"Class of 1999 II: The Substitute" is a bad movie with terrible plot points. The story of a substitute teacher, who seems to be a killer android that comes to a high school where a gangster and his dangerous gang are intimidating a teacher that witnessed him killing another student is a complete mess. The plot is pointless and does not make sense and the conclusion is awful. My vote is four.

Plot Synopsis: California, 2001. John Bolen is a substitute teacher who travels from school to school, secretly killing troublesome students. He heads to Monroeville High School, where he helps a female teacher who is being pressured into not testifying by a student who she saw murder someone in cold blood. Bolen then proceeds to murder the student's friends, while being pursued by a federal agent who believes that Bolen is the last of the A77 military battle androids.
"Class of 1999 II: The Substitute" is the sequel to "Class of 1999", which in turn is the sequel to "Class of 1984". Class of '84 was an unofficial remake of the '50s classic "Blackboard Jungle". The film was a violent tale about a teacher who took on the gangs that threatened him & his family. Class of '99 switched sides & became an over-the-top punk action film. The Substitute reverts back to the teachers' side. The script is nothing special but recycles future clichés, with prison-like school uniforms & barcoded car licence plates. For the acting, Sasha Mitchell plays the lead role with a wooden determination, which is appropriate for the role. The action scenes are well executed, although the climax is ham-strung by a cop-out of an ending.

This movie is pretty bad in and of itself, but the thing that makes it over-the-top ridiculous is that all the students look about 30 years old, while the cyborg/substitute looks about 16. I know he's not, but next to all the "teens" he sure looks it!
Is this supposed to be a comedy? I found it quite funny, but the film takes itself so seriously. Maybe that's what makes it even funnier.
Watch if you have some time to waste and want a laugh.

Oh man, this braindead shlockfest looks like it just may have been made in someone's Califorina back yard! The acting is sub-porno, the sets would've made Ed Wood giggle & the dialog is some of the most unintentionally hilarious drivel ever to exude from a human head. In a weird way I recommend it, albeit only in a certain way. CLASS OF 1999 II is so relentlessly silly, cheap & badly acted that you can't help but play the home version of MYSTERY SCIENCE THEATRE 3000. If you're hanging out with a few friends & have downed a few beers (or other mind altering substances) this hapless craptacular can be highly entertaining. Sasha Mitchell's wooden non acting is awe inspiring (or perhaps vomit inducing). The film also contains one of the dopiest & most unerotic sex scenes since SHOWGIRLS. If you subscribe to Showtime this deliriously inept flick pops up a lot VERY late at night or early morning (for you wake-n-bakers).
This movie really does predict the future! It was made in 1994, and early in the movie there is a scene with the principle and he says something about president clinton being incited. Of course in 1999 he wasn't indicted, but he was impeached by the house! Wow! Conspiracy? Or just a really stupid movie? OK, the past 3 days I have watched "Saturn 3", "Shredder" and now "Class of 1999 II: The Substitute" and by far Class of 1999 II was the worse, compare all 3 movies, that is really saying something. This stupid piece of crap didn't even have gruesome deaths to keep it interesting. The attempt at a meaningful plot made it so unbearable. The 'gangs' in this movie wear the most ridiclous clothes, who is going to be in a gang and look like that? Not worth watching at all, not even to laugh at.

Hmmm. Seems to be a blatant terminator ripoff, even using the same music at times. This sure is terrible. Bad acting and very bad casting choices. How they chose the guy from "Step by Step" to be the cyborg is a mystery to me. Watch it only if you want to make fun of it with some friends.
This film essentially begins where its predecessor left off with the four combat droids from the last picture having been destroyed earlier in the year. That being said, however, there now appears to be another combat droid by the name of "John Bolen" (Sasha Mitchell) operating as a substitute teacher at a high school in Bend, Oregon. To that effect, he also malfunctions and not only kills several unruly kids but also the principal of that school as well. Clearly realizing that he cannot remain there any longer, he then travels to Monroeville, California to serve as a substitute teacher at a reform school for very troubled high school students. Needless to say, in his mind this is an extremely target-rich environment which requires the only solution he is familiar with--with disastrous consequences for all concerned. Now, rather than reveal any more, I will just say that this was easily the worst film in the trilogy which began with "Class of 1984" and continued with "Class of 1999" produced four years earlier. Not only did it lack originality but even the surprising twist at the end wasn't really that effective either. In short, this was a rather weak sequel and I have rated it accordingly. Below average.

Sasha Mitchell stars as John Bolen an android teacher (From the original) who terminates a bunch of unruly kids and some innocent ones just for the hell of it in this baffling sequel. What one is baffled about is that this is a sequel to Class Of 1984 and Class Of 1999 yet it's still has a 2 in it's title. Sasha Mitchell is the only reason to see this undistinguished fare, since he's the only one who seems well suited to the part. It would've been nicer had Mitchell done more kickboxing and been the main villain but Razatos never overcomes this dilemma and in the end makes Mitchell into an anti-hero. Sadly the kids this time are so irritating that you can't help but find Mitchell lovable, being that he's wiping out the most obnoxious kids this side of a Saved By The Bell episode.

