.

Tito apparently was a popular character in the comic books licensed by Columbia.
