“Star Trek: Discovery” is being beamed into CBS’ fall broadcast lineup. The sci-fi series, which is currently only available on the CBS All Access streaming service, will air its full first season on CBS starting September 24.

CBS, which unveiled a revised fall broadcast lineup Wednesday, billed the impending rollout of “Star Trek: Discovery” Season 1 as a promotional run to lead into the show’s third season, which will launch October 15 exclusively on CBS All Access. Network executives followed a similar maneuver when “Star Trek: Discovery” first premiered: airing the pilot episode on CBS as a way to funnel prospective viewers to the company’s new streaming service.

This decision is likely motivated by other needs. The news that “Star Trek: Discovery” will run on broadcast is likely part of CBS’ efforts to fill a broadcast lineup that has been impacted by the coronavirus pandemic, which halted production on numerous shows...

The business-as-usual CBS fall schedule is starting to look a lot less likely.

The broadcast network has announced CBS All Access original Star Trek and Pop TV original One Day at a Time will both be used to give the network time until originals return to the air.

“This is hardly a traditional fall season, but we are prepared with a strong slate of original content while our regular scripted series begin production,” said Kelly Kahl, President, CBS Entertainment.

“Based on our current timeline, we hope to start rolling out our previously announced fall series as they become available in November.”

The upcoming broadcasts from CBS News include: television’s #1 news program, 60 Minutes, premiering Sunday, Sept. 20*; a special edition of 48 Hours: Suspicion on Wednesdays beginning Sept. 9; the return of 48 Hours’ Saturday edition on Sept. 12; and the launch of the new six-part series The FBI Declassified on Tuesday, Oct. 13.

“This is hardly a traditional fall season, but we are prepared with a strong slate of original content while our regular scripted series begin production,” CBS Entertainment chief Kelly Kahl said in a statement. “[W]e hope to start rolling out our previously announced fall series as they become available in November.”

While it waits for its primetime scripted series to get back into production, CBS is reaching into its ViacomCBS catalog to help fill out its fall lineup in September and October.

CBS will air the first season of CBS All Access’ “Star Trek: Discovery,” the recently-completed fourth season of Pop’s “One Day at a Time” and Spectrum Originals’ “Manhunt: Deadly Game.” Summer reality series “Big Brother” and “Love Island,” the latter of which began its second season on Monday, started later and will bleed into the fall, further buttressing CBS’ Covid-impacted fall lineup.

CBS has become the latest network to concede that its fall 2020 schedule will not look anything like normal.

The network has unveiled premiere dates for September and October, none of which include the originals it touted in its previous schedule announcement just over three months ago.

Instead, CBS has thrown the first season of “Star Trek: Discovery” and the fourth season of “One Day At a Time” into the broadcast mixer for the first time.

In addition, “Big Brother” and “Love Island,” which began their seasons later than usual, will now be extended further into the fall, airing multiple nights a week to help plug the scripted content gap.

The upcoming Tuesday, June 30 episode of “America’s Got Talent” will look slightly different, as there’s no studio audience in attendance due to concerns about the coronavirus. Despite the lack of cheering fans, daredevil Wesley Williams, aka the One Wheel Wonder, dominates the “Agt” stage with his dangerous act. In Gold Derby’s exclusive clip (watch above), host Terry Crews helps him climb a ladder, then Wesley takes off on his six-foot-tall unicycle. At one point a stagehand gives him some pointy knives, and the judges watch in horror as he juggles them from his position high up in the air.

Three of the 12 finalists on “America’s Got Talent: The Champions” — daredevils Deadly Games, singer Brian Justin Crum and rock opera soloist Cristina Ramos — joined forces for a jaw-dropping performance on the February 18 finale. Deadly Games got the Golden Buzzer from Heidi Klum when they auditioned in the second episode of this spin-off of “Agt.” That sent husband and wife team Alfredo and Anna Silva straight through to the final. Among the other acts on the bill that night was Ramos, who had won “Spain’s Got Talent” in 2016 for her wild mash-ups of rock and opera.

The superfans were so taken with Ramos that they voted to put her to the final over singing ventriloquist Darci Lynne Farmer.

The winner of “America’s Got Talent: The Champions” will be revealed at the end of the two-hour season finale on February 18. The show kicks off at 8 p.m. Et/Pt on NBC and will be packed with encore performances by the 12 finalists as well as some special guest stars, including 2010 winner Jackie Evancho.

At the end of the evening is when host Nick Cannon will reveal who has won the first season of this “Agt” spin-off. Unlike the main show which is live, this special edition was taped. That meant that America did not get to vote for their favorites. Instead, producers turned to the superfans, a group of avid “Agt” viewers who were flown to Los Angeles from around the country to attend the tapings.

Paul Potts won the first season of “Britain’s Got Talent” back in 2007 with his powerful operatic voice and her could well do the same on the first season of “America’s Got Talent: The Champions.” Paul earned his place in the final by winning the superfans vote against magician Jon Dorenbos. Since he came to fame on “Bgt, Paul has recorded chart-topping albums and sold out concert halls worldwide. His life story was even turned into a Hollywood movie, “One Chance,” starring Emmy and Tony winner James Corden.

He is one of the 18 winners from various editions of “Got Talent” to compete in the first season of “America’s Got Talent: The Champions.” Among the other “Bgt” winners, we’ve already seen the 2012 champ Ashleigh with her dog Sully.
