Hollywood is coming for Silicon Valley, and Billy Magnussen and Sarah Goldberg are leading the charge. The two actors have been cast as the leads in AMC and AMC+'s new tech-centric drama series by writer Jonathan Glatzer. It is just one of several series aimed at dressing down the insular Northern California tech world that's being shopped and/or developed around town at the moment, but it is the first one to get greenlit so far this season.
Both Magnussen and Goldberg — perhaps most well known for their time leading the HBO series The Franchise and Barry, respectively — will play central characters in the as-yet-untitled series from the Succession and Better Call Saul writer, as it is being reported by Deadline. The show's central conflict will center around a rift between the self-stylized "inventor of the future" tech CEO of a data mining company (Billy Magnussen) and his self-serving...

Isn’t it amazing what a little determination and a lot of hard work can accomplish? Take Chris Pratt, for instance—his first breakout role had him as the snack-loving, pudgy Andy Dwyer in Parks & Recreation. We actually hadn’t predicted that this jovial character would transform into the chiseled Star-Lord, stunning audiences in Guardians of the Galaxy.

Rachael Stanley, the longtime executive director of the Costume Designers Guild, IATSE Local 892, has retired. Before she started working for the union in 2004, Stanley designed costumes on such shows as Ally McBeal, Sisters and Sabrina the Teenage Witch. She has been succeeded in the post by Brigitta Romanov, formerly the local’s assistant executive director, who designed costumes on Glee.
Stanley said that she is most proud of the work she’s done to educate her members about negotiating deals above the minimum scale provided for in the local’s contracts. “It’s a very well-kept secret in the industry that a female- and gay men-dominated local is one of the very lowest paid in the industry,” she told Deadline, noting that about 86% of the local’s members are women.
To educate members about their rights to negotiate deals above scale, she has taught seminars for IATSE members in the U.

Pair has drama with Showtime
Showtime is developing an hourlong drama with writer-producers Chris Keyser and Amy Lippman. The duo, whose credits include Party of Five and Sisters, have gotten a premium script order for an unorthodox series centering on a twentysomething man who must figure out what to do with his life upon learning that he has a form of cancer that will kill him within five years. Showtime declined comment. Keyser and Lippman will create, executive produce and write the untitled drama, with Shawn Levy (Cheaper by the Dozen) on board to direct the pilot. The project is set up at 20th Century Fox TV. The project marks a reunion for Keyser and Lippman with Showtime entertainment president Robert Greenblatt, who was instrumental in bringing Party to primetime as a development executive at Fox in 1994. Despite the dark subject matter, the drama is intended to have a humorous vein as the protagonist contends with putting the wraps on his personal ties and professional aspirations. Keyser and Lippman's credits also include Significant Others and Time of Your Life. Lippman and Levy are repped by Endeavor. Keyser is repped by ICM.
