Asino che legge

I saw this short at Clermont-Ferrand shorts festival in 1998. It describes a world in which the books are considered as hard drugs. The story of the main character is the description of his addiction. The first books when he was a child, hidden under his bed... Then his parents discover his weakness and try to help him.

Filmed like a "normal" society document, we see interview of people who help teenagers not taking drugs. For example this priest who organizes "moped afternoons" with the teenagers : they don't do anything, just staying near the buildings !!! To prevent them from reading books...

At the end, the principal character is rushed to the hospital because of a "book overdose" ; in fact, he was just starting reading "A la recherche du temps perdu" by Proust...

The short is dedicated to every people who loves books (and I am !)
