Russian Roulette

Shot on film, Jean-Pierre Ferrand's "Russian Roulette" plays like a real action/suspense movie, but with concise hardcore sex scenes included. Other than a rather silly ending in which the title "game" is played, it's successful as crossover entertainment.

The large cast of principal characters is involved in the good guys, cops Victoria Paris and Nick East, going after the bad guys led by Dick Nasty, a drug smuggler who overreaches by teaming up with Russian criminals for a $50,000,000 score in smuggled weapons-grade uranium.

Also deeply involved is Houston, a femme pilot working for Nasty who teams up with her mechanic Alec Metro for their own attempted big score. Nearly the whole cast assembles for the finale (after all the sex scenes have been shown), with a KGB villainess played by Valeria (with a bad accent) questions everybody while forcing them to play Russian roulette. Brief comedy relief is generated by corrupt district attorney Mike Horner ludicrously showing up dressed as a ninja to try and save the day.

With its solid production values and fairly interesting story, this feature qualifies as a nice try to get out of the porno rut by offering more than just sex.
