The thing which struck me was it's cast, it's really quite astonishing. It's a regular motley crew of 80's and 90's cult stars and familiar faces.
Steven Bauer, Lane Smith, James Handy, Dennis Christopher, Paul Gleason, Kiersten Warren, Jason London, Robert Wagner and more. Colour me impressed.
It tells the story of a woman who finds herself framed for the deaths of two of her friends. Before she knows it she's in prison, very out of her comfort zone and the case is gradually stacking up against her.
It's actually better than you'd expect it to be, it isn't that the story is fantastic I think it's just a highly competent cast keeping the whole thing afloat.
Great for fans of the genre.
The Good:
Outstanding cast
Interesting enough plot
The Bad:
Perhaps should have been longer
Things I Learnt From This Movie:
Women also have the "I love you too, just not in that way" problem.
Andrew Laskos (Bill LaMond) is at fault for this HORRIBLE script and depiction of characters. I have done extensive research on the cases related to the Redmond/Phelps murders. A large number of details are either missing, incorrect, or overly exaggerated.
The over dramatization in the first 20 minutes is enough to make you gag. Mills does a decent job with the crappy script she was given but what bothered me was the saint-like character they made Joyce out to be. Nobody is that pure.
Again, good story but the movie could have been so much better.

- QuizOn November 16th 2022, Murray Hooper, one of the three hired killers of William "Pat" Redmond and his mother-in-law Helen Phelps, was executed after being on death row for more than four decades since his conviction of the New Year's Eve 1980 murders. His accomplices Edward Lonzo McCall, Jr. and William Bracy were also sentenced to death, but preceded Hooper in death before their executions were carried out. McCall died on February 18th, 2000 and Bracy died of cancer on April 9th, 2005. Robert Charles Cruz, a former businessman and the accused mastermind behind the killings, was initially tried, convicted and sentenced to die as well but his sentences were overturned in October 1983. Inside of ten years, Cruz's case had two mistrials and another conviction that was overturned in July 1993 on a technicality. Cruz was tried a fifth time on June 1st, 1995 and was exonerated. Eventually, Cruz moved back to Chicago to be with his four sons. Two years later, in December of 1997, Cruz went missing. Earlier that year, Cruz had convinced a relative (who was reputed to be a Chicago Mob hit man on trial for murder) to hire his former attorney to represent him. However, the hit man was convicted and sentenced to more than 100 years in prison. Days after the conviction, Cruz disappeared. In March 2007, human remains were found wrapped in a blue tarp in Downers Grove, Illinois, a southwest suburb of Chicago. The remains were confirmed as Cruz's and he was identified through fingerprints and tattoos. Law enforcement sources reported that Cruz had been shot. His death was investigated as a murder.