Class of 1999 is in my opinion a good film. This is one of those films where you like it or you don't .. Sasha Mitchell is very good as John Bolen. Although it is a low budget film, the story is very smooth running with some memorable moments. Sasha Mitchell who originally starred in Dallas, comes across nicely as the school teacher with a secret, inside he is in conflict between all the traits that he holds dear. This is in one of my favourite films. *****

A cyborg poses as a substitute teacher in schools and kills kids who are misbehaving....yawn. Boring, suspenseless, lousy acting, stupid predictable script...a waste. The only thing that kept me watching was the guy who played the cyborg. He couldn't act his way out of a paper bag, but he was really nice-looking! Other than that there's nothing worth watching here.

I saw Class of 1999 when I was a kid. Thought it was the bee's knees. Another kid in 7th grade said I should look at the sequel. Here I am, 17 years later watching this thing and wondering, whaaaaa???? All the mini plots had me a little confused and towards the end I didn't know who was who. The director could put anyone in there and I wouldn't know the difference.
I watched it all the way through and in the last scene I was hoping for a killer robot teacher to rip the girl in half or at least come through my wall and rip me in half. Either way, there no killer robots. I was tricked and I feel violated.

From reading the other 'comments', I assume that this sequel was not true to the original. I found this film quite intriguing, and am glsd I missed the original. Now maybe I will watch it.
It's development of the 'paint ball' warriors was informative as to how this activity actually goes on.
But getting to the point - Jenna is extremely hot, especially in the flesh shown. I liked the plot - a crazy kid thinking he is a droid and developig droid characteristics - original. Usually, it's the other way around - a droid developing human characteristics.
Too bad all low budget mush isn't this good.

Lots of noise, little acting, no showcase for any of the actors. Not even a decent Horror premise. I watched this on a Sunday afternoon when nothing else was new on the tube and I still found that it was waste. I hope that Cassavetes finds better roles in the future as he looked promising.
Great film I say. While all the haters are whining and complaining, I sit here and laugh at them because they are all the same, they want all the high budget crap. Only watch this film to get a laugh...seriously...no, really, are you nuts? This film does not deserve the bad rep its getting and has been getting for years.
I think Sasha Mitchell was perfectly cast, while others say that woman was hot, I say he was :D but that's not the only reason I love this film. I love how dangerous he is, I like how serious this movie takes it self for...sick of movies being low budget and just jokes for a Saturday night for people to complain and moan about or worse being stupid and silly with degraded crap like Family Guy and South Park, that's right, I'm pissing on the high budget stuff that is trash unlike this film!!!!! Those shows or movies have no heart, surprise and action..only exception is Spaceballs.
I love all the cool explosions..I like the story/plot and yes there was one even though no one says there is one. Yes I didn't see the first one but that's no reason to hate this movie. Just because it doesn't read on your standards for entertainment viewing, doesn't mean it's horrible by any means.
I was lucky to find this movie on YouTube, I plan to see it for the second time. The twist at the end had me very fooled, I was like what I love Sasha so naturally I went to IMDb and wanted to see his other movies since I loved his Kickboxer movies and him as Cody in Step by Step..a show which needs to be on DVD. It's not a waste of time or garbage. It's a rare movie and a gem I think. Over all a ten star of a film...I just wish I could go over ten

Yeah, certainly it represents not a mainstream movie, also not a masterpiece. But, if you need to spend almost 90 minutes of brainless time this pseudosequel is good. The protagonist, Sasha Mitchell, plays good his role of cruel cyborg teacher, killing and destroying all things he hates around him. In fact, the scene of the incipit (with a school gang burned in a car) shows up it all, exploding in a gratuitous exploitation. Have a nice vision!

Sasha Mitchell stars as John Bolen the robot teacher who is the only connection to it's moronic predecessor, in this movie he unleashes stern justice to gangs that sorely need it and in the process saves a teacher from the bad guy gang, while killing the usual innocent by standers. Despite what some will say, Class Of 1999 II is at least a vast improvement over Class Of 1999. The movie is at least somewhat balanced and the carnage never overwhelms the movie. However Sasha Mitchell is terribly miscast in the role, Mitchell is an actor who has a watchable screen presence (He was quite likable in Kickboxer 2, Kickboxer 3 and Kickboxer 4) but his whole nice guy approach fails to translate into a truly menacing figure. Class Of 1999 II:The Substitute actually starts out fairly well with Mitchell dispatching a gang not that unfamiliar from the gang in Class Of 1984 but after we hit the subplot involving a teacher who witnessed a shooting and the new gang's antics to force her not to testify. It becomes apparent this lame melodrama has been added to pad out the running time. The movie actually manages to become watchable whenever Mitchell springs into action but because the movie lingers to much on the clichéd boredom of the gang and the teacher the movie stops dead in it's tracks. Although the climax provides great black comedy as Mitchell dispatches innocent kids with poker faced (yet hilarious) seriousness. Also the action is competently staged and I guess on this angle the film works but I for one was far too bored with the unnecessary padding. So at the end of the day, you have a sequel (Which should be part 3) that is better than it's first predecessor but far inferior to the exploitation classic that spawned it and no amount of kickboxing from Mitchell will change this fact.
